スプレッドシートサーバー２４０は、Ｗｅｂアプリケーション２４２を含み、Ｗｅｂアプリケーション２４２は、スプレッドシートＷｅｂレンダラ―２４４を有する。実施の形態によれば、スプレッドシートサーバー２４０は、スプレッドシートの表示及び取扱いに関連するサービスを提供するために構成されているオンラインサービス内に配置されたサーバーとして構成されている。Ｗｅｂアプリケーション２４２は、スプレッドシートドキュメントに関連するリクエストに対して、受信及び応答するよう構成されている。例えば、スプレッドシートサーバー２４０は、ネットワーク共有２３０に保存されたスプレッドシート２１４又はスプレッドシートオブジェクト２３２にアクセスし得る。Ｗｅｂアプリケーション２４２は、コンピューティングデバイス２等のコンピューティングデバイスのユーザーに、ネットワーク１８を介してアクセス可能なスプレッドシートを取り扱うためのインターフェースを提供する機能を持つ。Ｗｅｂアプリケーション２４２は、ネットワーク共有２３０に保存されたスプレッドシート２１４等のスプレッドシートを取得及び計算するために使用されるスプレッドシート計算サーバーと通信し得る。
スプレッドシートサーバー２４０は、ネットワークサービス２５０及び／又はコンピューティングデバイス２等のコンピューティングデバイスからリクエストを受信する。コンピューティングデバイス２又はネットワークサービス２５０は、リクエストをスプレッドシートサーバー２４０に送信し、共有されたスプレッドシートオブジェクト２３２をコンピューティングデバイス２上のＷｅｂブラウザー２２２等のＷｅｂブラウザーアプリケーションのコンテキスト内で閲覧させてもよい。そのようなリクエストに応答して、Ｗｅｂアプリケーション２４２は、そのユーザーがスプレッドシートオブジェクトにアクセス許可があるかに基づき、スプレッドシートオブジェクトをネットワーク共有２３０から取得する。（選択されたオブジェクト群に基づき）表示されるスプレッドシートの部分は、ＩＳＯ／ＩＥＣ ２９５００形式等の、マークアップ言語の形式に変換される。スプレッドシートは、スプレッドシートサーバー２４０又は一つ以上のその他のコンピューティングデバイスによって変換される。Ｗｅｂアプリケーション２４２がマークアップ言語表現のスプレッドシートを受信すると、スプレッドシートサーバーは、スプレッドシートＷｅｂレンダラ―２４４を利用して、マークアップ言語の形式のスプレッドシートを、コンピューティングデバイス２上のＷｅｂブラウザー２２２等の、Ｗｅｂブラウザーアプリケーションによってレンダリングされ得るスプレッドシートの表現に変換する。レンダリングされたスプレッドシートオブジェクトは、コンピューティングデバイス１上の同じスプレッドシートオブジェクトの閲覧の時に利用されるスプレッドシートアプリケーション２１２の出力と、実質的に類似した形態で表示される。スプレッドシートＷｅｂレンダラ―２４４がファイルのレンダリングを完了すると、スプレッドシートサーバー２４０から、コンピューティングデバイス２等の要求元のコンピューティングデバイスに戻され、Ｗｅｂブラウザー２２２によってレンダリングされ得る。
スプレッドシートＷｅｂレンダラ―２４４は同様に、マークアップ言語ファイルに一つ以上のスクリプトをレンダー（埋め込み）するよう構成されており、コンピューティングデバイス２等のコンピューティングデバイスのユーザーが、Ｗｅｂブラウザー２２のコンテキスト内で、スプレッドシートオブジェクトを取扱うことができる。スプレッドシートＷｅｂレンダラ―２４４は、返されるＷｅｂページに、Ｗｅｂブラウザーアプリケーション２２２によって実行され得るスクリプトコードをレンダー（埋め込み）する機能を有する。スクリプトは、例えば、ユーザーがスプレッドシートオブジェクトのビューを変更し、及び／又はスプレッドシートオブジェクトに関する値を変更することができる機能を提供し得る。ある種のユーザー入力に応答して、スクリプトは実行され得る。スクリプトが実行されるときに、対象とされたスプレッドシート内のスプレッドシートオブジェクトを特定して、レスポンスがスプレッドシートサーバー２４０に転送されることにより、指定されたインタラクションのタイプを特定し、及び、Ｗｅｂアプリケーション２４２に対して適切なスプレッドシートオブジェクトに対して実行されるべき機能のさらなる特定をしてもよい。
ネットワークサービス２５０で共有されるスプレッドシートオブジェクトに関連づけられたアクセス許可を用いて、共有されたオブジェクトの閲覧／取扱いをユーザーに許可／制限する。例えば、アクセス許可は、スプレッドシートの閲覧及び取扱い可能なユーザー、及び、スプレッドシートオブジェクトの閲覧のみ可能な他のユーザーグループのリストを指定してもよい。ユーザーのリストは、スプレッドシートオブジェクトが共有されているネットワークサービスからの情報を利用して決められてもよい。例えば、ソーシャルネットワークサイトにおける、ユーザーの友達のグループはいつも、特定されて除外されない限り、共有されたスプレッドシートオブジェクトの閲覧／取扱いが許可される。権限のあるユーザーを決定するために、その他のリストがサーチされてもよい（例えば、連絡先リスト、インスタントメッセージングリスト、ｅ−ｍａｉｌの最近の宛先、お気に入りリスト等）。代替的に、ユーザーは、ユーザーインターフェース２１６を使用して、共有されたスプレッドシートオブジェクトについてのアクセス許可及び閲覧／取扱い可能なユーザーを指定／選択してもよい。