Abstract
Description
(1) 光導波路が形成された光導波路基板と、該光導波路基板に設けられ、該光導波路に電界を印加する制御電極と、該光導波路基板の近傍に配置され、該制御電極に外部からの電気信号を中継する電気配線を備えた中継基板とを備えた光変調器において、該制御電極が信号電極を有し、該信号電極を終端する終端抵抗を含む終端手段を備え、該終端手段の少なくとも一部は、該中継基板に設けられていることを特徴とする。
図2乃至6は、光変調器の平面図であり、本発明において、光導波路が形成された光導波路基板1と、該光導波路基板に設けられ、該光導波路に電界を印加する制御電極(不図示)と、該光導波路基板の近傍に配置され、該制御電極に外部からの電気信号を中継する電気配線を備えた中継基板3とを備えた光変調器において、該制御電極が信号電極を有し、該信号電極を終端する終端抵抗70を含む終端手段Tを備え、該終端手段の少なくとも一部は、該中継基板3に設けられていることを特徴とする。
光送信装置の基本構成は、光変調器に導入する光波を発生する光源、光変調器、光変調器に信号を印加するデータ生成部、及び光変調器から発生する変調光を外部に導出するための光ファイバから構成される。

Claims (8)
- 光導波路が形成された光導波路基板と、
該光導波路基板に設けられ、該光導波路に電界を印加する制御電極と、
該光導波路基板の近傍に配置され、該制御電極に外部からの電気信号を中継する電気配線を備えた中継基板とを備えた光変調器において、
該制御電極が信号電極を有し、
該信号電極を終端する終端抵抗を含む終端手段を備え、
該終端手段の少なくとも一部は、該中継基板に設けられていることを特徴とする光変調器。 - 請求項1に記載の光変調器において、
1つの終端手段には、少なくとも2つ以上の終端抵抗が設けられていることを特徴とする光変調器。 - 請求項1又は2に記載の光変調器において、
該制御電極が信号電極とDCバイアス電極とを備え、
該中継基板には、少なくとも該DCバイアス電極にDCバイアス電圧を中継する電気配線が設けられていることを特徴とする光変調器。 - 請求項1乃至3のいずれかに記載の光変調器において、
該光導波路を伝搬する光波の一部又は該光導波路から放射される放射光の一部を受光する受光素子を有し、
該受光素子からの受光信号を外部に導出するための受光用電気配線が、該中継基板に設けられていることを特徴とする光変調器。 - 請求項4に記載の光変調器において、
該中継基板に設けられた該終端手段と該受光用電気配線との間には、DCバイアス電圧を中継する電気配線、接地電極、又は該中継基板に形成される溝の少なくとも1つが設けられていることを特徴とする光変調器。 - 請求項1乃至3のいずれかに記載の光変調器において、
該光導波路を伝搬する光波の一部又は該光導波路から放射される放射光の一部を受光する受光素子を有し、
該受光素子からの受光信号を外部に導出するための受光用電気配線が、該終端手段を設けた中継基板には、配置されていないことを特徴とする光変調器。 - 請求項1乃至6のいずれかに記載の光変調器において、
該光導波路基板と該中継基板とを搭載する筐体を備え、
該中継基板の厚さは、該光導波路基板よりも薄く形成され、
該中継基板が搭載される該筐体の搭載面と、該光導波路基板が搭載される該筐体の搭載面との間には段差が形成されていることを特徴とする光変調器。 - 請求項1乃至7のいずれかに記載の光変調器と、
該光変調器に印加するデータ信号を発生するデータ発生部と、
該光変調器に光波を入力する光源とを備えることを特徴とする光送信装置。
