Abstract
【解決手段】改良ケーブルコネクタは、強化ケーブルのコアを受け入れる寸法の軸線方向ボアを有するインサートを含む。コネクタ本体は、実質的に円筒形の外面と実質的に円筒形のキャビティを有する。キャビティの遠位部分は、インサートを受け入れる寸法になっている。遠位部分から近位方向にずれたキャビティの第2部分は、ケーブルの導体ストランドを受け入れる寸法になっている。コネクタ本体は、徐々に増大する直径を有する、1つ以上のキャビティの追加部分を備えるのがよく、その部分の数はケーブルのサイズに依存する。キャビティの内面はわずかなテーパを有してもよい。単一ダイを使用して、コネクタ本体を、スエージング工具でいくつかの軸線方向に間隔を隔てた位置で圧縮し、導体ストランドを把持し、且つインサートをも圧縮する。

Claims (19)
- 導体ストランドで囲まれたコアを有する電気ケーブル用コネクタであって、
ケーブルのコアを受け入れる寸法の軸線方向ボアを有するコネクタインサートと、
近位端に開口及び実質的に円筒形の外面を有するコネクタ本体と、を有し、開口は、コネクタインサートを受け入れる寸法の遠位部分を有するキャビティと連通し、上記遠位部分は、第1内径の第1内面を有し、上記キャビティは、さらに、遠位部分から近位にずれた、導体ストランドを受け入れる寸法の第2内径の第2内面を有する第2部分を有し、第2内径は第1内径よりも大きい、上記電気ケーブル用コネクタ。 - さらに、キャビティは、第2部分に近位方向に隣接し、第3内径の第3内面を有する第3部分を有し、第3内径は第2内径よりも大きい、請求項1に記載の電気ケーブル用コネクタ。
- キャビティは、第1内面と第2内面の間で段状になっている、請求項1に記載の電気ケーブル用コネクタ。
- キャビティは、第1内面と第2内面の間でテーパが付けられている、請求項1に記載の電気ケーブル用コネクタ。
- コネクタ本体はスプライスとして構成される、請求項1に記載の電気ケーブル用コネクタ。
- コネクタ本体は終端として構成される、請求項1に記載の電気ケーブル用コネクタ。
- コネクタインサートの軸線方向断面が、ボアを囲む環状領域から外向きに半径方向に延びる複数のスポークを有する、請求項1に記載の電気ケーブル用コネクタ。
- コネクタインサートの軸線方向断面が、円形外周から内向きに半径方向に延びる複数のスポークを有する、請求項1に記載の電気ケーブル用コネクタ。
- コネクタインサートは、一般的に、軸線方向に延びる複数のスロットを備えた管状である、請求項1に記載の電気ケーブル用コネクタ。
- コネクタインサートは、終端アイとして構成される、請求項1に記載の電気ケーブル用コネクタ。
- コネクタインサートは、終端クレビスとして構成される、請求項1に記載の電気ケーブル用コネクタ。
- 導体ストランドで囲まれたコアを有する電気ケーブルに請求項1に記載のコネクタを取り付ける方法であって、
ケーブルの端に隣接する導体ストランドの一部分を除去し、ケーブルコアの対応する部分を露出させるステップと、
コネクタインサートのボアにケーブルコアの露出部分を挿入するステップと、
コネクタインサートがコネクタ本体のキャビティの遠位部分に挿入され、導体ストランドがキャビティの第2部分に挿入されるように、コネクタ本体のキャビティにケーブルの端を挿入するステップと、
キャビティの遠位部分を囲むコネクタ本体の外面を少なくとも第1圧縮力で圧縮するステップと、
キャビティの第2部分を囲むコネクタ本体の外面を第2圧縮力で圧縮するステップとを有する上記方法。 - コネクタ本体の外面を圧縮するステップは、スエージング工具を使用して実行される、請求項12に記載の方法。
- さらに、コネクタ本体のキャビティにケーブルの端を挿入するステップの前に、コネクタインサートを圧縮して、コネクタインサートに挿入されたケーブルコアの部分に係合させるステップを有する請求項12に記載の方法。
- コネクタインサートを圧縮するステップは、スエージング工具を使用して実行される、請求項14に記載の方法。
- コネクタストランドで囲まれたコアを有する電気ケーブルに請求項2に記載のコネクタを取り付ける方法であって、
ケーブルの端に隣接する導体ストランドの一部分を除去し、ケーブルコアの対応する部分を露出させるステップと、
コネクタインサートのボアにケーブルコアの露出部分を挿入するステップと、
コネクタインサートがコネクタ本体内のキャビティの遠位部分に挿入され、導体ストランドがキャビティの第2部分に挿入されるように、コネクタ本体のキャビティにケーブルの端を挿入するステップと、
キャビティの遠位部分を囲むコネクタ本体の外面を少なくとも第1圧縮力で圧縮するステップと、
キャビティの第2部分を囲むコネクタ本体の外面を第2圧縮力で圧縮するステップと、
キャビティの第3部分を囲むコネクタ本体の外面を第3圧縮力で圧縮するステップとを有する上記方法。 - コネクタ本体の外面を圧縮するステップは、スエージング工具を使用して実行される、請求項16に記載の方法。
- さらに、コネクタ本体のキャビティにケーブルの端を挿入するステップの前に、コネクタインサートを圧縮して、コネクタインサートに挿入されたケーブルコアの部分に係合させるステップを有する請求項16に記載の方法。
- コネクタインサートを圧縮するステップは、スエージング工具を使用して実行される、請求項18に記載の方法。
