Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an immersion heater for heating or maintaining a molten metal held in a holding furnace and a method of using the immersion heater.
Conventionally, molten metal is held in a holding furnace until it is used in a mold machine and a mold, and an immersion heater is used to heat or keep the molten metal in the holding furnace. Examples of the immersion heater include an upper type that is used by immersing the molten metal in the depth direction of the holding furnace, and an under heater type that is used by being disposed at the bottom of the holding furnace.
As said upper type immersion heater, the thing of the structure shown, for example in
Examples of the underheater type immersion heater include those shown in Patent Documents 2 and 3, for example. The immersion heater is a straight type heater body, and the structure in which an electrode is attached to one end is substantially the same as the above-described upper type immersion heater, but a hole is made in the lower part of the side wall of the holding furnace, It is used by being inserted into the inside of the holding furnace from the outside through the hole.
However, the conventional upper type immersion heater has the advantage that it can be installed at a free position desired by the operator without any modification of the holding furnace, but heats the surface portion of the molten metal. Because the convection of the molten metal is difficult to occur inside the holding furnace, the thermal efficiency is poor, and impurities such as metal oxides and inclusions mixed in the molten metal are likely to collect at the bottom of the holding furnace. Had the problem of being easily mixed in.
On the other hand, the above-mentioned conventional underheater type immersion heater is arranged at the bottom of the holding furnace, so that the heated molten metal causes convection in the holding furnace, has good thermal efficiency, and impurities easily float on the surface of the molten metal, There is an advantage that the molten metal pumped out becomes clean. However, the installation requires renovation of the currently used holding furnace such as making a hole in the side wall, etc., and in order to prevent the molten metal from leaking from the hole in the side wall of the holding furnace, a gap by the hole is formed. It was necessary to bury and fix the immersion heater to the holding furnace, and there were problems that the installation cost was increased, the installation position could not be changed, and that much maintenance and repair were required.
The present invention has been made paying attention to such problems existing in the prior art. The purpose is to provide an immersion heater that has a high degree of freedom in the installation position in the holding furnace and can be installed without modifying the conventional holding furnace. In addition, in use in an existing holding furnace, it is possible to reduce the amount of fossil fuel used such as natural gas used for heating and holding the holding furnace (molten metal), and to provide an immersion heater having excellent thermal efficiency. It is in.

The base end of the heater body and the electrode are covered with a connection body made of a ceramic box (intermediate joint), and the power transmission line is housed in a power transmission pipe made of a ceramic tube. According to the immersion heater, not only the heater main body but also the connecting body made of ceramics and the power transmission tube can be immersed in the molten metal, and it goes without saying that it is used as an immersion heater such as an upper mold. As an immersion heater, it can be used by installing it at the bottom of the holding furnace for molten metal, and the position in the holding furnace can be changed freely. It can be. Further, by connecting the base end portion of the power transmission tube to the connection body, the base end portion of the power transmission tube and the base end portion of the heater body are connected to each other through the connection body in a substantially L shape. According to the immersion heater of the present invention having an approximately L-order shape, when used as an under-heater type immersion heater, the tip of the power transmission tube connected to the heater body in an approximately L shape is more external than the surface of the molten metal. Therefore, a part of the power transmission line connected to the power source is not immersed in the molten metal, and can be installed without modifying the holding furnace such as making a hole in the side wall. Moreover, the immersion heater of the present invention is excellent in thermal efficiency to the molten metal in the holding furnace. By using the immersion heater of the present invention, the amount of fossil fuel such as natural gas used is about 20 to 30% (preferably Can be reduced by 25% or more). Furthermore, CO 2 emissions can be suppressed by reducing the amount of fossil fuel used.
If the inside of the power transmission tube communicates with the inside of the connection tube, a refrigerant supply pipe is arranged inside the power transmission tube, and a refrigerant discharge part is provided at the tip of the power transmission tube, the inside of the connection body By feeding the refrigerant, the electrode heated by the molten metal can be cooled, and by cooling the electrode, the warmed refrigerant can be efficiently discharged to the outside.
When a heat insulating material is arranged on the inner surface of the connection body, heat from the molten metal can be prevented from being transmitted to the electrode inside the connection body or the transmission line inside the power transmission tube, particularly as described above. When the electrode is cooled with a refrigerant, the molten metal can be prevented from being cooled by the refrigerant.
In the case where a plurality of convex portions are provided at positions where the electrodes come into contact with the base end portion of the heater body, the contact between the electrode and the heater body in a high-heat atmosphere by molten metal can be ensured.
According to the method of using the immersion heater of the present invention, the heated molten metal is immersed in the molten metal so that the heater body extends along the bottom surface of the holding furnace. Moves to the upper part of the holding furnace, and the molten metal that has been held at the upper part of the holding furnace moves to the bottom of the holding furnace so that the molten metal can be gently convected inside the holding furnace. The temperature of the molten metal becomes uniform as a whole, and the thermal efficiency can be improved.
Hereinafter, an embodiment embodying the immersion heater of the present invention will be described.
For example, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 9, the

As shown in FIGS. 4 and 7, a cooling medium (refrigerant)

The refrigerant is preferably air. When the refrigerant is air, the refrigerant can be supplied from the
As shown in FIGS. 7 and 5, the
In the present invention, the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments, and various modifications can be made within the scope of the present invention depending on the purpose and application.
