Abstract
【解決手段】光源11等を収容する筐体13の上板部13Bのうち接着層30と接する位置に複数の凸部13Eが設けられている。各凸部13Eは、上板部13B全体に分布しており、接着層30と液晶パネル20とが互いに点接触するような立体形状となっている。接着層30のうち凸部13Eの直上以外の部分と液晶パネル20との間には、隙間が形成されている。

まず、本発明の一実施の形態に係る表示装置1について説明する。図1は、表示装置1の概略構成の一例を展開して斜視的に表したものである。この表示装置1は、液晶パネル20と、液晶パネル20の背後に配置されたバックライト10と、液晶パネル20とバックライト10との間に配置された接着層30と、液晶パネル20を駆動する駆動回路(図示せず)とを備えている。なお、液晶パネル20が本発明の「表示パネル」の一具体例に相当し、バックライト10が本発明の「照明装置」の一具体例に相当する。以下、表示装置1の内部構成について、液晶パネル20、接着層30、バックライト10の順に説明する。
液晶パネル20は、映像を表示するためのものであり、例えば、図1に示したような4辺を有する方形状となっている。この液晶パネル20は、例えば、映像信号に応じて各画素が駆動される透過型の表示パネルであり、液晶層を一対の透明基板で挟み込んだ構造となっている。液晶パネル20のうち各画素の配置された領域が映像表示領域20Aとなっており、液晶パネル20の外縁(具体的には映像表示領域20Aの周縁)が映像非表示領域であるフレーム領域20Bとなっている。液晶パネル20は、例えば、図示しないが、バックライト10側から順に、偏光子、透明基板、画素電極、配向膜、液晶層、配向膜、共通電極、カラーフィルタ、透明基板および偏光子を有している。
接着層30は、液晶パネル20およびバックライト10を互いに固定するものである。接着層30は、例えば、両面テープからなり、液晶パネル20およびバックライト10のそれぞれの外縁を互いに接着するようになっている。接着層30は、後述する筐体13の上板部13Bの凹凸面に接して形成されており、上板部13Bの凹凸面の表面形状に倣って形成されている。つまり、接着層30は、上板部13Bの凹凸面の表面形状に倣う程度の厚さとなっている。
図4(A)は、バックライト10の平面構成の一例を表したものである。図4(B)は、図4(A)のバックライト10のA−A矢視方向の断面構成の一例を表したものである。バックライト10は、液晶パネル20を背後から照明するものであり、例えば、図4(B)に示したように、光源11と、光学部材12と、これらを収容する筐体13とにより構成されたものである。
次に、表示装置1の効果について説明する。
上記実施の形態では、凹凸面(複数の凸部13E)が上板部13B全体に形成されていたが、上板部13Bの一部にだけ形成されていてもよい。具体的には、上板部13Bが、4辺を有する方形状となっている場合に、凹凸面(複数の凸部13E)が、上板部13Bの4辺のうち少なくとも互いに対向する2辺に形成されていてもよい。この場合、接着層30も、上板部13Bの4辺のうち凹凸面(複数の凸部13E)の形成されている辺にだけ形成されていればよい。

所定の間隙を介して前記底板部と向き合う位置に設けられ、かつ前記接着層と接する位置に凹凸面を有する環状の上板部と、
