Abstract
【解決手段】光学素子は、互いに係合する第1の組のプリズム及び第2の組のプリズムを含む光学構造体を備え、第2の組のプリズムは、電気光学効果材料で形成され又は電気光学効果材料が備えられ、第2の組のプリズムに電界が印加されないと、第1の組のプリズム及び第2の組のプリズムは、同一の屈折率を有し、少なくとも一対の電極は、それらの間に電界を発生させ、電界の方向における第2の組のプリズムの屈折率を変えるように、第2の組のプリズムの2つの側面にそれぞれ提供され、制御ユニットは、少なくとも一対の電極に接続され、電極に電力を供給し又は電極に電力を供給しないような制御を行い、電極に電力を供給すると、電界の強度を制御する。

Claims (11)
- 光学構造体、少なくとも一対の電極及び制御ユニットを備える光学素子であって、
前記光学構造体が、互いに係合する第1の組のプリズム及び第2の組のプリズムを含み、前記第2の組のプリズムが、電気光学効果材料で形成され又は電気光学効果材料を含み、前記第2の組のプリズムに電界が印加されないと前記第1の組のプリズム及び前記第2の組のプリズムが同一の屈折率を有し、
前記少なくとも一対の電極が、それらの間に電界を発生させ、前記電界の方向における前記第2の組のプリズムの屈折率を変えるように、前記第2の組のプリズムの2つの側面にそれぞれ提供され、
前記制御ユニットが、前記少なくとも一対の電極に接続され、前記電極に電力を供給し又は前記電極に電力を供給しないような制御を行い、前記電極に電力を供給すると前記電界の強度を制御する、光学素子。 - 前記第1及び第2の組のプリズムの全てのプリズムが、同一の大きさ及び形状である、請求項1に記載の光学素子。
- 前記プリズムがトリプルプリズムであり、その断面が直角二等辺三角形であり、その歯末角が直角である、請求項2に記載の光学素子。
- 前記第2の組のプリズムが、電界がそこに印加されると、前記電界の方向において、前記第1の組のプリズムの屈折率の(√2)/2未満である屈折率を有する、請求項3に記載の光学素子。
- それの前記歯末角に対して前記第1の組のプリズムの全てのプリズムの傾斜面が同一平面に位置し、それの前記歯末角に対して前記第2の組のプリズムの全てのプリズムの傾斜面が同一平面に位置する、請求項3に記載の光学素子。
- 前記第2の組のプリズムの幅が、前記第1の組のプリズムの幅より大きい、請求項1から5の何れか一項に記載の光学素子。
- 前記第2の組のプリズムが位置する平面に垂直で、前記プリズムの断面に垂直であるように、端面が、前記第2の組のプリズムの両側に形成され、前記少なくとも1つの一対の電極が、それぞれ前記端面に付けられ又は備えられる、請求項6に記載の光学素子。
- 前記第2の組のプリズムのそれぞれのプリズムが、そこに電気光学効果材料を含み、前記電気光学効果材料が、液体状態のニトロベンゼン又は液晶状態の青相液晶である、請求項1から5の何れか一項に記載の光学素子。
- 前記第2の組のプリズムのそれぞれのプリズムが、電気光学効果材料で形成され、前記電気光学効果材料が、固体のリン酸二水素カリウム結晶である、請求項1から5の何れか一項に記載の光学素子。
- 請求項1から9の何れか一項に記載の光学素子を備えるディスプレイ装置。
- 少なくとも上部基板、下部基板及びそれらの間にある液晶層を含む液晶パネルをさらに備え、前記光学素子に含まれる前記光学構造体が、前記下部基板の外側に位置し、前記光学構造体の前記第1の組のプリズムが、前記下部基板に結合される、請求項10に記載のディスプレイ装置。
