Abstract

噴射可能な流体を噴射するためのインクジェット印刷ヘッドを提供する。
図1を参照すると、複数のノズルアセンブリを備えた印刷ヘッドの一部分が示される。図2及び図3は、これらのノズルアセンブリのうちの1つを断面図及び破断斜視図で示す。
以上のことから、任意のタイプの印刷ヘッドが類似の態様で疎水化できることが理解できるだろう。しかし、ポリマーコーティングは、ポリマー層が印刷ヘッドの移動ルーフ部分と静止体との間の機械的シールとしての役目をするため、本発明の出願人のサーマルベンドアクチュエータノズルアセンブリで使用するのに特に有利である。これらの利点は、その内容が参照によって本明細書に組み込まれる本出願の出願人の米国特許出願公開2008/0225076号に一層詳細に説明される。
疎水性ポリマー層80は、本出願の出願人の印刷ヘッドの重要な特徴であることが判明している。それは、全体の印刷品質を向上させるのに役立つように、印刷ヘッドの前面を疎水化するだけでなく、作動可能な状態に印刷ヘッドを維持するために採用される印刷ヘッド保守手段(例えば、ワイパーブレード)の平らな疎水性の表面をもたらすことによって印刷ヘッド保守も補助する。もちろん、上記のサーマルベンド作動型印刷ヘッド100の場合において、ポリマー80は、印刷ヘッドの本体からノズルの移動部分を機械的にシールする追加機能をもたらす。
1. コーティングの直後に2分間110℃で接触ベーク
2. 6.5分間300℃で接触ベーク
3. 130秒間UV露出(約1300mJ)
4. 1時間オーブン硬化(180℃から始まり、約4℃/分で上昇)
上記の本出願の出願人のハードベーキングプロセスは、MSQ又はPSQでコーティングされた優れた耐久性を有する印刷ヘッドをもたらすが、ハードベーキングは任意の従来の工程の次に実施できることが理解できるであろう。
上記のように、ポリマーコーティングとして使用するのに、MSQ及びPSQは、PDMSを越える重大な利点を有するが、PDMSがなお適切な材料である場合がある。例えば、低動力のサーマルベンド作動型印刷ヘッドでは、インク滴噴射エネルギーを最小にするのに、PDMSのより低いヤング率は有利であり得る。例えば、PDMSの低いヤング率以外の耐摩耗性の特徴を向上させることが望ましい。
Claims (17)
- インク噴射面を有する印刷ヘッドであって、
前記インク噴射面の少なくとも一部分は、ポリシルセスキオキサンからなる群から選択される疎水性ポリマー材料でコーティングされている、当該印刷ヘッド。 - 前記ポリマー材料が、ポリ(アルキルシルセスキオキサン)及びポリ(アリルシルセスキオキサン)からなる群から選択される、請求項1に記載の印刷ヘッド。
- 前記ポリマー材料が、ポリ(メチルシルセスキオキサン)及びポリ(フェニルシルセスキオキサン)からなる群から選択される、請求項1に記載の印刷ヘッド。
- 前記ポリマー材料が、MEMS印刷ヘッド製造中に前記印刷ヘッドのノズル板上に付着され堅焼きされる、請求項1に記載の印刷ヘッド。
- 基板上に形成された複数のノズルアセンブリを具備し、各ノズルアセンブリは、ノズルチャンバと、前記ノズルチャンバのルーフに画定されたノズル開口と、前記ノズル開口を通してインクを噴射するためのアクチュエータとを備える、請求項1に記載の印刷ヘッド。
- 前記ポリマー材料が前記印刷ヘッドのノズル板上にコーティングされ、前記ノズル板が各ノズルチャンバの前記ルーフによって少なくとも部分的に画定される、請求項5に記載の印刷ヘッド。
- 各ルーフが疎水性コーティングの効果によって各ノズルチャンバの内面と比較して疎水性である外面を有する、請求項6に記載の印刷ヘッド。
- 各ノズルチャンバが、セラミック材料から成るルーフと側壁とを備える、請求項5に記載の印刷ヘッド。
- 前記セラミック材料が、窒化シリコン、酸化ケイ素及び酸窒化シリコンからなる群から選択される、請求項8に記載の印刷ヘッド。
- 前記ルーフが、各ノズルチャンバの側壁がノズル板と前記基板との間に延在するように、前記基板から間隔を置いて配置される、請求項5に記載の印刷ヘッド。
- 前記アクチュエータが、気泡を形成するように前記チャンバ内でインクを加熱し、それによって、前記ノズル開口を通してインク小滴を押し出すように構成されるヒータ要素である、請求項5に記載の印刷ヘッド。
- 前記ヒータ要素が前記ノズルチャンバ内に懸架される、請求項11に記載の印刷ヘッド。
- 前記アクチュエータが、
