Description
[02] 本発明は、流体成分の分離に利用される透過膜システムに関し、特に、スパイラル巻き透過膜要素に関する。
[04] 当該技術分野で知られているスパイラル巻き膜濾過要素は、多孔質の透過キャリアに又はその周囲に密着された膜シートを含む積層構造を含み、これは膜を通過した流体を中心管へと移動させるための経路を作り、一方で、この積層構造は中心管の周囲に渦巻き状に巻かれ、それ自体が多孔質の供給スペーサによって離間され、流体が要素を通って軸方向に流れるようになっている。この供給スペーサは積層構造内の自由で均一な軸方向の流れを維持するために必要であるが、これは軸方向の流路内の流れの制限と圧力降下の原因にもなり、また、流れを制限し、膜に接触する領域を生じさせ、これが生体成長、スケール形成、及び粒子捕捉を通じた膜の閉塞に大きく寄与する。
[08] 本発明の実施形態は、膜の表面に堆積された離間特徴物を有する膜を含むスパイラル巻き透過膜システムで使用するための膜を提供し、離間特徴物は、渦巻き状に巻き上げられる際のスペーサのネスティングを生じさせないように構成される。離間特徴物は、膜が渦巻き状に巻き上げられる際に重なるように配置され得る。
[29] スパイラル巻き要素の膜シートの表面の上、又は透過キャリアシートの上若しくは中に、特徴物をエンボス加工するか又は堆積させて隣接する膜シートを離間させると、供給スペーサメッシュと比較していくつかの利点が得られるものであり、これには、より開けた流路、より低い圧力降下、より低減した汚染、及びメッシュを用いて実用的と思われていたものよりもより薄い供給スペースを生み出す能力が含まれる。膜シート自体は、多孔質のポリプロピレン層で作られ得るものであり、多孔質のポリスルホン層に鋳造された膜ポリマ材料によってポリスルホン層に接着される。膜シートを作るために様々な他の材料及び方法が使用可能である。様々な程度の除去効率を提供する膜シートが作成可能である。精密濾過膜は、産業利用において、バクテリア及び原生動物では典型である約0.1ミクロンほどの小さい物質、又はこのようなサイズの他の汚染物質を除去し得るのが典型である。限外濾過膜は、約0.01ミクロンほどの小さい孔径を有し得るものであり、例えば、流体源からウイルスを除去し得る。ナノ濾過膜は、二価イオンを除去するのに十分に小さい孔径を有し得るが、ナトリウム及び塩化物などの一価イオンを通すと思われる。ナノ濾過の利用の一例は、例えば炭酸カルシウムを除去する軟水化である。逆浸透が、典型では最小の孔径であり、一価塩を除去するのに十分であり、典型では脱塩の利用で用いられる。このようなスペーサ特徴物の様々な構造がBargerらによって開示されており、参照によって本願に援用されるBradfordらの国際出願PCT/US14/18813号は、膜シートに離間特徴物を堆積するのに適した様々な方法及び材料を開示している。このような方法及び材料は、本発明の実施形態を実行するのに有用であり得る。
Claims (30)
- スパイラル巻き透過膜システムで使用するための膜であって、膜の表面に堆積された離間特徴物を有する前記膜を含み、前記離間特徴物が、渦巻き状に巻き上げられる際のスペーサのネスティングを生じさせないように構成される、膜。
- 前記離間特徴物が、前記膜が渦巻き状に巻き上げられる際に重なるように配置される、請求項1に記載の膜。
- 前記離間特徴物が、不均一な離間距離で相互に離間する実質的に平行な複数の線分を含む、請求項1に記載の膜。
- 前記複数の線分の第1の部分が、不均一な離間距離で相互に離間されることによってパターンを形成し、前記複数の線分の他の部分が前記パターンの繰り返しを含む、請求項3に記載の膜。
- 前記第1の部分が、最初の線分から最後の線分まで計測して少なくとも6インチに及ぶ、請求項4に記載の膜。
- 前記第1の部分が、前記最初の線分から前記最後の線分まで計測して少なくとも12インチに及ぶ、請求項5に記載の膜。
- 前記離間の変化量が、隣接する離間特徴物間の平均距離の15%未満である、請求項4に記載の膜。
- 前記離間特徴物が、相互に離間され、且つ不均一な角度で相互に非平行に方向付けされた複数の線分を含む、請求項1に記載の膜。
- 前記複数の線分の第1の部分が、相互に対して不均一な角度で方向付けされてパターンを形成し、前記複数の線分の他の部分が前記パターンの繰り返しを含む、請求項8に記載の膜。
- 前記パターンが、最初の線分から最後の線分まで計測して少なくとも6インチに及ぶ、請求項9に記載の膜。
- 前記パターンが、前記最初の線分から前記最後の線分まで計測して少なくとも12インチに及ぶ、、請求項10に記載の膜。
- 前記角度の変化量が、前記パターンに対する前記特徴物の平均角度の15%未満である、請求項9に記載の膜。
- 前記離間特徴物が、前記表面の上に、相互に平行に、第1のグリッドに配置された第1の複数の線分と、前記表面の上に、相互に平行に、第2のグリッドに配置された第2の複数の線分と、を含み、前記第1の複数の線分が、前記第2の複数の線分と交差せず、前記第1の複数の線分が前記第2の複数の線分に対して0度以外の角度で配置される、請求項1に記載の膜。
- 前記角度が、少なくとも1度であるが45度以下である、請求項13に記載の膜。
- 前記角度が45度である、請求項14に記載の膜。
- 前記第1の複数の各離間特徴物が、前記第1の複数の隣接する離間特徴物から1インチの4分の1以下離れている、請求項13に記載の膜。
- 前記第1の複数の各離間特徴物が、前記第1の複数の隣接する離間特徴物から1インチの10分の1以下離れている、請求項16に記載の膜。
- 前記離間特徴物が、前記離間特徴物を横断する少なくとも1つの経路に沿って定められて計測された不均一な離間距離で相互に離間する複数の曲線状セグメントを含む、請求項1に記載の膜。
- 前記離間特徴物が、前記膜が前記透過膜システムの中に作られる際に前記離間特徴物が隣接する層の上のこれらの離間特徴物を少なくとも部分的に支持するように構成される、請求項1に記載の膜。
- 前記離間特徴物が、前記膜の縁辺の近くに配置される、請求項1に記載の膜。
- 前記離間特徴物が、前記膜の前記表面全体に配置される、請求項1に記載の膜。
