Abstract
【解決手段】実施形態に係わる磁気ヘッドは、第1及び第2磁気シールド層11,15間に配置される磁気抵抗素子とハードバイアス層HBとを備える。磁気抵抗素子は、第1及び第2磁気フリー層FL1,FL2と、これらの間の非磁性層13とを備える。第1及び第2磁気フリー層FL1,FL2の磁化方向は、外部磁界が零のときにハードバイアス層HBからの磁界により概略垂直状態にある。ハードバイアス層HBは、Fe、又は、FeとCoを主成分とする合金を備える。ハードバイアス層HBのアスペクト比は、2以上である。ハードバイアス層HBの厚さは、第1及び第2磁気シールド層11,15間のギャップよりも小さい。

Claims (5)
- 第1及び第2磁気シールド層と、
前記第1及び第2磁気シールド層間に配置される磁気抵抗素子と、
前記磁気抵抗素子のエアーベアリング面とは反対側において前記第1及び第2磁気シールド層間に配置されるハードバイアス層とを具備し、
前記磁気抵抗素子は、可変の磁化を有する第1及び第2磁気フリー層と、これらの間の非磁性層とを備え、
前記第1及び第2磁気フリー層の磁化方向は、外部磁界が零のときに前記ハードバイアス層からの磁界により概略垂直状態にあり、
前記ハードバイアス層は、Fe、又は、FeとCoを主成分とする合金を備え、
前記ハードバイアス層のアスペクト比(h/w)は、2以上、但し、hは、前記ハードバイアス層の高さ、wは、前記ハードバイアス層の厚さであり、
ハードバイアス層の厚さwは、前記第1及び第2磁気シールド層間のギャップGよりも小さい
磁気ヘッド。 - 前記第1及び第2磁気シールド層は、電極として機能し、
前記第1及び第2磁気シールド層間に電流を流すことにより、前記外部磁界により前記概略垂直状態から平行又は反平行方向に変化した前記磁気抵抗素子の抵抗値を読み取る
請求項1に記載の磁気ヘッド。 - 前記ハードバイアス層及び前記第1磁気シールド層間、前記ハードバイアス層及び前記第2磁気シールド層間、又は、それらの両方に、前記ハードバイアス層の磁化を固着する反強磁性層をさらに具備し、
前記ハードバイアス層と前記反強磁性層の合計の厚さt-addは、前記第1及び第2磁気シールド層間のギャップGよりも小さい
請求項1に記載の磁気ヘッド。 - 前記ハードバイアス層の高さhが20 nm以上となるとき、前記ハードバイアス層の前記磁気抵抗素子側の端から20 nm以上の第1エリア内における前記ハードバイアス層の厚さと前記反強磁性層の合計の厚さt-addは、前記ハードバイアス層の前記磁気抵抗素子側の端から20 nm未満の第2エリア内における前記ハードバイアス層の厚さと前記反強磁性層の合計の厚さt-addよりも大きく、
前記第1エリア内における前記ハードバイアス層の厚さと前記反強磁性層の合計の厚さt-addは、前記第1及び第2磁気シールド層間のギャップGよりも小さい
請求項1に記載の磁気ヘッド。 - 前記第1エリア内における前記ハードバイアス層の飽和磁化Msと厚さtとの積は、前記第1磁気フリー層の飽和磁化Msと厚さtとの積の3倍以上であり、かつ、前記第2磁気フリー層の飽和磁化Msと厚さtとの積の3倍以上である請求項1に記載の磁気ヘッド。
