Description
本出願は、"DIAPER WITH CSA ANTIMICROBIALACTIVE SITES"と題する2010年11月3日出願の米国仮出願第61/456,204号の利益を主張し、参照によりその全体が本明細書に組み込まれる。
本発明は、吸収性ポリマーを組み込む製品にセラゲニン化合物を使用することに関する。
超吸収性ポリマーは、それ自身の重量に比して非常に大量の液体を吸収し、保持できるポリマーである。脱イオン及び蒸留水中で、超吸水性ポリマーは、その重量の500倍の(それ自身の容積の30〜60倍)を吸収し得る。水を吸収する超吸収性ポリマーの能力は、吸収する水溶液のイオン濃度に依存する。食塩水は、蒸留水ほど吸収されない。例えば、0.9%食塩水は、ポリマー重量の50倍程度、超吸収性ポリマーにより吸収される。
本明細書でカチオン性ステロイド系抗菌性化合物類(cationic steroidal antimicrobial compounds)(CSAs)とも呼ばれる、セラゲニン化合物類は、合成で生成され、その骨格に結合した、種々の荷電基(例えば、アミン及びカチオン性基)を有するステロール骨格を含む小分子化合物である。前記骨格を使用して、該ステロール骨格のうちの、一方の面、つまり、一平面上にアミンまたはグアニジン基を配向させ得る。例えば、骨格の、一面、つまり平面上に第一級アミノ基を有する化合物を示すスキームを、以下のスキームIに示す。
本発明の吸収性製品は、吸収性ポリマーと、一体化したセラゲニン化合物とを組み込む支持構造を含む。該支持構造体は、任意の数の層および/または層類の構成を有し得て、吸収性ポリマーが組み込まれる(すなわち、その上に堆積又は内部に統合され)支持構造を提供する。該セラゲニン化合物は、前記ポリマーによって吸収された水が該セラゲニン化合物と流体接触するという意味で、吸収性ポリマーと一体化される。
前記吸収性ポリマー中に組み込まれたセラゲニン化合物は、非共有結合的にポリマーと一体化し得る。水分と接触すると、該CSAは、ポリマーから浸出または溶出し得る。CSAsは、一般に水溶性であり、CSAsは、ポリマーと一体化され得て、放出速度を制御する。適切なポリマーおよびCSA構造を選択すれば、該CSAの長時間放出が可能になる。
セラゲニン化合物は、製造時の任意の適切な段階でおむつに組み込み得る。例えば、一実施形態では、前記超吸収性ポリマー、またはその毛羽パルプ、あるいはその両方を、浸漬、噴霧、印刷、コーティング等によってセラゲニン類の溶液と接触させ得る。その処理済みポリマー材料から、浸漬、蒸発、または遠心分離等により溶媒を分離する。選択的には、ポリマー材料及び吸収性材料は、その後、強制熱風、オーブン乾燥、室温空気、マイクロ波乾燥を利用するか、または加熱乾燥ドラム、真空チャンバー等を使用して、乾燥させる。幾つかの製造システムでは、別個の乾燥工程でなく、通常の空気流と温度で十分に該材料を乾燥させる。
不織布及びフィルムは、おむつなどの吸収性製品の種々の部分で使用される。図2を参照すると、おむつ10の内部層13は、通常、不織布又は有孔フィルムを有する。用語"吸収性布"は、液体を吸収することを意図する不織布又は有孔フィルムを含む。吸収性布にセラゲニンを適用するいくつかの方法があり、例えば、供給ロールから、吸収性布を適切な濃度のCSAを含むパッド浴中に、通過させ、ニップロールを介して、過剰な液体を除去し、乾燥機に入れ、該布を過剰水を除去するのに十分な温度で乾燥させることによるなどの様に、従来の方法で、セラゲニン化合物を吸収性布に組み込む。
