Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a friction stir welding method, and is particularly referred to as a difficult-to-join material in friction stir welding, an aluminum alloy casting, a 2000 series aluminum alloy material, a 4000 series aluminum alloy material, a 5000 series aluminum alloy material, Alternatively, the present invention relates to a method of advantageously performing friction stir welding using a rotary tool of a type in which friction stir welding is performed while pinching a 7000 series aluminum alloy material with two shoulder members such as a bobbin tool and a self-reacting tool. .
In recent years, a rotating tool (specifically, a probe or a pin) is inserted into a part to be joined between two members while rotating, and the materials to be joined are made to flow by stirring using frictional heat. Since the friction stir welding method (FSW) in which solid phase bonding is performed without melting is proposed in Japanese Patent Publication No. 7-505090, etc., heat generation at the joint is less than that of a normal fusion welding method. Strain is unlikely to occur, and it is not accompanied by a phase change peculiar to the fusion welding technique of melting and solidifying, and it can be joined in a solid state. In the joining of aluminum materials, the field in which such friction stir welding method is adopted has been expanding year by year. For example, by using such a friction stir welding method for joining transportation vehicle structures such as automobiles and railway vehicles, and joining IT equipment casings, etc., the use of aluminum materials that are lightweight front runners can be expanded. A great contribution has been made.
By the way, the rotary tool used in the above-described friction stir welding method generally employs a structure in which a protrusion having a predetermined length called a probe is disposed at the center of the tip of a cylindrical shoulder member. In this method, the shoulder member of the rotary tool is rotated about its axis, the tip of the probe is inserted into the joint site, and the pressure is applied to the shoulder surface of the shoulder member, and then the wire joint or the point joint is used. Is adopted, and the technique is also clarified in the above Japanese National Publication No. 7-505090. However, in the friction stir welding method using the rotary tool having such a structure, a backing such as a surface plate is disposed on the back side of the joining portion into which the probe of the rotary tool is inserted, and the pressing force of the rotary tool is set. However, there is a problem in that the joining operation needs to proceed while receiving, otherwise the materials to be joined are deformed by the pressure of the rotary tool and cannot be joined. Therefore, it has been difficult to employ such a friction stir welding method for joining hollow members that are difficult to dispose the backing.
For this reason, as a tool which does not require such a backing, the second shoulder member facing the shoulder member (first) is also provided at the tip of the probe protruding from the cylindrical shoulder member (first). A rotating tool is proposed in which the friction stir welding is advanced so that pressure is applied to both the front and back surfaces of the joined portion of the joined member at the same time by the two shoulder members. Has reached the point. For example, in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2003-154471, a friction stir welding method using a so-called bobbin tool, which is a tool having a structure in which two shoulder members are fixedly connected by a probe, is clarified. In JP-A-2003-181654, JP-A-2009-18312, etc., any one of two shoulder members is provided so as to be movable in the axial direction with respect to the probe, and the two shoulder members are provided. A so-called self-reacting tool has been proposed that can change the interval between them. And by using this kind of rotary tool, it became possible to join a hollow material etc. without backing, and the application range of the friction stir welding method has further expanded. .
By the way, among the aluminum materials used as members to be joined, all of them are difficult to friction stir metal, aluminum alloy castings, and JIS standard aluminum alloy names, 2000 series, 4000 series, 5000 series, respectively. And 7000 series aluminum alloy materials are considered to be difficult-to-join materials in which friction stir welding is not easy because the fluidity of metal due to friction stir action is not sufficient. For this purpose, when such an aluminum material is friction stir welded using a rotary tool having two shoulder members such as the above-described bobbin tool or self-reacting tool, the aluminum material rotates in the direction of the joining. Due to insufficient metal wrapping around the back side of the tool, holes that are not filled with metal are formed in joints (joint parts) formed by such joining operations, unjoined parts or incomplete joints. In addition to the occurrence of defects such as sites and the inability to form a sound joint, there was a problem in that the occurrence of burrs was significant and the appearance of the joint deteriorated.
Here, the present invention has been made in the background of such circumstances, and the problem to be solved is an aluminum alloy casting, a 2000 series aluminum alloy material, which is difficult to join during friction stir welding. Two materials of the same or different materials of 4000 series aluminum alloy material, 5000 series aluminum alloy material, and 7000 series aluminum alloy material are used, and they are friction stir welded using a rotary tool having two shoulder members. It is an object of the present invention to provide a technique capable of advantageously obtaining a bonded product having a sound bonded portion without bonding defects.
