Abstract
Description
(i)膜シールアセンブリの第1の側及び第2の側にそれぞれ対応する第1の面及び第2の面を有する中央領域であって、イオン伝導性材料を含む、中央領域と、
(ii)膜シールアセンブリの第1の側及び第2の側にそれぞれ対応する第1の面及び第2の面を有する内側周辺境界領域であって、第1のシール材料を含み、内側周辺境界領域が、中央領域を取り囲む、内側周辺境界領域と、
(iii)膜シールアセンブリの第1の側及び第2の側にそれぞれ対応する第1の面及び第2の面を有する外側周辺境界領域であって、第2のシール材料を含み、外側周辺境界領域が、内側周辺境界領域を取り囲む、外側周辺境界領域と、を備え、
第1のシール材料及び第2のシール材料が異なる、膜シールアセンブリを提供する。
(a)イオン伝導性材料を堆積させて、中央領域を形成する工程と、
(b)第1のシール材料を堆積させて、内側周辺境界領域を形成する工程と、
(c)第2のシール材料を堆積させて、外側周辺境界領域を形成する工程と、を含む。
(d)本発明の第7の態様に記載の方法によって、膜シールアセンブリを調製する工程と、
(e)中央領域上に触媒成分を堆積させて、中央領域上に第1の触媒層を形成する工程と、を含む。
(f)担体材料上に触媒成分を堆積させて、第1の触媒層を形成する工程と、
(g)触媒層上にイオン伝導性材料を堆積させて、中央領域を形成する工程と、
(i)第1のシール材料を堆積させて、内側周辺境界領域を形成する工程と、
(j)第2のシール材料を堆積させて、外側周辺境界領域を形成する工程と、を含む。
(i)白金族金属(白金、パラジウム、ロジウム、ルテニウム、イリジウム、及びオスミウム)、
(ii)金若しくは銀、
(iii)卑金属、
又はこれらの金属若しくはこれらの酸化物のうちの1つ以上を含む合金若しくは混合物から選択され得る。卑金属は、貴金属ではないスズ又は遷移金属である。貴金属は、白金族金属(白金、パラジウム、ロジウム、ルテニウム、イリジウム、若しくはオスミウム)、又は金である。好ましい卑金属は、銅、コバルト、ニッケル、亜鉛、鉄、チタン、モリブデン、バナジウム、マンガン、ニオブ、タンタル、クロム、及びスズである。典型的には、電解触媒は、白金族金属、又は好ましくは卑金属、上記で定義される好ましい卑金属との白金族金属の合金を含む。特に、電解触媒は、白金、又は卑金属、上記で定義される好ましい卑金属、より好ましくはニッケル若しくはコバルト、最も好ましくはニッケルとの白金の合金を含む。白金の合金化金属との原子比は、典型的には、3:1~1:3の範囲内にあり、これを含む。電解触媒が担持触媒である場合、担体材料上の金属粒子の充填量は、得られる電解触媒の重量の、好適には、10~90重量%、好ましくは、15~75重量%の範囲であり得る。
Claims (28)
- 第1の側及び第2の側を備える膜シールアセンブリであって、前記膜シールアセンブリが、
(i)前記膜シールアセンブリの前記第1の側及び前記第2の側にそれぞれ対応する第1の面及び第2の面を有する中央領域であって、イオン伝導性材料を含む、中央領域と、
(ii)前記膜シールアセンブリの前記第1の側及び前記第2の側にそれぞれ対応する第1の面及び第2の面を有する内側周辺境界領域であって、第1のシール材料を含み、前記内側周辺境界領域が、前記中央領域を取り囲む、内側周辺境界領域と、
(iii)前記膜シールアセンブリの前記第1の側及び前記第2の側にそれぞれ対応する第1の面及び第2の面を有する外側周辺境界領域であって、第2のシール材料を含み、前記外側周辺境界領域が、前記内側周辺境界領域を取り囲む、外側周辺境界領域と、を備え、
