本発明は、車両用情報表示装置及び情報配信装置に関し、例えば代表的な車両である自動車に搭載される情報表示装置及びその情報表示装置に情報を配信する情報配信装置に関する。

【従来の技術】
従来より、代表的な車両である自動車においては、外部より受信したGPS(グローバルポジショニングシステム)信号等に基づいて、自車両の位置情報や目的地までの経路誘導等のナビゲーション情報が入手可能なナビゲーションシステムが普及しつつある。

また、このようなナビゲーションシステムの応用例として、例えば、特開平10−103977号には、位置情報の入手だけでなく、更に無線通信による受信情報として、インターネット情報をも入手可能なナビゲーションシステムが提案されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、上記従来例においては、ナビゲーションユニットから情報センターへの無線通信において、観光地等のインターネット情報と、車両の状態に関する情報とは別個独立して行われており、片方向の無線通信が発生する度に通信の初期コストがその都度発生し、通信効率、通信コストの両方の観点からも効率的でない。

そこで本発明は、車両の状態情報を自動的に且つ効率的に受信する車両用情報表示装置と、その状態情報を自動的に且つ効率的に送信する情報配信装置の提供を目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記の目的を達成するため、本発明に係る車両用情報表示装置は、以下の構成を特徴とする。

即ち、所定時間ごとに課金される無線通信回線を介して情報配信装置と通信する車両用情報表示装置であって、前記無線通信回線を確立して、車両のドライバーによる操作に応じたリクエスト信号を前記情報配信装置に送信することで、該情報配信装置から該操作に応じた配信情報を受信する第1の送受信手段と、前記リクエスト信号の送信および前記配信情報の受信のために確立された前記無線通信回線を介して、前記車両の故障診断結果を得るための車両の状態情報を前記情報配信装置に送信することで、該情報配信装置から該故障診断結果に関する情報を受信する第2の送受信手段と、前記無線通信回線に対する終話操作が前記ドライバーにより入力された場合であっても、前記情報配信装置との無線通信の課金が同一料金帯を越えない期間内で前記故障診断結果に関する情報を送信可能と前記情報配信装置が判定した場合には、該終話操作が該情報配信装置により無効にされて、該故障診断結果に関する情報の受信を継続するよう制御する制御手段とを含むことを特徴とする。

前記制御手段は、前記情報配信装置において情報検索が実行されている間、または前記車両用情報配信装置を操作している間に、前記車両の状態情報を送信または前記故障診断結果に関する情報を受信させることを特徴とする。

上記何れの車両用情報表示装置においても、前記制御手段は、前記車両の故障診断結果に関する情報を受信したときに、その情報をディスプレイに表示させるとよい。

また、前記制御手段は、前記リクエスト信号を送信してから所定時間が経過していないときに、前記リクエスト信号の送信を禁止してもよい。また、更に、車両現在位置を検出する検出手段を備え、前記制御手段は、前記検出手段によって検出した車両現在位置を前記情報配信装置に送信することにより、その車両現在位置周辺に存在するサービス工場に関する情報を受信してもよい。前記制御手段は、前記車両の状態情報の送信或いは受信を禁止可能な禁止手段を含んでもよい。前記制御手段は、前記ディスプレイに前記車両の故障診断結果に関する情報を表示させたとき、その情報の今後の表示を禁止可能な禁止手段を含むことを特徴としてもよい。また、前記制御手段は、前記情報配信装置との無線通信が所定時間を経過しても行われないときに、その情報配信装置への無線通信を促す催促手段を含んでもよい。

即ち、所定時間ごとに課金される無線通信回線を介して車両用情報表示装置と通信する情報配信装置であって、前記無線通信回線を確立して、車両のドライバーによる操作に応じたリクエスト信号を受信することで、該操作に応じた配信情報を送信する第1の送受信手段と、前記リクエスト信号の受信および前記配信情報の送信のために確立された前記無線通信回線を介して、前記車両の故障診断結果を得るための車両の状態情報を前記車両用情報表示装置から受信することで、該故障診断結果に関する情報を送信する第2の送受信手段と、前記無線通信回線に対する終話操作が前記ドライバーにより入力された場合であっても、前記情報配信装置との無線通信の課金が同一料金帯を越えない期間内で前記故障診断結果に関する情報を送信可能である場合には、該終話操作を無効にして、該故障診断結果に関する情報の送信を継続するよう制御する通信制御手段とを含むことを特徴とする。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、本発明を、情報配信装置としての情報センター及び無線基地局と、車両用情報表示装置としての自動車のナビゲーション装置(ユニット)とにより構成される無線通信システムに適用した実施形態として、図面を参照して詳細に説明する。尚、以下に説明する実施形態においては、更新・追加を行う情報を、地図情報として説明するが、地図情報と同様に地域に関するサービス情報の更新・追加を行うシステムとして構成しても良い。

