Abstract
【解決手段】複数のサブフレームは、各サブフレームに2の累乗単位で異なる階調を表現する、互いに階調の異なる複数の重み付け要素で構成され、一サブフレームの時間的に最後に位置する重み付け要素が最大階調となるように配列されており、一フレームを構成するサブフレームの数をX(Xは2以上の整数)とし、各サブフレームで表現可能な最大階調を2Y−1(Yは2以上の整数)としたときに、点灯制御部50は、一フレームで表現する階調がX・2Y-1以上、X(2Y−1)−2Y-1以下である場合に、一フレームにおいて、一部のサブフレームに含まれる時間的に最後に位置する重み付け要素が、当該一フレーム中に含まれる少なくとも一のサブフレームでOFFとなるように各サブフレームに対する階調の割り当てを制御する。

Claims (5)
- 複数の共通ラインと、
複数の駆動ラインと、
前記複数の共通ラインのうちの1つと前記複数の駆動ラインのうちの1つとにそれぞれが接続される複数の発光素子と、
前記複数の共通ラインに時分割で電圧を印加する走査部と、
前記複数の駆動ラインのうち点灯対象となる発光素子に接続された駆動ラインから所定のタイミングで電流を引き込む駆動部と、
前記複数の発光素子のそれぞれの発光量を、前記発光素子の点灯時間を異ならせることで異なる階調として表現するように点灯制御を行うための点灯制御部と
を備え、
一フレームが分割された複数のサブフレームに、一フレームで表現すべき階調を分割して割り当てて、時分割で各サブフレームに割り当てられた階調を表示させ、一フレームを構成する複数のサブフレームの階調の総和でもって一フレームの階調を表現するよう構成された表示装置であって、
前記複数のサブフレームは、各サブフレームに2の累乗単位で異なる階調を表現する、互いに階調の異なる複数の重み付け要素で構成され、一サブフレームの時間的に最後に位置する重み付け要素が最大階調となるように配列されており、
一フレームを構成するサブフレームの数をX(Xは2以上の整数)とし、各サブフレームで表現可能な最大階調を2Y−1(Yは2以上の整数)としたときに、
前記点灯制御部は、一フレームで表現する階調がX・2Y-1以上、X(2Y−1)−2Y-1以下である場合に、一フレームにおいて、一部のサブフレームに含まれる時間的に最後に位置する重み付け要素が、当該一フレーム中に含まれる少なくとも一のサブフレームでOFFとなるように各サブフレームに対する階調の割り当てを制御してなる表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、
一フレーム中に含まれる複数のサブフレームの内、一サブフレームにおける時間的に最後に位置する前記重み付け要素で発光素子の点灯がOFFとなるサブフレームの数が半数以上である表示装置。 - 請求項1又は2に記載の表示装置であって、
前記点灯制御部は、一フレームにおいて、各サブフレームへの階調の最小値と最大値との差が2以上となるように、各サブフレームに対して階調を割り当てる表示装置。 - 請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の表示装置であって、
一フレーム中に含まれる複数のサブフレームのうち、隣接するサブフレーム間での階調の差が2Y-1+1である表示装置。 - 請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の表示装置であって、
前記複数のサブフレームの配列は、各サブフレームに含まれる重み付け要素が、時間経過に伴い大きい階調となるように配列されてなる表示装置。
