Description

【発明の詳細な説明】
【0001】
【産業上の利用分野】本発明は樹脂で成形された管材を
突合せ溶接により接続する装置に関し、さらに詳しく
は、例えば超純水の輸送等のクリーン用途に利用される
熱可塑性樹脂管材(例えばPPS:ポリフェニレンサル
ファイドの成形品等)の接続に適した突合せ溶接装置に
関する。

【従来の技術】樹脂成形品の管材を接続する装置として
は、一対のクランプで管材を把持し、その各管材の端部
をヒータにより加熱溶融した後、各クランプを互いに接
近する向きへと移動させることによって、その各溶融部
分を突合せて融着する構造のものがある(例えば特開平
5−193004号公報)。
【0003】また、この種の突合せ溶接によりPPS等
の熱可塑性樹脂で成形された管材の接続を行う場合、管
端部の溶融は非接触のヒータ加熱で行うことが通例であ
る。これは、PPSの融点が270℃と高いので管端部
を溶融状態にまで加熱するにはヒータ温度を300℃以
上に設定する必要があり、そのような高温加熱ではヒー
タ表面のコーティング材が存在せず、このため接触加熱
では管端面がヒータ面に付着し易くなる等の理由によ
る。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】ところで、非接触加熱
により管端部の溶融を行う場合、ヒータ熱板の表面積に
対し、加熱される管材の外径が比較的小さいときには、
管端面の外側部分が受ける熱量が内側部分に対して大き
くなるため、管外面側が急速に加熱され管端の肉厚方向
(径方向)の加熱むらが発生して管端部の溶融量に偏り
が生じることがある。
【0005】そして、このような溶融量の偏りが生じる
と、接合時の接合荷重が溶融代の小さい管内側部分に集
中してしまい、外側部分には荷重が掛からなくなる結
果、接合強度が小さくなる、また外側部分が加熱されす
ぎて分解が生じる、といった不具合が発生する。
【0006】本発明はそのよう点に鑑みてなされたもの
で、接合強度の信頼性が高い熱可塑性樹脂管材の突合せ
溶接装置の提供を目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】上記の目的を達成するた
めの構成を、実施例に対応する図1を参照しつつ説明す
ると、本発明は、一対のクランプ1,2にそれぞれ管材
11,12を把持した状態で、このクランプ間にヒータ
3を配置して各管材11,12の管端部を非接触の状態
で加熱溶融し、その各溶融部分を当該一対のクランプ
1,2の相対的な移動により突合わせるよう構成された
溶接装置において、ヒータ3には管端面11a,12a
と対向する面に、それぞれ、内径・外径が接続管材1
1,12と略等しい直円筒形の突起3bが設けられ、か
つ、その各突起3bの円筒軸は、クランプ1と2の間に
ヒータ3を配置した状態で当該クランプの把持中心に一
致することによって特徴づけられる。

【作用】ヒータ3をクランプ1と2の間に配置すると、
突起3bの先端面と接続管材の管端面11a,12aと
が対面し、この両者間に所定の間隔(1mm)を開けた状
態で管端部の加熱を行うと、その突起3bの先端面と対
面する管端面11a,12aのみが集中的に加熱され、
ヒータ3に対し離れた位置となる管外周面及び内周面に
加わる熱量はごく僅かとなる。これにより、管端部の肉
厚方向にの加熱状態が均一となる。

