上述した従来の磁気ディスク装置のHDAは、磁気ディ

る。一方、HDAでは位置決め機構にベアリング等の摺動
部が存在するために長期間運転するとこれらの部分から
塵埃が発生する。これらの塵埃の一部はHDA内に設けた
エアフィルタにて除去されるが、完全には除去されず、
HDA内を浮遊している。前述したように磁気ディスクか
ら飛散した潤滑材はこれらの内部発生塵埃を含んでHDA
のエンクロージャ6の内壁に凝結し、一定の大きさに成
長すると、再び落下若しくは飛散する。このとき、微少
間隔で磁気ディスク表面を浮上している磁気ヘッド2も
しくは磁気ディスク1に落下すれば、ヘッドの浮上姿勢
がくずれ、磁気ヘッド2と磁気ディスク1が接触し、い
わゆるヘッドクラッシュが発生し、重大な障害が発生す
るという大きな欠点があった。
