Abstract
【解決手段】複数の有機EL素子の間に波長選択性を有する誘電体ミラーを配し、特に有機EL素子の青い光を、透光性を有する電極に極力通さないことで、光の減衰を抑える。これにより、高輝度で長寿命な、発光色の変調を可能にする発光装置を提供できる。また、当該発光装置は、個々に劣化する各有機EL素子にかかる電圧を独立に制御することで、色調を長期に渡り一定に保つことができる。

Description
本発明の一実施形態に係る発光装置を、主に図1を用いて説明する。図1は、発光装置の基本的な構成を示す断面図である。図2には、当該発光装置の一部の構成を変更した例を示す。なお、本明細書中においては、1対の電極の間に発光領域となる有機EL層を有し、両電極間に電圧を印加することで発光を生じるものを有機EL素子といい、該有機EL素子を少なくとも1つ以上用いて混色の光を発するものを発光装置と称す。
本発明の一実施形態に係る発光装置を、図3を用いて説明する。図3は、発光ダイオードと有機EL素子を含む当該発光装置の基本的な構成を示す断面図である。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一実施形態に利用できる有機EL素子を作製する方法について説明する。
本実施の形態では、図1に示した有機EL素子101、102の作製方法の例について説明する。ここでは、有機EL素子101を黄色発光素子、有機EL素子102を青色発光素子とし、白色の発光装置を作製する例を示す。
本実施の形態では、本発明を適用して作製した発光装置を用いて完成させた様々な電子機器について、図6、図7を用いて説明する。

- 反射電極と透光性を有する電極を含む第1の発光素子と、
誘電体ミラーと、
1対の透光性を有する電極を含む第2の発光素子とを有し、
前記第1の発光素子は、前記反射電極を上側にして配置され、
前記第1の発光素子の下に、前記誘電体ミラーが配置され、
前記誘電体ミラーの下に、前記第2の発光素子が配置され、
前記誘電体ミラーは前記第1の発光素子の発する光を透過し、前記第2の発光素子の発する光を反射することを特徴とする発光装置。 - 請求項1において、
前記第1の発光素子または前記第2の発光素子は、有機EL素子であることを特徴とする発光装置。 - 請求項1または請求項2において、
前記第1の発光素子の発する光は、前記第2の発光素子の発する光よりも長波長であることを特徴とする発光装置。 - ミラーと、
1対の透光性を有する電極を含む第1の発光素子と、
誘電体ミラーと、
1対の透光性を有する電極を含む第2の発光素子とを有し、
前記ミラーの下に、前記第1の発光素子が配置され、
前記第1の発光素子の下に、前記誘電体ミラーが配置され、
前記誘電体ミラーの下に、前記第2の発光素子が配置され、
前記誘電体ミラーは前記第1の発光素子の発する光を透過し、前記第2の発光素子の発する光を反射することを特徴とする発光装置。 - 請求項4において、
前記第1の発光素子または前記第2の発光素子は、有機EL素子であることを特徴とする発光装置。 - 請求項4または請求項5において、
前記第1の発光素子の発する光は、前記第2の発光素子の発する光よりも長波長であることを特徴とする発光装置。 - 発光ダイオードと、
誘電体ミラーと、
1対の透光性を有する電極を含む有機EL素子とを有し、
前記発光ダイオードの下に、前記誘電体ミラーが配置され、
前記誘電体ミラーの下に、前記有機EL素子が配置され、
前記誘電体ミラーは前記発光ダイオードの発する光を透過し、前記有機EL素子の発する光を反射することを特徴とする発光装置。