And in this invention, in order to solve such a subject, it consists of an aluminum alloy casting, 2000 series aluminum alloy material, 4000 series aluminum alloy material, 5000 series aluminum alloy material, and 7000 series aluminum alloy material. Two shoulder members arranged at predetermined intervals in the axial direction of the rod-shaped probe in the rotary tool, where the first member and the second member of the same or different materials selected from the group are joined. By moving the probe rotated together with the two shoulder members by the rotation of the rotary tool while clamping, the joint portion between the first member and the second member is frictionally stirred. When joining, a 1000 series aluminum alloy on the end face on the joining start end side in the joining portion of the first and second members, A starting tab member made of a 000 series aluminum alloy, a 6000 series aluminum alloy, or an 8000 series aluminum alloy is brought into contact, and the probe of the rotary tool is brought into contact with the joining portion of the first and second members through the starting tab material. The gist of the friction stir welding method is characterized in that it enters.
According to one desirable aspect of the friction stir welding method according to the present invention, the start tab material is four times the diameter of the shoulder member in the joining direction of the first and second members by the rotary tool. The plate member has the above length and has a width that is at least twice the diameter of the shoulder member in a direction perpendicular to the joining direction.
According to another preferred embodiment of the friction stir welding method according to the present invention, the diameter of the probe of the rotary tool is set to be twice or more the thickness of the start tab material.
Furthermore, the friction stir welding method according to the present invention is performed, for example, by abutting the first member and the second member and performing the abutting on the first member and the second member. And are carried out on the superposed site.
Furthermore, as a rotary tool suitably used in the present invention, there is generally a bobbin tool in which the two shoulder members are fixedly attached to the probe at a predetermined interval, or the probe On the other hand, there is a self-reacting tool in which one of the two shoulder members is fixed and the other is movable in the axial direction of the probe so that the distance between the two shoulder members can be changed.
In the present invention, advantageously, the 1000 series aluminum alloy, 3000 series aluminum alloy, 6000 with respect to the end face on the joining end end side at the joining portion of the first member and the second member. An end tab member made of a base aluminum alloy or an 8000 base aluminum alloy is brought into contact, and the probe of the rotary tool is guided to the end tab member from the joining portion of the first and second members, and the friction stirrer A configuration that allows the joining to be completed is additionally employed.
In the configuration additionally employed in the present invention, the end tab member has a length that is at least four times the diameter of the shoulder member in the joining direction of the first and second members in the rotary tool. It is desirable that the plate member has a width and has a width of at least twice the diameter of the shoulder member in a direction perpendicular to the joining direction.
Also, such a termination tab material is advantageously less than half the diameter of the probe in the rotary tool.
As described above, in the present invention, when a rotary aluminum machine equipped with two shoulder members is used to frictionally stir weld a predetermined aluminum material joint site that is not easily friction stir welded, A start tab material made of JIS standard 1000 series aluminum alloy, 3000 series aluminum alloy, 6000 series aluminum alloy, or 8000 series aluminum alloy is brought into contact with the end face on the joining start end side, which is easy to stir the metal, The probe of the rotary tool is moved through the start tab material so as to enter the joining portion, so that the relative rotation of the rotary tool is increased at the start tab material portion as the friction stir welding starts. Metal flow to the rear side of the rotary tool with respect to the general direction of travel is easily achieved and after such a rotary tool In the state under which wraparound metal to the side it is effectively carried out, to be joined sites in a given aluminum material which is not easy FSW, the rotary tool is moved.
Further, even in a portion to be joined of a predetermined aluminum material that is not easy to be friction stir welded, the friction stir is continued with the probe of such a rotary tool, so that the relative traveling direction of the rotary tool is increased. The metal also effectively wraps around the rear side, so that a void due to insufficient filling of the metal is not formed in the joint portion (joint portion) formed on the rear side of the rotary tool. In addition, the friction stir welding operation can be effectively advanced without causing bonding defects such as unbonded sites and incompletely bonded sites. As a result, it has become possible to advantageously obtain a bonded product having a sound bonded portion in which the occurrence of holes and bonding defects is avoided, and such metal agitation is not easy. By effectively improving the fluidity of the metal at the joining portion of the aluminum material, the problem that excess metal is pushed out to the surface of the joining portion as a burr can be advantageously solved.
