Claims (8)
- 複数の画素領域を備えてなる映像表示パネルと、
デジタル映像データをアナログ映像信号に変換させると共に、前記アナログ映像信号がオーバードライビング又は増速駆動されるように複数のガンマ電圧レベルを変調して生成し、前記変調生成された複数のガンマ電圧レベルに対応するように前記デジタル映像データの階調レベルを変調させ、前記映像表示パネルに前記変調された映像データによる映像が表示されるようにする駆動集積回路と、
を備え、
前記駆動集積回路は、
0階調電圧からあらかじめ設定された基準電圧までのガンマ電圧レベルで前記デジタル映像データの全体階調レベルが表現され得るように前記デジタル映像データをFRC(Frame Rate Control)方式で1次変調する第1データ変調部と、
前フレームの映像データと前記1次変調された映像データとを比較し、比較結果による2次変調映像データを出力する第2データ変調部と、
前記2次変調映像データが入力され、前記ゲート及びデータラインの駆動タイミングを制御すると共に、前記0階調電圧から前記あらかじめ設定された基準電圧までの第1ガンマ電圧レベル、及び前記あらかじめ設定された基準電圧よりも大きい第2ガンマ電圧レベルを設定するガンマ電圧設定信号を生成するタイミング制御部と、
前記2次変調映像データに対応するように、前記タイミング制御部からの前記ガンマ電圧設定信号に応じて、前記0階調電圧から前記あらかじめ設定された基準電圧までのガンマ電圧、及び前記あらかじめ設定された基準電圧よりも大きいガンマ電圧を生成するガンマ電圧発生部と、
を備える、有機発光ダイオード表示装置。 - 前記第1データ変調部は、
上記の0階調電圧からあらかじめ設定された基準電圧までのガンマ電圧レベルで前記デジタル映像データの全体階調が表現されるよう、前記デジタル映像データの画素データ別ビット数をそれぞれ拡張させた後、あらかじめ設定された定数をそれぞれかけて画素別拡張データを生成し、
前記各画素別拡張データの下位2ビット値によってFRC(Frame Rate Control)データを選択比較した後、前記FRCデータとの比較結果に基づいて前記各画素別拡張データのビット数を縮小及び変調することによって前記1次変調データを生成することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の有機発光ダイオード表示装置。 - 前記第2データ変調部は、
前フレームの映像データを記憶及び出力するフレームメモリーと、
前記前フレームの映像データと前記1次変調された映像データとの比較結果に基づき、前記1次変調された映像データの階調レベルが増加又は減少するように、あらかじめ設定された前記2次変調映像データを出力するルック−アップテーブルと、
を備えていることを特徴とする、請求項2に記載の有機発光ダイオード表示装置。 - 複数の画素領域を備えてなる映像表示パネルを用いて映像を表示する段階と、
デジタル映像データをアナログ映像信号に変換させると共に、前記アナログ映像信号がオーバードライビング又は増速駆動されるように複数のガンマ電圧レベルを変調して生成し、前記変調生成された複数のガンマ電圧レベルに対応するように前記デジタル映像データの階調レベルを変調させ、前記映像表示パネルに前記変調された映像データによる映像が表示されるようにする段階と、
を含み、
前記映像表示パネルに前記変調された映像データによる映像が表示されるようにする段階は、
0階調電圧からあらかじめ設定された基準電圧までのガンマ電圧レベルで前記デジタル映像データの全体階調レベルが表現されるように前記デジタル映像データをFRC(Frame Rate Control)方式で1次変調する段階と、
前フレームの映像データと前記1次変調された映像データとを比較し、比較結果による2次変調映像データを出力する段階と、
前記2次変調映像データが入力され、前記ゲート及びデータラインの駆動タイミングを制御すると共に、前記0階調電圧から前記あらかじめ設定された基準電圧までの第1ガンマ電圧レベル、及び前記あらかじめ設定された基準電圧よりも大きい第2ガンマ電圧レベルを設定するガンマ電圧設定信号を生成する段階と、
前記2次変調映像データに対応するように、前記0階調電圧から前記あらかじめ設定された基準電圧までのガンマ電圧及び前記あらかじめ設定された基準電圧よりも大きいガンマ電圧を生成する段階と、
を含むことを特徴とする、有機発光ダイオード表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記デジタル映像データをFRC方式で1次変調する段階は、
前記0階調電圧からあらかじめ設定された基準電圧までのガンマ電圧レベルで前記デジタル映像データの全体階調が表現されるよう、前記デジタル映像データの画素データ別ビット数をそれぞれ拡張させた後、あらかじめ設定された定数をそれぞれかけて画素別拡張データを生成する段階と、
前記各画素別拡張データの下位2ビット値によってFRCデータを選択比較した後、前記FRCデータとの比較結果に基づいて前記各画素別拡張データのビット数を縮小及び変調することによって前記1次変調データを生成する段階と、
を含むことを特徴とする、請求項4に記載の有機発光ダイオード表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記2次変調映像データを出力する段階は、
前フレームの映像データを記憶及び出力する段階と、
前記前フレームの映像データと前記1次変調された映像データとの比較結果に基づき、前記1次変調された映像データの階調レベルが増加又は減少されるように、あらかじめ設定された前記2次変調映像データを出力する段階と、
を含むことを特徴とする、請求項5に記載の有機発光ダイオード表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記タイミング制御部は、前記第2ガンマ電圧レベルを、前記オーバードライビングを適応するために十分な255階調電圧よりも高い電圧レベルに昇圧するように変調設定することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の有機発光ダイオード表示装置。
- 前記ガンマ電圧設定信号を生成する段階は、前記第2ガンマ電圧レベルを、前記オーバードライビングを適応するために十分な255階調電圧よりも高い電圧レベルに昇圧するように変調設定することを特徴とする、請求項4に記載の有機発光ダイオード表示装置の駆動方法。