実施の形態によれば、ネットワークサービスが共有オブジェクトに対して、適用されるアクセス許可を指定する。アクセス許可はネットワーク共有２３０及び／又はその他の場所（例えば、スプレッドシートサーバー２４０又はネットワークサービス２５０）に保存され得る。共有されたオブジェクトに対するユーザーの閲覧／取扱い権限を制限することに加え、アクセス許可はまた、ネットワーク共有２３０におけるスプレッドシートのその他の部分に対するアクセスがネットワークサービスに対して提供されることを制限し得る。例えば、スプレッドシート全体が、ネットワーク共有２３０に保存され、そして、共有されたスプレッドシートオブジェクトにおいてスプレッドシートサーバー２４０が操作を実行するために使用される一方で、共有されたスプレッドシートオブジェクトのみが、ネットワークサービス２５０を通じて、閲覧／取扱い可能である。
図３は、共有され得る種々のスプレッドシートオブジェクトを含むスプレッドシートを示す。例示されているように、スプレッドシート３００は、種々のユーザーインターフェース、メニュー、並びにセル３０１、行３０２、列３０３、テーブル３０４、数式３０５及びリスト３０６を含むスプレッドシートオブジェクトを表示する。それぞれの種類の一つのオブジェクトしか表示されていないが、スプレッドシート３００は、より多く又はより少ないオブジェクトを有していてもよい。選択され共有され得る他のタイプのオブジェクトが、スプレッドシート３００内に含まれてもよい。
スプレッドシート３００は、行及び列を有するグリッドを含む。列及び行は、現在選択されているワークブックのワークスペースを定義する。特定の行及び列の組で定義されたセル各々は、数値データ、又は、テキストデータで編集され、様々なセルにおいてコマンドを実行して、事実上無制限の種類の分析活動を実施することができる。
スプレッドシート３００はまた、現在選択されているスプレッドシート内又は現在選択されているワークブック内のその他のスプレッドシート内でナビゲーションするための、様々なユーザーインターフェース要素を含む。スプレッドシート３００はまた、メニュー３２０、メニュー３２２及びメニュー３２４等の、一つ以上のスプレッドシートオブジェクトを共有するために用いられる、例示のユーザーインターフェースを表示する。メニュー３２０は、メニューバー３３０内に含まれるメニューである。メニュー３２０が選択されるとき、様々な共有のオプションが選択されるように利用可能となる。共有のオプションは、様々なオプションで構成され、例えば、特定のネットワークサービスでの共有（例えば、“サイト１で共有）、一つ以上のスプレッドシートオブジェクトを共有するサイトの選択、アクセス許可オプション、そしてその他のオプションである。例えば、その他のオプションは、共有するスプレッドシートオブジェクトの選択オプションを含んでいてもよい。ユーザーが共有オプションを選択するとき、選択されたスプレッドシートオブジェクトは、自動的に選択されたネットワークサービスで共有される。コンテキストメニューを利用して、共有オプションを受け取ることができる。例えば、ユーザーが、テーブル３０４上で右クリックすると、コンテキストメニュー３２２が表示される。ユーザーは次に、テーブル３０４が選択されたネットワークサービスで共有されるように共有オプションを選択してもよい。Ｗｅｂページ３８０は、ネットワークサービスのＷｅｂページ内に表示されるテーブル３０４を表示する。ユーザーは、ネットワークサービスを通じて、テーブル３０４を閲覧／取扱いし、そして、スプレッドシートにされたいかなる変更であってテーブル３０４に影響するものは、共有されたテーブル３０４においても反映される。このように、オブジェクトの共有プロセスは、ユーザーにとって単一のメニューオプションを選択するかのように簡潔である。共有オプションを、他の方法で提示させてもよい。例えば、メニューバー３２４は、ユーザーが共有オプションを選択し得るグラフィティカルなアイコン（例えば、共有３２６、アクセス許可３２８）を表示してもよい。ショートカット（例えば、キー又はキーの組み合わせ）を提供して、共有メニュー／オプションを選択してもよい。
図４には、スプレッドシート中のスプレッドシートオブジェクトを共有する例示のプロセスが開示される。ここで提示されているルーチンの説明を読めば、様々な実施の形態の論理的なオペレーションは、（１）コンピューターに実装された一連の処理又はコンピューターシステム上で実行されるプログラムモジュール、及び／又は（２）コンピューターシステム内の相互接続された機械論理回路又は回路モジュール、として実施されることが理解されるであろう。実装は、発明を実施するコンピューターシステムのパフォーマンス要件に依存した選択の余地の問題である。従って、例示され、ここで開示された実施の形態を構成する論理的なオペレーションは、オペレーション、構造的なデバイス、処理又はモジュールとして多様に参照される。これらのオペレーション、構造的なデバイス、処理及びモジュールは、ソフトウェア、ファームウェア、特殊目的デジタル論理、及びこれらのいかなる組み合わせで実装され得る。
スタートブロックから、プロセス４００は、ブロック４１０に移行し、共有のためにスプレッドシートオブジェクトをスプレッドシートから選択する。１つ以上のスプレッドシートオブジェクト／セルを選択し、共有してもよい。例えば、テーブル及び図表、１つのセル、２つのテーブル等を選択してもよい。