Hereinafter, in order to clarify the present invention more specifically, the configuration of the friction stir welding method according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
First, FIG. 1 shows one form on the welding start end side when the friction stir welding method according to the present invention is carried out. In this case, the
In this case, the first and
And in order to carry out friction stir welding of the butt | matching
By the way, using such a bobbin
Therefore, in the present invention, in such friction stir welding, as shown in FIG. 1, friction stir welding is performed in order to eliminate joint defects at the joint start end portion and to suppress the occurrence of significant burrs in the joint. A material made of a specific aluminum alloy material in which the metal easily flows is used as the
Here, as the
FIG. 2 shows a form in which the
Then, the
Note that the
Here, the
By the way, in the friction stir welding of the butting
That is, as the
In short, as shown in FIG. 4, the
In addition, although the dimension of this completion |
By the way, as the
It should be noted that the gap between the two
Further, in the above-described embodiment, the friction stir welding operation is performed on the
Further, in the embodiment shown in FIG. 6, the start tab material 24 is brought into contact with the side surface in the width direction of the overlapping
In addition, by performing friction stir welding as described above, it is possible to obtain a bonded product having excellent soundness of the friction stir welded
And by eliminating the joining defect in the joining product obtained by such a friction stir welding method, the present invention is a technique for joining a wrought material such as a plate material or an extruded material or a casting to manufacture a large material. The joined product thus obtained can be advantageously used as a structural member such as a railway vehicle structure or an automobile subframe, and exhibits its characteristics. To do.
Examples of the present invention will be shown below to clarify the present invention more specifically. However, the present invention is not limited by the description of such examples. Needless to say. In addition to the following examples, the present invention includes various changes, modifications, and modifications based on the knowledge of those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit of the present invention other than the specific configuration described above. It should be understood that improvements and the like can be added.

I was damned. Also, at the end of the butted portion (6) of the two butted members (2, 4) on the joining start end side, as shown in Tables 1 and 2 below, the plate thickness (Ts), the length in the joining direction A plate-like start tab member (20) made of various aluminum materials having a thickness (Ls) and a width (Ws) in a direction perpendicular to the joining direction is butted as shown in FIG. , 4) and fixed and held on the table.
On the other hand, as the rotating jig (10), the diameter (D) of the two shoulder members (12, 14) shown in Tables 1 and 2 below, and the probe (16) between the two shoulder surfaces (12a, 14a). Using a bobbin tool as shown in FIG. 5 (a) with the length of the probe and the diameter (d) of the probe (16), under the conditions of rotational speed and joining speed shown in Tables 1 and 2 below. As shown in FIG. 2, the end of the starting tab member (20) is pushed between the two shoulder surfaces (12a, 14a) of the bobbin tool (10), and the bobbin tool (10) is moved toward the abutting part (6). By moving, the starting tab member (20) is passed through the lengthwise direction while being frictionally stirred, and then entered into the abutting portion (6) of the two members (2, 4). Further, the abutting portion (6 ) Move the bobbin tool (10) in the extending direction. By was performed FSW of the butted portion (6).
For each friction stir welded product in the combination of various aluminum materials of the first and second members (2, 4) and the starting tab material (20) thus obtained, respectively, a tensile shear test was performed, The joint strength was examined. Specifically, the fracture material and the fracture position were examined, and the joint efficiency was determined based on the material having the smaller fracture strength. The results are shown in Table 1 and Table 2 below.
As is apparent from the results of Tables 1 and 2, as in FSW Test Examples 1 to 11, aluminum alloy castings, 2000 series aluminum alloy materials, 4000 series aluminum alloy materials, 5000 series aluminum alloy materials, and 7000 series aluminum alloys. Starting when friction stir welding is performed with the bobbin tool (10) on the butted portion (6) of the first member (2) and the second member (4) of the same or different materials selected from the group consisting of materials As the tab material (20), a plate material made of 1000 series aluminum alloy, 3000 series aluminum alloy, 6000 series aluminum alloy or 8000 series aluminum alloy is brought into contact, and the probe (16) of the bobbin tool (10) is passed through this starting tab material. ) Enters the butting part (6) of the two members (2, 4), so that there is no bonding defect. , Also it is possible to obtain a less healthy joints burr generation it was found possible.