【実施例】図1は本発明実施例の構成図で、(A) は要部
縦断面図,(B) はヒータ3のみを抽出して示す斜視図で
ある。
【0010】まず、この例の溶接装置(全体構造は図示
せず)は、互いに対向する一対のクランプ1,2と、こ
のクランプ間に配置されるヒータ3を備えている。ヒー
タ3は、装置本体に対してスライドもしくは回動自在に
配設されており、一対のクランプ1,2の中間位置(使
用位置)と、クランプ1,2とは干渉しない位置(待機
位置)の2位置に選択的に移動可能となっている。
【0011】さて、本発明実施例において注目すべきと
ころは、ヒータ3の熱板3aの両面に、それぞれ、直円
筒形の突起3bを設けた点にある。この突起3bは、内
径・外径が接続管材11,12と略等しい寸法に加工さ
れており、また、この突起3bの円筒軸は、ヒータ3が
一対のクランプ1と2の間に位置した状態のときに、そ
のクランプ1,2の把持中心と一致する。従って、ヒー
タ3を使用位置に配置したときには、各管材の管端面1
1a,12aと突起3bの先端面とは互いに対面する位
置関係となる。
【0012】さらに、ヒータ3の熱板3aはアルミニウ
ム製で、その突起3bの先端面には波長5μm以上の赤
外線を放射率80%以上で放射する材料P、例えばテツ
ゾールB−66(耐熱塗料;商品名,日本ペイント株式
会社製)が塗布されている。
【0013】次に、本発明実施例の作用を述べる。接合
対象を呼び径75mmのPPS製パイプとして、その一対
のパイプ間に、前記の構造のヒータ3を配置し、このヒ
ータの突起3bの先端面と管端面との間に1mmの間隔を
開けた状態で管端部の加熱(ヒータ温度;470℃)を
行い、また熱板表面がフラットな従来のヒータを使用し
て、上記と同種のパイプの管端部を非接触で加熱(間隔
1mm)して、それぞれの加熱過程での各管端部の温度上
昇を測定したところ、図2のグラフに示す結果が得られ
た。
【0014】なお、パイプの管端部の温度は、管外面か
ら1mmの位置と、管内面から1mmの位置の各部位にそれ
ぞれ熱電対を配置して、その各ポイントの温度(TA,t
A;本発明実施例,TB,tB;従来)を測定した。
【0015】以上の測定結果から、従来のヒータを使用
した場合、50秒程度の加熱で管外側部の温度TB と管
内側部の温度tB との間に100℃前後が温度差が生じ
たのに対し、本発明実施例のヒータ3を使用した場合に
は、管外側部の温度TA と管内側部の温度tA との間に
温度差が殆ど生じないことが確認できた。
【0016】従って、本発明実施例のヒータ3を使用す
ると、管端部を均一に加熱することができ、ばらつきの
ない接合強度を得ることができる。しかも、突起3bの
先端面と対面する管端面11a,12aのみが輻射熱
(遠赤外線)により加熱されるので、加熱が管端面から
熱伝導により軸方向にのみ進行し、これにより、管端部
が不必要に溶融されることがなく、溶融量をごく僅かと
した状態で加圧接合を行える。その結果、管内面へのビ
ードの突出量を最小限に抑えることができる。
【0017】なお、以上の実施例では管端面を管軸に対
し直角な面としているが、各管材の管端面11a,12
aの内側周縁の角に僅かな面取りを施しておけば、内面
ビードの突出高さを更に低くすることも可能になる。

る間隔は1mm程度が好ましいが、その間隔は1mm以上で
あっても、本発明は実施可能である。

3aに突起3bを一体形成した構造しているが、例えば
図3に示すように、突起103bを独立部品とし、それ
をヒータ熱板103aにボルトナット等により着脱自在
に装着する構造(ヒータフェイス方式)とすれば、接続
配管のサイズ替えを容易に行うことができる。
【0020】また、サイズ替えの容易化をはかる場合、
図4(A) 〜(C) に示すように、熱板203aの内部に、
複数種の管サイズに応じた径の直円筒体203b1 〜2
03b3 を配設し、その各直円筒体を、接続管材のサイ
ズに応じて、熱板203aから自在に出し入れできる、
といった構造を採用してもよい。なお、各直円筒体20
3b1 〜203b3 を出し入れする機構は、ここでは省
略するが、ねじ機構またはカム機構などを利用すれば実
現可能である。
【0021】さらに、本発明実施例では、ヒータの熱板
3a(突起3bを含む)をアルミニウム製としている
が、その熱板の材質は、特に限定はなく、例えば鉄、真
鍮、ステンレスあるいはセラミックスであってもよい。
また、ヒータは、カートリッジ式のもの、あるいは鋳込
みヒータのいずれであってもよい。さらにまた、突起3
bの先端面への遠赤外線放射材料の塗布はなくても、先
と同等な効果は達成できる。
【0022】なお、本発明の突合せ接続装置は、PPS
のほか、例えばPEEK(ポリエーテルエーテルケト
ン),PES(ポリエーテルサルフォン),PET(ポ
リエチレンテレフタレート)またはPVDF(ポリフッ
化ビニリデン)などの高融点の熱可塑性樹脂で成形され
た管材の突合せ接続に適している。

【発明の効果】以上説明したように、本発明の突合せ溶
接装置によれば、内径・外径が接続管材と略等しい直円
筒形の突起をヒータに設け、その突起の先端面と接続管
材の管端面とを対面させた状態で、管端部の加熱溶融を
行うように構成したから、管端部を均一に加熱すること
が可能となり、これにより接合部の肉厚方向における接
合強度のばらつきがなくなる。その結果、接合強度の信
頼性が向上する。

    (57)【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】 熱可塑性樹脂で成形された管材を突合せ
    融着によって接続する装置であって、互いに対向する一
    対のクランプとヒータを有し、上記一対のクランプにそ
    れぞれ管材を把持した状態で、このクランプ間に上記ヒ
    ータを配置して各管材の管端部を非接触の状態で加熱溶
    融し、その各溶融部分を当該一対のクランプの相対的な
    移動により突合わせるよう構成された溶接装置におい
    て、上記ヒータには管端面と対向する面に、それぞれ、
    内径・外径が接続を行う管材と略等しい直円筒形の突起
    が設けられ、かつ、その各突起の円筒軸は、上記クラン
    プ間に上記ヒータを配置した状態で当該クランプの把持
    中心に一致することを特徴とする熱可塑性樹脂管材の突
    合せ溶接装置。
