本発明のビスマス−ジチオカルボキシレート錯体構造を有するポリマーは、下記一般式(1)で表される構造を有する。

本発明のビスマス−ジチオカルボキシレート錯体構造を有するポリマー(以下単に「Bi錯体ポリマー」ともいう。)は、下記一般式(1)で表される構造を有する。
アリール基は、単環アリール基でも多環アリール基でもよく、例えば、フェニル基、ナフチル基、アントラセニル基およびビフェニル基等が用いられる。これらのなかでも、合成の容易さや収率などの観点から、フェニル基、ビフェニル基、ナフチル基およびフルオレニル基等が好ましく、フェニル基がより好ましい。
アリーレン基は、単環アリーレン基でも多環アリーレン基でもよい。例えば、下記のものが挙げられる。*は結合手の位置を表す。
また、長鎖を側鎖に導入することで、ポリマー鎖パッキングを抑えて、移動度を向上させる効果もある。
なお、モデル化合物、Bi錯体ポリマー(3)およびBi錯体ポリマー(4)とも、可視領域に吸収帯を持ち、大気中で安定な橙色固体である。
Bi錯体ポリマー(4)も、1,4−ジオキサンに溶解させた50μM溶液の蛍光分析では、蛍光量子収率φは0.001未満となる。UV−vis分光分析では、1,4−ジオキサン溶液は、415〜420nmに吸収極大λmaxを検出するものの、蛍光分析では420nmでは発光を検出しないことからも、Bi錯体ポリマーは蛍光を発光しないことがわかる(図3)。
(i)Bi錯体ポリマー(3)の合成
25mLのナスフラスコを窒素で置換して、これに2,5−ビス(ブロモマグネシオ)−1,4−ビス(2−エチルヘキシロキシ)ベンゼンのTHF溶液(1.0M,0.5mL,0.500mmol)と二硫化炭素(1.10mmol,83.7mg)を加え、室温で1時間撹拌した。ここに、ジクロロフェニルビスムチンのジエチルエーテル分散液を全て加え、室温で24時間撹拌した。反応後、飽和水酸化アンモニウム水溶液(100mL)を加え、有機層を回収し、硫酸ナトリウムを用いて脱水し、その後、溶媒を減圧留去した。残留固体を少量のTHFに溶かし、これをヘキサンに再沈殿する方法で精製を行い、橙色固体の目的物を収率45.7%、収量180mgで得た。
1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3,δ); 8.90-8.79 (2H, ortho-positions of Bi-Ph), 7.82-7.71 (2H, meta-positions of Bi-Ph), 7.46-7.36(1H, para-position of Bi-Ph), 7.19-7.12 (2H, aromatic), 3.97-3.82 (4H, -O-CH 2-),1.80-7.46 (30H, -OCH2CH(CH 2CH 3)CH 2CH 2CH 2CH 3).
Bi錯体ポリマー(3)とそのモデル化合物の1HNMRスペクトルを測定し、モデル化合物の特性シグナルとの比較により、Bi錯体ポリマー(3)の構造を決定した。図1に1HNMRスペクトルを示す。
GPC測定(溶離液:DMF、温度:40℃)の結果、標準ポリスチレン換算による数平均分子量Mnは3,600、分子量分布Mw/Mnは1.36であった。
キニーネ硫酸塩 0.50M 硫酸水溶液を標準として、蛍光分光光度計を用いて355nmの光で励起したときの蛍光量子収率φは0.001未満であり、Bi錯体ポリマー(3)は蛍光性を示さないことがわかった。なお、この相対蛍光量子収率の算出方法は後述する。
Bi錯体ポリマー(3)の50μM 1,4−ジオキサン溶液に、テトラブチルアンモニウムフルオリド(TBAF)を1,4−ジオキサン溶液に溶解させた500μM溶液(10当量のTBAFに相当)を添加したところ、溶液の色が橙色から無色透明に変化した。一週間ほどで蛍光を発現し、その後、常温で10日間蛍光性を示した。呈色の変化および蛍光性は目視で確認することができた。
UV−vis吸収スペクトルから、TBAFを添加すると、440nmに検出された吸収極大波長λmaxが消失し、350nm付近にショルダーピークが検出され、吸収帯が短波長側にシフト(ブルーシフト)していた。目視でも蛍光発光を確認することができた。
PLスペクトルでは、TBAFを添加する前のBi錯体ポリマー(3)ではピークが検出されないが、TBAFを添加すると、蛍光波長(λem)336nmにピークが検出された。前記の相対蛍光量子収率φは0.004であった。
UV−vis吸収スペクトルとPLスペクトルを図2に示す。
(i)Bi錯体ポリマー(4)の合成
25mLのナスフラスコを窒素で置換して、これに2,7−ビス(ブロモマグネシオ)−9,9−ビス(2−エチルヘキシロキシ)フルオレンのTHF溶液(1.0M,0.8mL,0.800mmol)と二硫化炭素(2.00mmol,152mg)を加え、室温で1時間撹拌した。ここに、ジクロロフェニルビスムチンのジエチルエーテル分散液を全て加え、室温で24時間撹拌した。反応後、飽和水酸化アンモニウム水溶液(100mL)を加え、有機層を回収し、硫酸ナトリウムを用いて脱水し、その後、溶媒を減圧留去した。残留固体を少量のTHFに溶かし、これをヘキサンに再沈殿する方法で精製を行い、橙色固体の目的物を収率61.3%、収量418mgで得た。
1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3,δ); 8.90-8.83 (2H), 8.41-8.26 (3H),7.81-7.55 (4H), 7.45-7.31 (2H), 2.15-1.93 (4H), 1.00-0.38 (30H).
GPC測定(溶離液:DMF、温度:40℃)の結果、標準ポリスチレン換算による数平均分子量Mnは2,700、分子量分布Mw/Mnは1.4であった。
励起光355nmにおいて、キニーネ硫酸塩 0.50M 硫酸水溶液を標準とする蛍光量子収率φは0.001未満であり、Bi錯体ポリマー(4)は発光性を示さないことがわかった。
サンプル瓶にBi錯体ポリマー(4)の1,4−ジオキサン溶液(500μM、1.0mL)にTBAFの1,4−ジオキサン溶液(5000μM、1.0mL)入れて混ぜ合わせ、さらに8mLの1,4−ジオキサン溶液を加えて希釈した。これを10分間放置すると、橙色から無色透明に変化し、速やかに蛍光性を示すことが目視できた。
UV−vis吸収スペクトルから、TBAFを添加すると、415nmに検出された吸収極大波長λmaxが消失し、325nm付近にややブロード化したピークが検出され、吸収帯がブルーシフトしていた。目視でも蛍光発光を確認することができた。
PLスペクトルでは、TBAFを添加する前のBi錯体ポリマー(4)ではピークが検出されないが、TBAFを添加した混合溶液をその最大吸収波長(355nm)で励起させると400nm付近に発光極大が観測できた。この混合溶液の相対蛍光量子収率は10-5M硫酸キニーネ硫酸(0.5M)水溶液を標準として以下の式から算出し、φは0.20であった。
