Abstract
【解決手段】表示パネルの1水平走査ライン分に対応した複数の映像データ片を第1の映像データ群及び当該第1の映像データ群とは異なる第2の映像データ群に区分けした際の第1の映像データ群に属する映像データ片の各々をアナログの電圧値を有する階調電圧に変換し、当該階調電圧の各々に基づく補間処理により第2の映像データ群に属する映像データ片の各々に対応した階調電圧を得る。

Claims (8)
- 各画素の輝度レベルを表す映像データ片の系列を含む入力映像データを受けて、前記映像データ片の各々に対応した階調電圧を表示パネルに印加する駆動装置であって、
前記表示パネルの1水平走査ライン分に対応した複数の前記映像データ片を第1の映像データ群及び当該第1の映像データ群とは異なる第2の映像データ群に区分けした際の前記第1の映像データ群に属する前記映像データ片の各々をアナログの電圧値を有する前記階調電圧に変換するD/A変換器と、
前記D/A変換器が生成した前記階調電圧の各々に基づく補間処理により、前記第2の映像データ群に属する前記映像データ片の各々に対応した前記階調電圧を得る階調電圧補間回路と、を有することを特徴とする表示パネルの駆動装置。 - 前記第1の映像データ群は、前記表示パネルの水平走査ラインに並置されている画素列中においてk個(kは自然数)おきに配置されている画素に対応した前記映像データ片からなることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示パネルの駆動装置。
- 前記階調電圧補間回路は、前記第1の映像データ群に属する前記映像データのうちの1の映像データ片に基づいて前記D/A変換器が生成した第1の階調電圧と、前記第1の映像データ群に属する前記映像データのうちの前記1の前記映像データ片とは異なる他の映像データ片に基づいて前記D/A変換器が生成した第2の階調電圧と、の平均値を平均階調電圧として求める平均算出部と、
前記第2の映像データ群に属する前記映像データ片に基づき、前記第1の階調電圧、前記第2の階調電圧、及び前記平均階調電圧のうちから1つを選択しこれを前記第2の映像データ群に属する前記映像データ片に対応した前記階調電圧として出力するセレクタと、を含むことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の表示パネルの駆動装置。 - 前記第1の階調電圧及び前記第2の階調電圧の加重平均を加重平均階調電圧として求める加重平均算出部を含み、
前記セレクタは、前記第2の映像データ群に属する前記映像データ片に基づき、前記第1の階調電圧、前記第2の階調電圧、前記平均階調電圧及び前記加重平均階調電圧のうちから1つを選択しこれを前記第2の映像データ群に属する前記映像データ片に対応した前記階調電圧として出力することを特徴とする請求項3に記載の表示パネルの駆動装置。 - 前記水平走査ラインに並置されている前記画素列中において、奇数番目に配置されている前記画素に対応した前記映像データ片が前記第1の映像データ群に属し、偶数番目に配置されている前記画素に対応した前記映像データ片が前記第2の映像データ群に属することを特徴とする請求項2〜4のいずれか1に記載の表示パネルの駆動装置。
- 前記表示パネルの前記画素の各々は、前記水平走査ラインに沿って並置された夫々が赤色、緑色、及び青色を担う3つの表示セルからなり、
各画素に対応した前記映像データ片は、赤色成分を担う前記映像データ片と、緑色成分を担う前記映像データ片と、青色成分を担う前記映像データ片と、からなり、
前記階調電圧補間回路は、夫々が同一の色成分を担う前記映像データ片の各々に基づいて前記D/A変換器が生成した前記第1の階調電圧及び前記第2の階調電圧に基づく補間処理により、前記第2の映像データ群に属する前記同一の色成分を担う前記映像データ片に対応した前記階調電圧を得ることを特徴とする請求項1〜5のいずれか1に記載の表示パネルの駆動装置。 - 各画素の輝度レベルを表す映像データ片の系列を有する入力映像データを受けて、前記映像データ片の各々に対応した階調電圧を表示パネルに印加する駆動装置であって、
前記入力映像データは、前記表示パネルの水平走査ラインに並置されている複数の画素を第1の画素群及び当該第1の画素群とは異なる第2の画素群に区分けした際の前記第1の画素群に属する前記画素に夫々対応した複数の前記映像データ片と、前記第2の画素群に属する前記画素に夫々対応した階調電圧選択データ片と、を含み、
前記第1の画素群に属する前記画素の各々に対応した前記映像データ片の各々をアナログの電圧値に変換し当該電圧値を有する前記階調電圧を得るD/A変換器と、
前記第1の画素群に属する前記映像データのうちの1の映像データ片に基づいて前記D/A変換器が生成した第1の階調電圧と、前記第1の画素群に属する前記映像データのうちの前記1の前記映像データ片とは異なる他の映像データ片に基づいて前記D/A変換器が生成した第2の階調電圧と、の平均値を平均階調電圧として求める平均算出部と、
前記第1の階調電圧及び前記第2の階調電圧の加重平均を加重平均階調電圧として求める加重平均算出部と、
前記第2の画素群に属する前記画素に対応した前記階調電圧選択データ片に基づいて、前記第1の階調電圧、前記第2の階調電圧、前記平均階調電圧及び前記加重平均階調電圧のうちから1つを選択しこれを前記第2の画素群に属する前記画素に対応した前記階調電圧として出力するセレクタと、を有することを特徴とする表示パネルの駆動装置。 - 各画素の輝度レベルを表す映像データ片の系列を有する入力映像データを受けて、前記映像データ片の各々に対応した階調電圧を表示パネルに印加する表示パネル駆動方法であって、
前記表示パネルの1水平走査ライン分に対応した複数の前記映像データ片を第1の映像データ群及び当該第1の映像データ群とは異なる第2の映像データ群に区分けした際の前記第1の映像データ群に属する前記映像データ片の各々をアナログの電圧値を有する前記階調電圧に変換し、
前記階調電圧の各々に基づく補間処理により、前記第2の映像データ群に属する前記映像データ片の各々に対応した前記階調電圧を得ることを特徴とする表示パネル駆動方法。
