Abstract
【解決手段】本開示に係る表示装置は、加法混色用副画素と輝度調整用副画素とを含む画素が2次元マトリクス状に配列されて成る表示部、及び、輝度調整用副画素における最大階調の輝度を外光照度に応じて制御する信号制御部、を備えている。

を備えている表示装置である。

本開示に係る表示装置にあっては、反射型の表示部や透過型の表示部の他、両者の特徴を併せ持った半透過型の表示部も用いることができる。これらの表示部として、液晶表示パネルなどの表示パネルを挙げることができる。あるいは又、自発光型の表示部を用いることもできる。自発光型の表示部として、エレクトロルミネッセンス表示パネル、プラズマ表示パネル等を挙げることができる。
第1の実施形態は、本開示に係る表示装置に関する。
第2の実施形態は、第1の実施形態の変形例である。第2の実施形態は、第1の実施形態に対し、輝度調整用副画素が表示する色が相違すると共に副画素の面積の設定が相違する。
(1)加法混色用副画素と輝度調整用副画素とを含む画素が2次元マトリクス状に配列されて成る表示部、及び、
輝度調整用副画素における最大階調の輝度を外光照度に応じて制御する信号制御部、
を備えている表示装置。
(2)表示部は反射型または半透過型である上記(1)に記載の表示装置。
(3)輝度調整用副画素における最大階調の輝度は外光照度が高くなるにつれて低くなるように制御される上記(1)又は(2)に記載の表示装置。
(4)輝度調整用副画素の階調は加法混色用副画素の輝度情報を表す信号に基づいて制御される上記(1)乃至(3)のいずれかに記載の表示装置。
(5)輝度情報を表す信号はY刺激値を表す信号である上記(4)に記載の表示装置。
(6)輝度調整用副画素は加法混色用副画素が表示する色よりも彩度が低い色を表示する上記(1)乃至(5)のいずれかに記載の表示装置。
(7)輝度調整用副画素は白色を表示する上記(6)に記載の表示装置。
(8)輝度調整用副画素は加法混色用副画素が表示する色とは異なる色を表示する上記(1)に記載の表示装置。
(9)輝度調整用副画素は黄色又はシアンを表示する上記(8)に記載の表示装置。

- 加法混色用副画素と輝度調整用副画素とを含む画素が2次元マトリクス状に配列されて成る表示部、及び、
輝度調整用副画素における最大階調の輝度を外光照度に応じて制御する信号制御部、
を備えている表示装置。 - 表示部は反射型または半透過型である請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 輝度調整用副画素における最大階調の輝度は外光照度が高くなるにつれて低くなるように制御される請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 輝度調整用副画素の階調は加法混色用副画素の輝度情報を表す信号に基づいて制御される請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 輝度情報を表す信号はY刺激値を表す信号である請求項4に記載の表示装置。
- 輝度調整用副画素は加法混色用副画素が表示する色よりも彩度が低い色を表示する請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 輝度調整用副画素は白色を表示する請求項6に記載の表示装置。
- 輝度調整用副画素は加法混色用副画素が表示する色とは異なる色を表示する請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 輝度調整用副画素は黄色又はシアンを表示する請求項8に記載の表示装置。