On the other hand, as in FSW Test Examples 12 to 22, when the start tab material (20) is not used or even when it is used, the same kind of aluminum plate material as the two members (2, 4) is started. In the case of the tab material, the friction stir welding of the two members (2, 4) itself cannot be performed, or a defective portion such as a gap or a fractured portion is generated at the joining portion, and further, burrs are generated. It has become clear that problems such as remarkably occurring cannot be obtained and a sound joint cannot be obtained.
-Example 2-
Thickness (t): 4.0 mm, plate width: 300 mm, length: 5000 mm, material: 5454-O, using two aluminum rolled sheets as the first and second members (2, 4), Were fixed in the width direction and fixed and held on a table provided with a gap so as to be positioned below the butting portion (6). And with respect to the end part of the joining start end side in the butting part (6) of these two plate materials (2, 4), various joining direction lengths (Ls) shown in the following Table 3 are perpendicular thereto. Thickness (Ts) having width direction length (Ws) in direction: 4.0 mm, aluminum material: Start tab material (20) made of 1200 is abutted and similar to two plates (2, 4) , Fixed and held respectively.
Next, as an example of a rotating jig, except that the axial length of the probe (16), which is the distance between the upper shoulder surface (12a) and the lower shoulder surface (14a), was changed to 3.7 mm. The same friction stir welding operation as in Example 1 was performed using a bobbin tool (10) having the same dimensions as 1, and the results are also shown in Table 3 below.
As apparent from the results in Table 3, the length (Ls) in the joining direction of the start tab member (20) is four times or more the diameter (D) of the shoulder member (12, 14) in the bobbin tool (10). In addition, by making the width (Ws) in the direction perpendicular to the joining direction to be twice or more the diameter (D) of the shoulder member (12, 14), the soundness of the friction stir welding part (8) can be improved. It can be advantageously increased.
-Example 3-
While starting the friction stir welding operation in the same manner as the FSW test examples 1 to 20 in Example 1, on the end surface on the joining end end side in the butt portion (6) of the two plate members (2, 4), As shown in Tables 4 to 5 below, plate-like end tab members (22) of various aluminum materials having a length (Le) in the joining direction, a width (We) in a direction perpendicular to the joining direction, and a thickness (Te) are shown. The bobbin tool (10) that has been brought into contact and moved over the entire length of the abutting portion (6) is guided to the end tab member (22) from the end of the abutting portion (6), as shown in FIG. Next, after the end tab material (22) was guided in the joining direction, the friction stir welding was finished. Then, while observing the degree of metal adhesion on the bobbin tool (10) at the end of such friction stir welding, the bobbin tool (10) after completion of such friction stir welding operation is used as it is, and the same is repeated. The friction stir welding operation was performed, the success rate of the second friction stir welding operation was determined, and the results are also shown in Table 3 below. In evaluating the degree of metal adhesion, the following criteria were adopted: ○: almost no metal adhesion was observed, Δ: metal adhesion was observed, and X: metal adhesion was remarkable.
As is apparent from the results of Tables 4 and 5, as in FSW Test Examples 31 to 41, the material of the finished tab material (22) is 1000 series aluminum alloy, 3000 series aluminum alloy, 6000 series aluminum alloy, or 8000 series. By using the aluminum alloy, metal adhesion to the bobbin tool (10) can be effectively suppressed or prevented, so that the bobbin tool (10) after the friction stir welding operation has been completed. It was confirmed that the following two members (2, 4) can be used for the friction stir welding operation.
Example 4
In the friction stir welding operation according to FSW Test Example 31 in Example 3, the thickness (t) of the first and second members (2, 4) and the thickness (Ts) of the start tab material (20) are changed. Example 3 except that the dimensions of the joining tab length (22) in the joining direction length (Le) and the width (We) in the direction perpendicular thereto were changed as shown in Table 6 below. Similarly, the friction stir operation was performed, and after the bobbin tool (10) passed through the end tab material (22), the friction stir welding operation was completed. And the metal adhesion state of the bobbin tool (10) after such friction stir welding operation was completed was observed and evaluated in the same manner as in Example 3. The results are also shown in Table 6 below.
As apparent from the results in Table 6, the length (Le) in the joining direction of the end tab member (22) is four times or more the diameter (D) of the shoulder member (12, 14) in the bobbin tool (10). In addition, the width (We) in the direction perpendicular to the joining direction is at least twice the diameter (D) of the shoulder member (12, 14), so that the metal adheres to the bobbin tool (10). However, it is recognized that it can be effectively suppressed or prevented.