前記第1のシール材料及び前記第2のシール材料が異なる、膜シールアセンブリ。 - 前記第1のシール材料が、前記第2のシール材料のヤング率よりも小さいヤング率を有する、請求項1に記載の膜シールアセンブリ。
- 前記第1のシール材料が、前記中央領域における前記イオン伝導性材料のヤング率よりも大きいヤング率を有する、請求項2に記載の膜シールアセンブリ。
- 前記中央領域の前記第1の面及び前記第2の面が、それぞれ、前記内側周辺境界領域の前記第1の面及び前記第2の面と同一平面上にある、請求項1~3のいずれか一項に記載の膜シールアセンブリ。
- 前記中央領域の前記第1の面及び前記第2の面が、それぞれ、前記内側周辺境界領域の前記第1の面及び前記第2の面と同一平面上になく、前記中央領域の厚さが、前記内側周辺境界領域の厚さ未満である、請求項1~3のいずれか一項に記載の膜シールアセンブリ。
- 前記内側周辺境界領域の前記第1の面及び前記第2の面が、それぞれ、前記外側周辺境界領域の前記第1の面及び前記第2の面と同一平面上にある、請求項1~3のいずれか一項に記載の膜シールアセンブリ。
- 前記内側周辺境界領域の前記第1の面及び前記第2の面が、それぞれ、前記外側周辺境界領域の前記第1の面及び前記第2の面と同一平面上になく、前記内側周辺境界領域の厚さが、前記外側周辺境界領域の厚さ未満である、請求項1~3のいずれか一項に記載の膜シールアセンブリ。
- 前記中央領域に平面状補強構成要素を更に備える、請求項1~5のいずれか一項に記載の膜シールアセンブリ。
- 前記平面状補強構成要素が、前記内側周辺境界領域内に延在する、請求項6に記載の膜シールアセンブリ。
- 前記平面状補強構成要素が、前記外側周辺境界領域内に延在する、請求項7に記載の膜シールアセンブリ。
- 請求項1~8のいずれか一項に記載の膜シールアセンブリと、前記膜シールアセンブリの前記第1の側にある第1のサブガスケットと、前記膜シールアセンブリの前記第2の側にある第2のサブガスケットと、を備えるサブガスケット付き膜シールアセンブリであって、前記第1のサブガスケットが、前記外側周辺境界領域の前記第1の面と接触し、前記第2のサブガスケットが、前記外側周辺境界領域の前記第2の面と接触している、サブガスケット付き膜シールアセンブリ。
- 前記第1のサブガスケット及び前記第2のサブガスケットが、前記内側周辺境界領域に重なり、前記第1のサブガスケットが、前記内側周辺境界領域の前記第1の面と接触し、前記第2のサブガスケットが、前記内側周辺境界領域の前記第2の面と接触している、請求項9に記載のサブガスケット付き膜シールアセンブリ。
- 請求項1~8のいずれか一項に記載の膜シールアセンブリと、前記中央領域の前記第1の面上の第1の触媒層と、を備える触媒化膜シールアセンブリであって、前記触媒層が、第1の面及び第2の面を有し、前記触媒層の前記第2の面が、前記中央領域の前記第1の面と接触している、触媒化膜シールアセンブリ。
- 前記第1の触媒層が、前記内側周辺境界領域に重なり、前記第1の触媒層の前記第2の面が、前記内側周辺境界領域の前記第1の面と接触している、請求項11に記載の触媒化膜シールアセンブリ。
- 前記中央領域の前記第2の面上に第2の触媒層を更に備え、前記第2の触媒層が、第1の面及び第2の面を有し、前記第2の触媒層の前記第2の面が、前記中央領域の前記第2の面と接触している、請求項11又は12に記載の触媒化膜シールアセンブリ。
- 前記第2の触媒層が、前記内側周辺境界領域に重なり、前記第2の触媒層の前記第2の面が、前記内側周辺境界領域の前記第2の面と接触している、請求項13に記載の触媒化膜シールアセンブリ。
