Description
さまざまな実施例は一般的に、データ記憶装置の一部として保護される磁気要素に関する。
データ容量がより高くなるとともに、データアクセス時間がより速くなるようデータ記憶装置が進歩するにつれて、さまざまなデータコンポーネントのサイズが低減されてきた。たとえば、データビットは、データ記憶媒体のより狭いデータトラック上により稠密に詰め込まれるようになっている。このようなデータビット密度の増加により、「サイド読出(side reading)」条件において、隣接するデータトラックからのデータビットの意図しない読出しがなされることが起こり得る。横方向の磁気シールドがデータアクセス要素に導入されることでサイドシールディングを緩和し得るが、横方向のシールドが磁束を伝える際に、磁気的非対称性および磁気的不安定性を導入する場合がある。したがって、フォームファクタが低減されたデータ記憶装置において磁気シールディングを安定化する要求が継続している。
Claims (20)
- 空気軸受面(ABS)上において、サイドシールドに隣接して位置決めされるとともに前記サイドシールドから分離される磁気スタックを含み、前記サイドシールドはダウントラック方向に沿って所定の異方性変動を有するよう構成される、データ記憶装置。
- 前記磁気スタックは、磁気的ピンド基準構造がない、第1および第2の磁気的自由層を含む3層読出センサとして構成される、請求項1に記載のデータ記憶装置。
- 所定の異方性勾配は、前記サイドシールドに接触するシード層によって提供される、請求項1に記載のデータ記憶装置。
- 前記シード層は、斜め入射スパッタリングによって形成される所定のテクスチャを有する、請求項3に記載のデータ記憶装置。
- 前記シード層は、配置後処理によって形成される所定のテクスチャを有する、請求項3に記載のデータ記憶装置。
- 前記磁気スタックは、テーパ状の側壁を有しており、実質的に台形として形状決めされる、請求項1に記載のデータ記憶装置。
- 所定の異方性勾配は、前記ダウントラック方向に沿って変動する、請求項1に記載のデータ記憶装置。
- 前記所定の異方性勾配は、均一な異方性の変化により変動する、請求項7に記載のデータ記憶装置。
- 前記サイドシールドは、クロストラック方向に沿って均一な一軸異方性を有しており、前記クロストラック方向は前記ダウントラック方向と直交する、請求項1に記載のデータ記憶装置。
- 前記サイドシールドは、前記磁気スタックの側壁に実質的に合致するよう角度付けされた側壁を有する、請求項1に記載のデータ記憶装置。
- 空気軸受面(ABS)上において、第1および第2のサイドシールドの間に配置されるとともに前記第1および第2のサイドシールドから分離される磁気スタックを含み、各サイドシールドはダウントラック方向に沿ってそれぞれ所定の異方性勾配を有するよう構成される、装置。
- 前記第1のサイドシールドは、前記第2のサイドシールドの第2の所定の異方性勾配に実質的に合致する第1の所定の異方性勾配を含む、請求項11に記載の装置。
- 前記第1のサイドシールドは、前記第2のサイドシールドの第2の所定の異方性勾配と類似していない第1の所定の異方性勾配を含む、請求項11に記載の装置。
- 前記磁気スタックは、少なくとも1つの固定された磁化層と磁気的自由層とを含む、請求項11に記載の装置。
- 前記所定の異方性勾配は、前記磁気的自由層の近位にもっとも少ない異方性の領域を位置決めする、請求項14に記載の装置。
- 前記所定の異方性勾配は、前記ダウントラック方向に沿って非均一の異方性変化を有する、請求項11に記載の装置。
- 各サイドシールドについて、前記所定の異方性勾配をシード層が提供しており、前記シード層は連続的に前記第1のサイドシールドから前記第2のサイドシールドに延在するとともに、所定のテクスチャを有するように構成される、請求項11に記載の装置。
- 空気軸受面(ABS)上において、積層されたサイドシールドに隣接して位置決めされるとともに前記積層されたサイドシールドとは分離される磁気スタックを含み、前記積層されたサイドシールドは、ダウントラック方向に沿って所定の異方性勾配を有するよう構成される、データ要素。
- 前記積層されたサイドシールドは、各強磁性シールド層について前記所定の異方性勾配を提供するために、第1の所定のテクスチャを有するよう構成される第1のシード層上に配置された少なくとも2つの強磁性シールド層を含む、請求項18に記載のデータ要素。
- 第2のシード層は、前記強磁性シールド層のうちの2つの間に位置決めされており、前記第2のシード層は、第1の所定の異方性とは異なる第2の所定の異方性を有するよう構成される、請求項19に記載のデータ要素。