ブロック４２０に移行すると、共有のためのユーザーインターフェースが表示される。ユーザーインターフェースは、ブロック４１０の前、又はスプレッドシートオブジェクトが選択された後、及び／又は共有手順中のその他の時に、表示されてもよい。異なるタイプのユーザーインターフェースがスプレッドシートオブジェクトの共有／選択に用いられるかもしれず、限定ではないが、例えば、コンテキストメニュー、メニューバー中のメニュー、アイコンベースのメニュー、スタンドアロンメニュー、ショートカットキー、その他同種類のものが共有のために用いられてもよい。例えば、ユーザーは、スプレッドシート中のスプレッドシートオブジェクトを選択し、右クリックして、スプレッドシートオブジェクトを共有するための一つ以上のオプションを提示するコンテキストメニューを表示させてもよい。
ブロック４３０に移行すると、選択された共有するスプレッドシートオブジェクトを自動的にネットワーク共有に保存する。例えば、ローカルコンピューティングデバイス上のスプレッドシート／スプレッドシートオブジェクトは、ネットワーク共有に保存されてもよい。実施の形態によれば、スプレッドシートオブジェクトを含むスプレッドシート全体がネットワーク共有に保存される。ネットワーク共有は、オブジェクトを共有するために選択されたネットワークサービス及び／又はその他のオンラインサービスに関連づけられていてもよい。例えば、ネットワーク共有は、オンラインスプレッドシートサービスに関連づけられていてもよい。
ブロック４４０に移行して、ネットワーク共有と、スプレッドシートオブジェクトを共有するコンピューティングデバイス上のスプレッドシートオブジェクトと、ネットワークサービスとの間の接続が生成される。その接続を利用して、共有されたスプレッドシートオブジェクトに影響を与える、スプレッドシートに対してなされた変更が、確実に共有されたオブジェクトに反映されるようにする。例えば、最初にオブジェクトを共有したコンピューティングデバイスのユーザーが、共有されたオブジェクトを更新したとすると、ネットワークサービスにおける共有されたオブジェクトのユーザービューイングに更新を反映させてもよい。同様に、ユーザーが、ネットワークサービス上で共有されたスプレッドシートオブジェクトを取扱う時は、スプレッドシートオブジェクトを共有したユーザーのコンピューター上の、オリジナルのスプレッドシートに変更を反映させてもよい。
ブロック４５０に移行すると、アクセス許可がスプレッドシートに設定される。共有されたスプレッドシートオブジェクトに割り当てられたアクセス許可は、スプレッドシート及び共有されたスプレッドシートオブジェクトの閲覧／取扱いをユーザーに対して許可／制限することに用いられる。いくつか／全てのアクセス許可を、手動又は自動的に設定させてもよい。例えば、ネットワークサービス上で共有されたスプレッドシートオブジェクトのみが閲覧可能といったように、共有されたスプレッドシートオブジェクトの閲覧のみに制限するアクセス許可は自動的に設定させてもよい。このように、ネットワークサービスを通じて、スプレッドシートオブジェクトを取扱い／閲覧するユーザーは、共有されていないスプレッドシートの部分にアクセスすることができない。スプレッドシートの閲覧をユーザーに制限するアクセス許可は、手動で設定させてもよい。例えば、ユーザーは、スプレッドシートオブジェクトの閲覧／取扱いを許可するユーザーのグループを入力／選択してもよい。アクセス許可は、スプレッドシートオブジェクトを共有のために選択した時に設定させてもよいし、及び／又は、それ以外の時に設定させてもよい。例えば、ユーザーは、ネットワークサービス上でアクセス許可を設定し、そして、ネットワークサービスがアクセス許可を、アクセス許可を実施するサービス（すなわち、スプレッドシートサーバー）に送信してもよい。
ブロック４６０に移行すると、スプレッドシートオブジェクトがネットワークサービスで共有される。共有は種々の方法で行われてもよい。例えば、ネットワークサービスにリンクを提供し、ネットワークサービスのページ上にマークアップ言語のレンダリングを埋め込み、スプレッドシート／スプレッドシートオブジェクトをネットワークサービスに提供する等であってもよい。
ブロック４７０に移行して、スプレッドシートオブジェクトが共有される対象のユーザーは、共有の通知を受けてもよい。通知は、一つ以上の通知方法を使用して行われ得る。例えば、ソーシャルネットワークサービスが共有通知メッセージを送ったり、スプレッドシートアプリケーションがユーザーにメッセージを送ったり、その他同種類のものでも良い。
ブロック４８０に移行して、スプレッドシートオブジェクトをネットワークサービスを通じて表示する。実施の形態によれば、共有されたスプレッドシートオブジェクトのみを表示させ、他の部分のスプレッドシートは、ネットワークサービスのユーザー群に表示させない。スプレッドシートオブジェクトに対する更新は、ネットワークサービス及び／又はその他のコンピューティングデバイスを通じて行われてもよい。処理は、エンドブロックに移行し、その他の処理の実行に戻される。
上記に説明された事項、例示及びデータは、製造及び発明の構成の実施についての完全な説明を提供する。発明の精神及び範囲に逸脱しない限り、様々な発明の実施の形態が想定されることから、発明は添付された特許請求の範囲内にある。

Claims (10)

  1. スプレッドシートに含まれるスプレッドシートオブジェクトをネットワークサービスで共有する方法であって、