図1は、本発明の第1の実施形態における無線通信システムのシステム構成図である。

同図において、ナビゲーションユニット1が搭載された車両100は、外部よりGPS信号等を受信すると共に、無線基地局21との無線通信を介して情報センター2との相互通信を行う。

同図において、ナビゲーションユニット1には、以下の各ユニットが接続されている。即ち、11は、GPS信号を受信するGPS受信機である。12は、VICS(道路交通情報通信システム)信号を受信するVICS受信機である。13は、地図情報及び地域のサービス情報(例えばレストラン等の位置、電話番号等)が予め格納されている記憶媒体としてのCD−ROM(DVD−ROMであってもよい)から地図情報等を読み出すCD−ROMリーダである。14は、ナビゲーションユニット1の所定の操作を入力可能な操作スイッチである。15は、車両100の自車速を検出する車速センサである。16は、車両100の走行状態や位置補正に使用するジャイロセンサである。17は、車両100の現在位置、経路誘導路、そして情報センタ−2から入手した受信情報を表示するディスプレイであり、その表示画面の前面には操作スイッチ14として機能するフィルムが設けられている。18は、ナビゲーションユニット1によって検出した状態の報知や、経路誘導のための音声等を出力するブザーやスピーカ等の報知ユニットである。19は、無線基地局21を介して情報センター2との無線通信を行う無線機である。20は、エンジンの温度計やバッテリの液面計等の各種センサー群である。ナビゲーションユニット1のCPU101は、RAM102をワークエリア等として使用しながら、ROM103に予め格納されているプログラムに従って、後述する表示・通信制御処理を実行する。また、104は、読み出し/書き込みが可能な記憶素子(メモリ)またはハードディスク等の記憶装置であり、追加・更新された地図情報及びその識別情報や、CD−ROMリーダ13から読み出し可能な地図データの識別情報等が格納される。また、これらの識別情報には、所定のデータ単位で、後述する自動的な更新・追加を許可/禁止する識別フラグ(更新可否フラグ、追加可否フラグ)を、操作スイッチ14からの操作により設定することができる。

また、情報センター2には、サーバとして機能するホストコンピュータ201と、そのコンピュータに接続されたデータベース202とが設けられており、ホストコンピュータ201は、データベース202から読み出した情報を、無線基地局21を介して車両100の無線機19に向けて送信する。

本実施形態において、無線機19と無線基地局21との間の無線通信は、移動体通信手段としての所謂携帯電話、PHS等の無線公衆電話回線網であり、且つ無線基地局21と情報センター2との間の通信は、一般的な公衆電話回線網であり、何れの回線も所定の時間毎に課金が行われるものとする。

また、本実施形態において、ナビゲーションユニット1と情報センター2との間の相互通信は、所謂、無線通信を介したインターネット通信であり、ナビゲーションユニット1は、一般的なブラウザプログラムを基本とする閲覧機能を有しており、情報センター2は、所定のURL(Uniform Resorce Locator)により識別可能な、一般的なWWW(World Wide Web)のインターネットサービスプロバイダとして機能する。

尚、以下の説明においては、情報センター2からの受信情報がインターネット情報である場合を例に説明するが、当該情報センターを中継センターとする所謂電子メール情報の相互通信であってもよい。または、インターネット情報と電子メール情報とを両方とも通信可能に構成してもよい。

