【発明の属する技術分野】
この発明は、水道用ポリエチレン管などのような軟質合成樹脂管に用いる、耐震強度に富んだ管継手、及びその管継手と軟質合成樹脂管との接続方法に関する。

【従来の技術】
軟質合成樹脂管用の継手に於いて、急激な荷重が作用した場合の局部伸びを防止し、耐震強度を高めた管継手は、既に本発明者によって特願平9−273951号として提案されている。この管継手は、接続ソケットと外リングとで内外から軟質合成樹脂管を挟み付けて固定する形式で、かつ、接続ソケットの先端部に緩傾斜の逃がし面を形成したもので、これにより応力の分散を図って、局部伸びを無くし、管が全長で伸びるようにして、震災時の管の破断を防止せんとするものである。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
ところが、前記従来の管継手では、その外面の逃がし面に滑り抵抗値を高める為の微小凹凸が形成されているが、防錆の為に、全体に粉体塗装を施すと、この微小凹凸の目が詰まって抵抗値が下がり、滑り易くなって応力の分散ができなくなり、所期の目的を達成し得なくなる。この為、粉体塗装後に、先端の逃がし面をサンドペーパーなどで磨いて付着した塗装を落とす後処理が必要となり、製造時の作業性が悪いという問題があった。また、外リングは、嵌結合時にしごきながら圧入する為、接続端部のポリエチレン管にこのしごきによる応力が溜まり、これが時間と共に戻ろうとして、外リングに抜き方向の力がかかり、時間経過に伴って、徐々に外リングが後退移動して、ついに外リングが離脱したり、外リングによる締付保持力が低下したりして、管接続強度が低くなるという問題があった。

本発明はこのような点に鑑み、粉体塗装後の後処理が不要で、製造作業性のよい管継手、及びこの管継手と軟質合成樹脂管との接続方法を提供するにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明の軟質合成樹脂管用継手の技術的手段は、接続ソケットと、接続ソケットの先端に連結される延長ソケットと、接続ソケットに嵌め込まれた軟質合成樹脂管を締め付ける外リングからなり、接続ソケットは粉体塗装されており、延長ソケットは、微小凹凸を有する逃がし面を備え、その微小凹凸は粉体塗装されていないことを特徴とすることにある。

本発明の接続方法の技術的手段は、接続ソケットと、微小凹凸を有する逃がし面を備える延長ソケットと、外リングを備える管継手と軟質合成樹脂管との接続方法であって、接続ソケットへの粉体塗装後、その接続ソケットに延長ソケットを連結し、延長ソケットを連結した接続ソケットの接続部に軟質合成樹脂管の先端を嵌め込み、外リングを嵌め込むことによって、接続ソケットとの間でその合成樹脂管を締め付けることを特徴とすることにある。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明の管継手の実施の形態を、図面の実施例に基づいて説明する。1は金属製の接続ソケットで、接続せんとする片方の管などの端に固着される。なお、この管は合成樹脂製でも、金属製でもよく、また、管の他に、バルブなどの機器の接続口でもよく、その上、これらの機器に一体に組み付けての使用も可能で、この場合には、接続ソケット1は当該機器の一部分となる。

接続ソケット1の管接続部2の外面には、滑り抵抗を高めるための、比較的大きな凹凸3が形成されている。また、管接続部2の先端には鉤状の連結噛合部4が設けられている。この接続ソケット1は鋳鉄などで作られ、製造完了後には、防錆の為に全体的に粉体塗装が施される。

10は延長ソケットで、その後端には連結噛合部11が設けられていて、これら連結噛合部4、11を圧入結合させることにより、接続ソケット1の先端に延長ソケット10を連結する。この延長ソケット10の外面は、逃がし面12となる為、10〜30°程度のゆるやかな傾斜で、先端に向かって縮径している。更に、この逃がし面12には滑り抵抗を高める為の微小凹凸が形成されている。なお、延長ソケット10の材質には、銅合金などの耐蝕性を有するものを用いる。これにより粉体塗装が不要となり、微小凹凸が潰れることはない。

20は金属製の外リングである。外リング20の内面には滑り止め用の溝21が複数本、環状に形成されている。この溝21の形成位置は、リング端の拡径部22の根元付近に設けるのが好ましい。また溝21の堀り方向は、戻りに対して喰い込む方向に設けるのが好ましい。

次に、本発明の管継手の接続方法について説明する。先ず、接続ソケット1の先端に、延長ソケット10を連結する。これは両方の連結噛合部4、11を圧入することにより行う。連結噛合部は鉤状になっているので、一旦、連結されると、外れることはなく、強固に固定保持される。なお、接続ソケット1への粉体塗装は延長ソケット10の連結前に行う。

以上のように延長ソケット10を連結した接続ソケット1の接続部2の外にポリエチレン管Aの先端を嵌め込み、次に、その外側に外リング20を嵌め込む。なお、これらの嵌め込み作業はかなりの力を要するので、適当な工具を用いて行う。外リング20の嵌め込みによって、ポリエチレン管Aは外方から強く締め付けられ、管の内壁がソケットの凹凸3に喰い込むようになる。この為、接続強度は高く、強い引張力が作用しても、ポリエチレン管が抜け出すことはない。

また、延長ソケット10の外面は逃がし面12となっていて、傾斜はゆるやかで、かつ、表面に微小凹凸が形成されているので、急激な引張を受けた場合でも、応力が1箇所に集中せずに分散する。この為、局部伸びが発生せず、ポリエチレン管が全長で伸びるようになり、管の破断を防止できる。更に、外リング20の内面には、溝21が形成されていて、ここにポリエチレン管Aの外面が喰い込む。この為、外リング20の嵌め込み時のしごきによって、ポリエチレン管の先端部に溜まった応力が時間経過に伴って戻る場合でも、外リング20の後退移動が起こらず、所定位置に安定的に固定保持され、接続強度の低下を招くことはない。

本発明の管継手は、前記実施例に限定されるものではなく、特許請求の範囲の記載の範囲内で自由に変形実施可能である。特に、接続ソケットと延長ソケットとの連結方式や、延長ソケットの材質及び外表面の微小凹凸の形状、更に、外リング内面の溝の形状などは自由である。

【発明の効果】
本発明の軟質合成樹脂管用継手は、そのソケットが、粉体塗装された接続ソケットと微小凹凸を備える逃がし面を備え、その面は粉体塗装されていない延長ソケットの2体構成であり、あるいは接続ソケットに粉体塗装を施した後に延長ソケットを連結するものであって、これにより、従来品のように逃がし面に付着した塗料をサンドペーパーなどで剥ぎ取る後処理が不要になり、製造時の作業性を改善できる。