    前記スプレッドシート中の前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトを、前記ネットワークサービス上での共有のために選択することであって、前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトは第１のコンピューティングデバイスで選択されることと、
    前記第１のコンピューティングデバイスからネットワーク共有に、前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトを自動的に保存することであって、前記ネットワーク共有は前記第１のコンピューティングデバイス及び前記ネットワークサービスとは異なる場所にあることと、
    前記ネットワークサービスから前記ネットワーク共有に、前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトに対する接続を生成することと、
    前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトを前記ネットワークサービスで共有することであって、選択された前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトは、前記ネットワークサービスを介して、取扱いされ、及び、閲覧され得ること、
    を含むことを特徴とする方法。
  2. 請求項１の方法であって、
    前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトが前記ネットワークサービスで共有された後に、前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトに影響する前記スプレッドシートに対する変更がされたことを判別し、前記ネットワークサービス上の前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトを自動的に更新すること、
    をさらに含むことを特徴とする方法。
  3. 請求項１の方法であって、
    前記ネットワークサービスは、ソーシャルネットワーク、ブログ及びインターネットサイト、のうちの少なくとも一つであること、
    を含むことを特徴とする方法。
  4. 請求項１の方法であって、
    前記スプレッドシート中の前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトを、前記ネットワークサービス上での共有のために選択することは、選択されると自動的に前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトを前記ネットワークサービスに共有する共有オプションを有するユーザーインターフェースを表示すること、
    を含むことを特徴とする方法。
  5. 請求項１の方法であって、
    前記ネットワークサービス上の前記スプレッドシートの中の選択された前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトのみの閲覧に制限するようアクセス許可を設定すること、
    をさらに含むことを特徴とする方法。
  6. 請求項１の方法であって、
    前記ネットワークサービスに前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトを共有することは、
    共有された前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトへのリンクを埋め込むこと、
    前記ネットワークサービスのページ中に、共有された前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトの表示を埋め込むこと、
    の少なくとも一つを含むことを特徴とする方法。
  7. コンピューターが実行可能な、スプレッドシートに含まれるスプレッドシートオブジェクトをネットワークサービスで共有するための処理命令を記録したコンピューター可読記録媒体であって、
    前記スプレッドシート中の前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトを、前記ネットワークサービス上での共有のために選択し、
    選択されると自動的に前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトを前記ネットワークサービスに共有する共有オプションを有するユーザーインターフェースを表示し、
    前記第１のコンピューティングデバイスからネットワーク共有に、前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトを自動的に保存し、前記ネットワーク共有は前記第１のコンピューティングデバイス及び前記ネットワークサービスとは異なる場所にあり、
    前記ネットワークサービスから前記ネットワーク共有に、前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトに対する接続を生成し、