別の実施形態では、セラゲニンは、吸収性ポリマー中に,その形成時組み込まれる。超吸収性ポリマーは、通常水酸化ナトリウムを混合したアクリル酸を開始剤の存在下で重合させ、ポリアクリル酸ナトリウム塩(しばしばナトリウムポリアクリレートともいう)を形成して製造し得る。また、超吸収性ポリマーは、他の物質を使用しても製造される、例えば、ポリアクリルアミド共重合体、エチレン無水マレイン酸共重合体、架橋カルボキシメチルセルロース、ポリビニルアルコール共重合体、架橋ポリエチレンオキシド、及び澱粉ポリアクリロニトリルグラフト共重合体等である。超吸収性ポリマーを形成用の代表的なプロセスは、懸濁重合及び溶液重合を含む。懸濁重合では、該水系反応体は、炭化水素系溶媒に懸濁させる。溶液プロセスでは、水性モノマー溶液を使用して反応物重合ゲルの塊を製造する。
上述したように、重合性基を有するCSAsはモノマー混合物に組み込むことによりポリマーに共有結合で結合し得る。セラゲニン類はまた、当該セラゲニン類の活性を保持しながら、固定化するか、または、永続的に材料表面に付加し得る。これは、セラゲニンを表面に直接結合するか、または、接着層、カップリング剤、またはテザー(tether)を用いて達成し得る。
例えば、ナイロン、ポリエステル、ポリエチレン、またはポリプロピレン等の不織材料は、当該プラスチック繊維を機械的、化学的、または、熱的に、熱融着し、交錯させて製造される。
一実施形態で、セラゲニン化合物は、ステロール基にカチオン性基を付加する加水分解性結合(例えば、エステル結合)を有し得る。これらの結合の加水分解でセラゲニンは不活性化する。 セラゲニンを安定にするには、酸を添加し得、pHを6、5.5、5、又は4.5未満にし、選択的に2、2,5、又は3を超え、またはその範囲を達成する。使用前の安定性は所望の貯蔵寿命を与えるのに重要であり、使用中およびその後の不安定性は、生物系にセラゲニン類が長期蓄積するのを防止するのに好ましくあり得る。
おむつは、図2及び図3に示されていて、おむつ10は3つの基本的な層を含む、即ち、(i)外側シェル14、(ii)吸収性パッド12、および(iii)内部層13である。前記おむつは、また、周辺領域15、前方領域23、股部22、及び後部21を含む。ファスナ11は、後部21上に配置されている。外側シェル14は、通常、フィルムおよび/または不織布を有する。外側シェル14の重要な機能は、液体と汚物とを前記おむつ内に保持することである。外側シェル14は、水の蒸気の蒸散を許す、つまり、通気性であり、おむつ内部に、より乾燥した環境を提供するのを助ける。
個人向けの吸収性製品の主な機能は、体液を吸収し、漏れを防止することである。体液を吸収する過程では、本製品が吸収した流体が微生物の温床又は繁殖用媒体にならないことが望まれる。さらに、暖かで湿った環境下では、着用者の皮膚上で微生物が増殖し得る。適切に吸収性製品内に配置されたCSAは、このような微生物の繁殖を制限し得る。
セラゲニン化合物は、式Iに示す構造を有する。
Claims (20)
- 吸収性製品であって、
支持構造体と、
互いに一体化され、且つ前記支持構造体上に支持された吸収性ポリマー及びセラゲニン化合物であって、前記セラゲニン化合物は、ステロール基とそれに付加した複数のカチオン性基とを含むものである、前記吸収性ポリマー及びセラゲニン化合物と
を有する、吸収性製品。 - 請求項1に記載の吸収性製品において、前記セラゲニン化合物は、非共有結合で前記吸収性ポリマーに付加されるものであり、これにより前記セラゲニン化合物は前記吸収性ポリマーと一体化されるが、微生物の存在下で前記ポリマーから放出されるものである、吸収性製品。
- 請求項1に記載の吸収性製品において、前記セラゲニン化合物及び吸収性ポリマーは、乾式混合された混合物である、吸収性製品。
- 請求項1に記載の吸収性製品において、前記CSAは前記吸収性材料と一体化されるものであり、これにより、水性環境に暴露される場合、当該CSAは抗菌効果を提供するのに十分な量で前記吸収性材料から溶出するものである、吸収性製品。