- 前記第1の触媒層の前記第1の面が、前記内側周辺境界領域の前記第1の面と同一平面上にある、請求項11、13、又は14のいずれか一項に記載の触媒化膜シールアセンブリ。
- 前記第2の触媒層の前記第1の面が、前記内側周辺境界領域の前記第2の面と同一平面上にある、請求項11~13又は15のいずれか一項に記載の触媒化膜シールアセンブリ。
- 請求項11~16のいずれか一項に記載の触媒化膜シールアセンブリと、前記触媒化膜シールアセンブリの前記第1の側にある第1のサブガスケットと、前記触媒化膜シールアセンブリの前記第2の側にある第2のサブガスケットと、を備えるサブガスケット付き触媒化膜シールアセンブリであって、前記第1のサブガスケットが、前記外側周辺境界領域の前記第1の面と接触し、前記第2のサブガスケットが、前記外側周辺境界領域の前記第2の面と接触している、サブガスケット付き触媒化膜シールアセンブリ。
- 前記第1のサブガスケット及び前記第2のサブガスケットが、前記内側周辺境界領域に重なり、前記第1のサブガスケットが、前記内側周辺境界領域の前記第1の面と接触し、前記第2のサブガスケットが、前記内側周辺境界領域の前記第2の面と接触している、請求項17に記載のサブガスケット付き触媒化膜シールアセンブリ。
- 請求項17又は18に記載のサブガスケット付き触媒化膜シールアセンブリと、前記サブガスケット付き触媒化膜シールアセンブリの前記第1の側にある第1のガス拡散層と、前記サブガスケット付き触媒化膜シールアセンブリの前記第2の側にある第2のガス拡散層と、を備える、サブガスケット付き膜シール電極アセンブリ。
- 前記第1のガス拡散層及び前記第2のガス拡散層が、前記外側周辺境界領域に重ならない、請求項19に記載のサブガスケット付き膜シール電極アセンブリ。
- 前記第1のガス拡散層及び前記第2のガス拡散層が、それぞれ、前記内側周辺境界領域の前記第1の面及び前記第2の面に結合されている、請求項19又は20に記載のサブガスケット付き膜シール電極アセンブリ。
- 請求項1~8のいずれか一項に記載の膜シールアセンブリ、請求項9若しくは10に記載のサブガスケット付き膜シールアセンブリ、請求項11~16のいずれか一項に記載の触媒化膜シールアセンブリ、請求項17若しくは18に記載のサブガスケット付き触媒化膜シールアセンブリ、又は請求項19~21のいずれか一項に記載のサブガスケット付き膜シール電極アセンブリを備える、燃料電池。
- 前記燃料電池が、プロトン交換膜燃料電池である、請求項22に記載の燃料電池。
- 請求項1~8のいずれか一項に記載の膜シールアセンブリを調製する方法であって、
(a)イオン伝導性材料を堆積させて、前記中央領域を形成する工程と、
(b)第1のシール材料を堆積させて、前記内側周辺境界領域を形成する工程と、
(c)第2のシール材料を堆積させて、前記外側周辺境界領域を形成する工程と、を含む、方法。 - 請求項11~16のいずれか一項に記載の触媒化膜シールアセンブリを調製する方法であって、
(d)請求項24に記載の方法によって、膜シールアセンブリを調製する工程と、
(e)前記中央領域上に触媒成分を堆積させて、前記中央領域上に前記第1の触媒層を形成する工程と、を含む、方法。 - 請求項11~16のいずれか一項に記載の触媒化膜シールアセンブリを調製する方法であって、
(f)担体材料上に触媒成分を堆積させて、第1の触媒層を形成する工程と、
(g)前記触媒層上にイオン伝導性材料を堆積させて、前記中央領域を形成する工程と、
(i)第1のシール材料を堆積させて、前記内側周辺境界領域を形成する工程と、
(j)第2のシール材料を堆積させて、前記外側周辺境界領域を形成する工程と、を含む、方法。
