Abstract
【解決手段】プリンタと関連する色プロファイルは、デバイス独立色空間の複数の色をプリンタの複数のインクから形成される複数のインク色にマップする。複数のインク色は、所定の閾値より低いインク質量密度で形成された色のみを含む。

Claims (10)
- インクジェットプリンタであって、印刷ゾーンに配置され、かつ印刷媒体上に複数のインクでインク画像を形成するよう構成された複数のインクジェットと、プリンタに付随され、かつデバイス独立色空間の複数の色と複数のインクから形成される複数のインク色との間の色プロファイルマッピングであって、前記複数のインク色は所定の閾値より低いインク質量密度で形成される色のみを含む色プロファイルマッピング、を保存するよう構成されるメモリと、前記複数のインクジェットおよび前記メモリと動作可能に接続される制御器であって、前記制御器は、前記デバイス独立色空間に対応する色画像データの複数の色を識別し、前記色プロファイルマッピングを参照して前記色画像データの前記複数の色に対応する複数のインク色を識別し、かつ、前記複数のインクジェットを、前記印刷媒体上に前記複数のインクを排出して、前記識別された複数のインク色で印刷されたインク画像を形成するよう操作し、前記印刷されたインク画像は前記所定の閾値より低いインク質量密度を有する、ようさらに構成される制御器、を含むインクジェットプリンタ。
- 前記複数のインクはシアン、マゼンタ、イエロー、およびブラックインクを含む、請求項1に記載のプリンタ。
- 前記デバイス独立色空間はL*a*b*色空間である、請求項1に記載のプリンタ。
- 前記デバイス独立色空間は赤、緑、青(RGB)色空間である、請求項1に記載のプリンタ。
- 前記インク質量密度閾値は印刷媒体の表面上で1平方インチ当たり約6mgのインクである、請求項1に記載のプリンタ。
- 前記印刷媒体上の前記複数のインクから反射された光を参照してスキャンされた画像データを生成するよう構成される光学センサと、および前記光学センサと動作可能に接続され、かつ前記複数のインクジェットを操作して前記印刷媒体上に複数のインクマークを形成し、かつ前記複数のインクマークの複数の色を、前記デバイス独立色空間の複数の色にマップする、スキャンされた画像データからのフルカラープリンタモデルを識別し、前記フルカラープリンタモデルは、前記所定の閾値を超えるインク質量密度で前記印刷媒体上に前記複数のインクから形成された少なくとも1つの色を含む、ようさらに構成される前記制御器と、をさらに含む、請求項1に記載のプリンタ。
- 前記制御器は、前記フルカラープリンタモデルの前記複数のインク色および前記所定の閾値より低いインク質量密度で前記フルカラープリンタモデルのインク色のみに対応する前記デバイス独立色空間の複数の色に対応する、インク制限プリンタモデルを生成する、ようさらに構成される、請求項6に記載のプリンタ。
- 前記制御器は、前記1つのインク色の複数の色構成要素値を参照して、かつ前記複数の色構成要素値と前記複数の色構成要素の各色構成要素の前記複数のインク質量密度との複数の非線形関係を参照して、前記フルカラープリンタモデルの1つのインク色の複数のインク質量密度を識別し、かつ前記1つの色の識別された前記複数のインク質量密度の合計として、前記1つのインク色のインク質量密度を識別する、ようさらに構成される、請求項7に記載のプリンタ。
- 前記制御器は、前記所定の閾値を超える前記1つの色の前記識別されたインク質量密度に応じて、前記1つのインク色の少なくとも1つの色構成要素のインク質量密度に対応する値を削減し、前記複数の非線形関係を参照して前記1つのインク色の前記削減されたインク質量値に対応する前記フルカラープリンタモデルの前記複数のインクから形成された別の色を識別し、デバイス依存プリンタモデルの別の色に対応する前記デバイス独立色空間のデバイス独立色を識別し、かつ前記識別されたデバイス独立色を前記インク制限プリンタモデルの前記1つのインク色の色構成要素値と関連付ける、ようさらに構成される、請求項8に記載のプリンタ。
- 前記制御器は、前記インク制限プリンタモデルおよび前記フルカラープリンタモデルを参照して前記色プロファイルマッピングを生成する、ようさらに構成される、請求項7に記載のプリンタ。