- 請求項1に記載の吸収性製品において、前記支持構造体は、少なくとも1つのシートの材料を含むものである、吸収性製品。
- 請求項5に記載の吸収性製品において、前記少なくとも1つのシートの材料は不織布を含み、前記セラゲニン化合物は当該不織布の表面内または表面上に存在するものである、吸収性製品。
- 請求項1に記載の吸収性製品において、前記吸収性材料は、セルロース繊維を有するものである、吸収性製品。
- 請求項1に記載の吸収性製品において、前記セラゲニン化合物は、前記ステロール基と前記カチオン性基の少なくとも一部との間に加水分解可能な結合を含むものであり、これにより前記セラゲニン化合物は、水中で加水分解によって分解され得るものである、吸収性製品。
- 請求項8に記載の吸収性製品において、前記セラゲニンは、CSA−32、CSA−33、CSA−34、CSA−35、CSA−41、CSA−42、CSA−43、CSA44、CSA−45、CSA−47、CSA−49、CSA−50、CSA−51、CSA−52、CSA−56、CSA−141、CSA−142、およびこれらの組み合わせから成る群から選択される、水で加水分解可能なセラゲニンである、吸収性製品。
- 請求項1に記載の吸収性製品であって、この吸収性製品は、さらに、
前記吸収性材料と共有結合または非共有結合で一体化される酸性材料を有するものである、吸収性製品。 - 請求項1に記載の吸収性製品において、前記吸収性材料は、カルボン酸基(R−COOH)とカルボン酸塩(R−COO−M+)とを有するポリアクリレート系超吸収性ポリマーを有し、カルボン酸基対カルボン酸塩のモル比は1:1より大きいものである、吸収性製品。
- 請求項1に記載の吸収性製品において、前記支持構造体と一体化したセラゲニン化合物の量は、前記製品の製品−接触体表面又はその近傍で少なくとも当該セラゲニン化合物の最小発育阻止濃度(MIC)を提供するのに十分なものである、吸収性製品。
- 請求項12に記載の吸収性製品において、前記セラゲニン化合物の種類及び濃度は、黄色ブドウ球菌MRSA型またはVRSA型の増殖を阻害するのに十分なMICを提供するように選択されるものである、吸収性製品。
- 請求項1に記載の吸収性製品において、前記CSAは前記吸収性製品の表面上に共有結合で結合されるものである、吸収性製品。
- 請求項1に記載の吸収性製品において、前記吸収性製品は、使い捨て幼児用おむつ、婦人用衛生製品、生理用ナプキン、パンティライナー、タンポン、成人失禁用製品、個人用拭き取り繊維、または家庭用拭き取り繊維である、吸収性製品。
- 請求項1に記載の吸収性製品において、前記製品はおむつであり、前記支持構造体は外側シェル、吸収性パッド、および内部層を含み、前記吸収性パッドは吸収性ポリマーを含み、前記内部層は前記吸収性パッドに向けて水分を逃がす材料を含むものである、吸収性製品。
- 請求項17に記載の吸収性製品において、前記セラゲニン化合物は、前記吸収性パッドに対向する前記内部層の上面、および/または吸収性パッドの内部または上部に配置されるものである、吸収性製品。
- 請求項1に記載の吸収性製品において、前記製品は包帯であり、前記支持構造体は、柔軟なストリップと、当該柔軟なストリップ上に配置された吸収性ポリマーとを有し、前記柔軟なストリップは、さらに、前記包帯を皮膚に付着させる接着剤を有するものである、吸収性製品。
- 食材及び請求項1に記載の吸収剤を有するパッケージ食品。
- 請求項19に記載のパッケージ食品において、前記食材は果物、野菜、乳製品、豚肉、魚、鶏肉、または牛肉製品、またはそれらの組み合わせである、パッケージ食品。