    前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトを前記ネットワークサービスで共有し、選択された前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトは、前記ネットワークサービスを介して、取扱いされ、及び、閲覧され、
    前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトが前記ネットワークサービスで共有された後に、前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトに影響する前記スプレッドシートに対する変更がされたことを判別し、前記ネットワークサービスの前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトを自動的に更新すること、
    を含むことを特徴とするコンピューター可読記録媒体。
  8. 請求項７のコンピューター可読記録媒体であって、さらに、
    前記ネットワークサービス上の前記スプレッドシートの中の選択された前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトのみの閲覧に制限するようアクセス許可を自動的に設定し、前記ネットワークサービスに前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトを共有することは、共有された前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトのリンクを埋め込むこと、前記ネットワークサービスのページ中に、共有された前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトの表示を埋め込むこと、
    の少なくとも一つを含むことを特徴とするコンピューター可読記録媒体。
  9. スプレッドシート中に含まれるスプレッドシートオブジェクトをネットワークサービスに共有するためのシステムであって、
    ネットワークに接続するように構成されたネットワーク接続と、
    プロセッサー、メモリ、及びコンピューター可読記録媒体と、
    前記コンピューター可読記録媒体に保存され、プロセッサーで実行されるオペレーティング環境と、
    スプレッドシートアプリケーションと、
    前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトを含む前記スプレッドシートと、
    前記スプレッドシートアプリケーションと協働して動作する共有マネジャーであって、
    前記ネットワークサービス上で共有するために前記スプレッドシート中の前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトを選択し、前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトは第１のコンピューティングデバイスで選択されたものであり、前記ネットワークサービスは、ブログ、ソーシャルネットワーク、インターネットサイトのうちの少なくとも一つであり、
    選択されると自動的に選択された前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトを前記ネットワークサービスに共有する共有オプションを有するユーザーインターフェースを表示し、
    前記第１のコンピューティングデバイスからネットワーク共有に、前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトを自動的に保存し、前記ネットワーク共有は前記第１のコンピューティングデバイス及び前記ネットワークサービスとは異なる場所にあり、
    前記ネットワークサービスから前記ネットワーク共有に、前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトに対する接続を生成し、
    前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトを前記ネットワークサービスで共有し、選択された前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトは、前記ネットワークサービスを介して、取扱いされ、及び、閲覧され得る、
    処理を行うように構成された前記共有マネジャー
    を含むことを特徴とするシステム。
  10. 請求項９のシステムであって、
    前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトが前記ネットワークサービスで共有された後に、前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトに影響する前記スプレッドシートに対する変更がされたことを判別し、前記ネットワークサービス上の前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトを自動的に更新し、
    前記ネットワークサービス上の前記スプレッドシートの中の選択された前記スプレッドシートオブジェクトのみの閲覧に制限するようアクセス許可の一部を自動的に設定すること、及び、前記ネットワークサービス上の共有された前記スプレッドシートの取扱いを許可された選別されたユーザー情報を得ること、
    をさらに含むことを特徴とするシステム。