同図に示すように、車両100の操作スイッチ14の所定の操作により、特定のURLを有する情報センター2との通信回線が確保されると、車両100からは、インターネット情報の入手を要求するコール信号が送信される。情報センター2では、コール信号に含まれる情報に応じたインターネット情報を含むセンター信号が送信される。その後、操作スイッチ14の所定の操作により、終話操作が検出されるまで、更に他のインターネット情報を要求する車両信号が車両100から送信される度に、その車両信号に含まれる情報に応じたインターネット情報を含むセンター信号が送信される。尚、車両状態/更新信号については、第2の実施形態にて使用する。

本実施形態において、ナビゲーションユニット1と情報センター2との間の通信形態は、ナビゲーションユニットが所定のグループに属しているか否かに応じて、以下に説明する図4及び図5の通信フォーマット、または図6及び図7の通信フォーマットの何れかが使用される。また、所定のグループに属しているか否かの判断には、ナビゲーションユニット1の識別(ID)が、情報センター2にて登録済みかを確認することによって判断する。

図5に示すセンター信号も、コール信号(車両信号)と同様なフィールド構成であるが、フィールド内の情報の種類が異なる。即ち、フィールド302のディスティネーションアドレスビットには、送信先であるナビゲーションユニット1の識別(ID)番号及び無線機(携帯電話)19の電話番号及びその電話番号の所有者のURLを含む。フィールド303の情報センター(センター)IDビットには、送信元の情報センター2の電話番号及びURLを含む。フィールド304の機能ビットには、送信する情報の種類等を含み、フィールド305のデータビットには、ナビゲーションユニット1に送信すべきデータ、即ちディスプレイ17に画面を構成するための制御コード、文字(キャラクタ)データ、背景データ、並びに画像データを含む。このデータビットの具体な構成例としては、JavaScriptのタグ(tag)等を利用してHTML(Hyper Text Markup Language)にて記述されたWebページのファイルが想定される。

また、接続を希望する情報センター2が車両100の現在位置から遠い位置に存在するときには、車両100の現在位置を送受信範囲とする無線基地局21に比較的近い情報センター2に一旦送受信情報を蓄えると共に、その情報センター2と当該接続を希望する情報センター2との間の通信は、所定の通信プロトコルに従って、例えばパケット単位で行えば良く、詳細な説明は省略する。

図6に示すコール信号及び車両信号のフィールド構成で図4に示すフィールド構成と異なるのは、フィールド305のデータビットと、フィールド306のパリティビットとの間に、フィールド360の状態フラグビット、フィールド361のセンサステータスビット、そして、フィールド362の地図データステータス・現在位置ビットを有することである。ここで、状態フラグビットは、ナビゲーションユニット1の操作者が後述する地図データの更新・追加機能と車両状態データの受信機能とを操作スイッチ14の操作によって無効にしているか否かを表わす状態フラグFLを表わす。センサステータスビットは、車速センサ15、ジャイロセンサ16等の出力値や、各種センサー群20の検出値を表わす。地図データステータス・現在位置ビットは、記憶装置14(RAM102であっても良い)に記憶しているところの、追加・更新された地図データ及びその識別情報や、CD−ROMリーダ13から読み出し可能な地図情報の識別情報と、GPS受信機11によって受信したGPS信号等に基づいて検出した車両100の現在位置情報(現在ナビゲーションユニット1のディスプレイ17に表示している地図データ及びその縮尺、車両100の進行方向に関する情報を含む)とを表わす。

一方、図7に示すセンター信号のフィールド構成で図5に示すフィールド構成と異なるのは、フィールド305のデータビットと、フィールド306のパリティビットとの間に、フィールド363の車両状態ビットと、フィールド364の更新ビットと、そして、フィールド365の地図データビットとを有することである。ここで、車両状態ビットは、情報センター2にて故障診断の結果やディスプレイ17に表示すべきガイダンス等を表わす。更新ビットは、ナビゲーションユニット1への地図データの更新指示の有無を表わす。地図データビットは、ナビゲーションユニット1側で更新すべき及び/または追加すべき地図データを表わす。

尚、これらの車両状態ビット、更新ビット、そして地図データビットの各フィールドは、送信すべき実質的な情報内容が無いときにもセンター信号に含まれる構成としても良いが、可能な限り通信時間を短縮することにより、通信コストを低減するという観点からは、情報センター2側の制御により、車両100側に送信する必要が有る場合にのみ追加されるように構成するとよい。
