【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は電装品の配置の改良を含む自動二輪車に関する。

【従来の技術】
自動二輪車は、四輪車に比べて車体スペースが極く限れられていることから、エンジンと燃料タンクと電装品(バッテリ、エンジンコントロールユニットなど)の配置に工夫をこらす必要があり、例えば、特開平11−139375号公報「自動二輪車の補器配置構造」に記載の車両では、同公報の図1によれば、ヘッドパイプ回りにバッテリ60(符号は公報記載のままとする。以下同じ)を配置し、ハンドル27とシート37の間の下方に内燃機関40を配置し、シート37の後部下方に燃料タンク36を配置したものである。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
上記公報の自動二輪車では次に示す課題がある。
(1)同公報の図4に示される通り、バッテリ60はフロントカバー70で覆われているため、バッテリの点検、交換をするときにはフロントカバー70を車体側から外さなければならないが、フロントカバー70は車体の外観形状を決める重要な部品の一つであり、形状が複雑であり、止めボルトも多いことから、脱着性はよいとは言えず、バッテリ点検工数が嵩むことになる。

(2)上記公報には明示されていないが、エンジンコントロールユニット(以下、「ECU」と略記する場合がある。)はバッテリに相当する重さと大きさを有する電装品である。一般に、ECUはシート下に配置されるが、そうするとシート下の物入れの有効容積が減少することなる。
そこで、本発明の目的は、バッテリやECUなどの電装品の点検を容易にすることができると共にシート下のスペースの拡張を図ることの電装品配置構造を含む自動二輪車を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記目的を達成するために請求項1は、ハンドルとシートとの間に平坦なステップフロアを備える自動二輪車において、前記ハンドルはカバーで覆われておらず当該ハンドルを旋回自在に取付けるヘッドパイプ回りに設けられ、電装品を覆う電装品ボックスと、前記電装品ボックスの前方に設けられたヘッドランプと、前記電装品ボックスの下方であって前輪の上方に配置されたフロントフェンダと、前記電装品ボックスの下方であって前記ステップフロアの前端に該ステップフロアから一体的に立ち上げたレッグシールド部と、前記シート下に設けられた開口部を有する空間とを備えることを特徴とする。
ヘッドパイプ回りに電装品を集中配置することで、自動二輪車のシート下等のスペースの拡張を図り、シート下方のレイアウトに余裕を持たせることができる。この発明はスクータ型自動二輪車に適用する。また電装品を電装品ボックスで覆うことで、電装品の点検性を高める。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明の実施の形態を添付図に基づいて以下に説明する。なお、図面は符号の向きに見るものとする。
図1は本発明に係る自動二輪車の斜視図であり、自動二輪車10は、ハンドル11と、矢印のごとく跳ね上げ可能なシート12と、シート12により開閉されシート下に設けれるシート下トレイ50と、ハンドル11とシート12との間に配置した平坦なステップフロア13とを備え、このステップフロア13から後方斜め上へリヤフレーム14を延ばし、このリヤフレーム14から支承部材15を立て、この支承部材15の上端にシート12 に架け渡すごとくに載せることで、シート12と左右の支承部材15とで囲った物品収納空間16を形成すると共に、この物品収納空間16の少なくとも前面17と後面18と(この例では左右の側面19,19も)に前部開口部21、後部開口部22を形成したことを特徴とする。

さらに、リヤフレーム14の延長線L2より下に、テールランプ36を配置することで、延長線L2より上に邪魔物を突出させぬようにしたので、開口部22から物品収納空間16内へ長尺物品を容易に挿入することができる。

図3に戻って、ヘッドパイプ60にバッテリハンガー65を介してバッテリ61を取付けると共にヘッドパイプ60に直接的に取付けるエンジンコントロールユニット62を取付け、前面ボード67に専用カバー64をビス68・・・で取付けることにより、電装ボックス38が組み上がる。
この後、バッテリ61、ヒューズボックス63若しくはエンジンコントロールユニット62を点検するときには、ビス68・・・を緩めて、専用カバー64のみを前面ボード67から外せばよい。
従来、この種のスクータ型自動二輪車では、ヘッドパイプ回りに配置した電装品を点検するには、フロントカバーを外す必要があり、同点検作業が大変であった。しかし、本発明ではフロントカバーを外す必要はなく、単に専用カバー64を外すせばよく、ヘッドパイプ回りに配置した電装品の点検が極めて容易になった。

電装品配置構造70は、ヘッドパイプ60の左右にバッテリ61やエンジンコントロールユニット62などの電装品を配置し且つ、電装品を電装品用ステー71で支えるとともに、電装品用ステー71をヘッドパイプ60の前後に前方部材72並びに後方部材73を介して取り付けたことを特徴とする。74は、エンジンコントロールユニット62を支持する支持部材である。ところで、図6で明らかなようにヘッドパイプ60の上端部60aと下端部60bとの間の長さは、電装品ボックス38の長さと同じである。

また、溶接が困難な異種材同士でも、ヘッドパイプに電装品用ステーを取り付けることができるので、フレームや電装品用ステーの汎用性を向上させることができる。

本発明は上記構成により次の効果を発揮する。

従って、カバーで覆われていないハンドルと、該ハンドルを旋回自在に支持するヘッドパイプ回りに設けられた電装品を覆う電装品ボックスと、該電装品ボックスの前方に設けられたヘッドランプと、該電装品ボックスの下方であって、前輪の上方に配置されたフロントフェンダと、該電装品ボックスの下方であって、ステップフロアの前端にステップフロアと一体に立上がったレッグシールド部と、シート下方の空間に開口部を備えるので、カバーで覆われていないハンドルや、平坦なステップフロア、シート下方の空間に開口部を備える所謂ネイキッドタイプのスクータにおいて、ヘッドパイプ回りに電装品を集中配置することで、シート下等のスペースの拡張を図るとともに、電装品の点検性を高める。
そして、ヘッドパイプ回りに電装品を集中配置することで、シート下の物品収納空間のスペース拡張を図るなど、シート下方のレイアウトに余裕を持たせることができる。
さらに、所謂ネイキッドタイプのスクータにおいて、ハンドルを旋回自在に取付けるヘッドパイプ回りに設けられた電装品を覆う電装品ボックスにより電装品を水や泥等から保護することが出来るとともに、電装品ボックスの下方であって、ステップフロアの前端に該ステップフロアから一体的に立ち上げたレッグシールド部により、乗員を水や泥等から保護することができる。
