Abstract

Description
システムにおけるそれぞれのオブジェクトモデルは、統一モデリング言語(UML)クラスダイアグラムを使用して記述される。クラスダイアグラムは、関係によって接続されたオブジェクトクラスの集合からなり、ここでは、関連と汎化という2つの種類の関係に注目する。関連は、オブジェクト間のある種の関係、つまりクラスのインスタンス間のある種の関係を表す。汎化は、実際のクラスを関係付けるもので、クラスがそのクラスのすべてのオブジェクトの集合と考えられ、クラスAがクラスBの汎化であれば、Bは、単に、Aの部分集合であるというように理解できる。UMLでは、2次モデリング、つまり、クラスのクラスを直接的にはサポートしていない。
ネットページは、ネットページネットワークを構築するための基礎である。ネットページは、公開された情報及びインタラクティブサービスに対する紙を利用したユーザーインターフェースを構成する。
2.1 タグデータのコンテンツ
好ましい一実施形態では、それぞれのタグは、それが出現する領域、及び領域内におけるそのタグの位置を識別する。タグは、さらに、全体として領域に関係するか、又はそのタグに関係するフラグを含むこともできる。例えば、1つ又は複数のフラグビットは、タグ感知デバイス側で領域の記述を参照しなくても、タグの即時領域に関連する機能を示すフィードバックを返すようにタグ感知デバイスに通知することができる。例えば、ネットページペンは、ハイパーリンクのゾーン内にあるときに「アクティブ領域」LEDを点灯させることができる。
それぞれのタグは、120ビットの情報を含み、これらは典型的には表1に示されているように割り当てられている。最大タグ密度が64/平方インチであると仮定すると、16ビットタグIDは、最大1024平方インチまでの領域サイズをサポートする。単に隣接する領域とマップを使用するだけでタグIDの精度を高めることなく、より大きな領域を連続的にマッピングできる。100ビット領域IDを使用すると、2100(約1030つまり、100万の1兆倍の1兆倍)個の異なる領域を一意的に識別することができる。
120ビットのタグデータは、(15,5)リードソロモン符号を使用して冗長符号化される。これにより、それぞれ15個の4ビットシンボルからなる6個のコードワードからなる360個の符号化ビットが得られる。(15,5)符号を使用すると、最大5個のまでのシンボル誤りをコードワード毎に訂正することができる、つまり、1コードワード当たり最大33%までのシンボル誤り率に耐える。
図5aに示されている、タグの物理的表現は、固定ターゲット構造15、16、17、及び可変データ領域18を含む。固定ターゲット構造を使用すると、ネットページペンなどの感知デバイスでタグを検出し、センサーに相対的な3次元の配向を推論することができる。データ領域は、符号化されたタグデータの個別のビットの表現を含む。
ネットページペンなどの感知デバイスによって実行されるタグのイメージ処理及び復号化は、図7に示されている。取り込まれたイメージがイメージセンサーから取得されている間に、イメージのダイナミックレンジが決定される(20で)。そこで、範囲の中心は、イメージ21のバイナリ閾値として選択される。次いで、イメージは閾値化されて、複数の連結ピクセル領域(つまり、形状23)にセグメント分割される(22で)。小さすぎてタグターゲット構造を表現できない形状は、破棄される。それぞれの形状のサイズ及び重心も、計算される。
上述のタグ構造は、タグの規則正しいタイリングが可能でない場合のある非平面の表面のタグ付けをサポートするように設計されている。より一般的である、タグの規則正しいタイリングが可能な平面の表面、つまり、用紙などの表面の場合には、タイリングの規則正しさを利用する、より効率的なタグ構造が使用されうる。
タグを復号化すると、その結果、領域ID、タグID、及びタグ相対的ペン変換が得られる。タグID及びタグ相対的ペン配置をタグ付き領域内の絶対配置に変換する前に、その領域内のタグの配置が知られていなければならない。この配置は、タグマップによって与えられるが、これは、タグ付き領域内のそれぞれのタグIDを対応する配置にマッピングする機能である。タグマップクラスダイアグラムは、ネットページプリンタクラスダイアグラムの一部として図22に示されている。
好ましい符号化スキームでは、すでに説明したように「配置指示」タグを使用する。代替え符号化スキームでは、オブジェクト指示タグを使用する。

好ましい一実施形態では、ネットページネットワークは、図3に示されているように、インターネットなどのネットワーク19を介して接続されている、ネットページページサーバ10、ネットページ登録サーバ11、ネットページIDサーバ12、ネットページアプリケーションサーバ13、及びネットページリレーデバイス601の分散型の集合体からなる。
ネットページシステムのアクティブな感知デバイスは、クリッカー(表面上の特定の位置をクリックするため)、スタイラス(ポインタストロークを使用して表面上でポイントするか、又はジェスチャーを使用するため)を有するポインタ、又はマーキング用ペン先(表面上でポイントしたり、ジェスチャーを使用したり、書いたりするときに表面にインクでマーキングするため)を有するペンの形態をとりうる。本明細書では、ペン101が説明されているけれども、クリッカー及びポインタは、類似の構造を持つものとしてもよいことは理解されるであろう。ペン101では、組込コントローラ134を使用して、イメージセンサーを介して1つのページからネットページタグを取り込んで復号化する。イメージセンサーは、近赤外線波長でのみ感知を許す適切なフィルタを備えた固体デバイスである。以下でさらに詳しく説明されるように、システムは、ペン先が表面といつ接触したかを感知することができ、ペンは、人間の手書きを取り込む十分なレートで(つまり、200dpi又はそれ以上、及び100Hz又はそれ以上の速さで)タグを感知することができる。ペンによって取り込まれた情報は、暗号化されて、無線によりプリンタ(又は基地局)に送信され、プリンタ又は基地局が(知られている)ページ構造に照らしてデータを解釈することができる。

ハイパーリンクは、メッセージをリモートアプリケーションに送信する一手段であり、典型的には、ネットページシステムにおける表示又は印刷による応答を引き出す。
ハイパーリンクアクティブ化プロトコルの好ましい一実施形態は、図42に示されている。
フォームは、印刷されたネットページを通じて関係する一組の入力を取り込むために使用される関連する入力フィールドの集合体を定めるものである。フォームにより、ユーザーは1つ又は複数のパラメータを、サーバ上で実行中のアプリケーションソフトウェアプログラムにサブミットすることができる。
システムは、それぞれのペンに対する現在の選択を保持する。選択は、単純に、バックグラウンドフィールド内に取り込まれた一番最近のストロークからなる。選択は、必ず予測可能な挙動となるように不活動タイムアウトの後にクリアされる。
7.1 ペンの機構
図8及び図9を参照すると、一般的に参照番号101で示されているペンは、ペンコンポーネントを装着するための内部空間104を定める壁103を有するプラスチック成形物の形態のハウジング102を備えている。ハウジング102上にモードセレクターボタン209が備えられている。ペン頂部105は、ハウジング102の一端106に回転可能なように装着されて動作する。半透明カバー107は、ハウジング102の対向端108に固定される。カバー107はまた、成形プラスチック製であり、ハウジング102内に装着されたLEDのステータスをユーザーが見られるようにするために半透明材料を使って形成されている。カバー107は、ハウジング102の端部108を実質的に囲んでいる主部109及び主部109から後ろへ突き出て、ハウジング102の壁103内に形成された対応する溝111内に嵌る突起部110を備える。無線アンテナ112は、ハウジング102内の突起部110の背後に装着される。カバー107上の開口113Aを囲むネジ山113は、対応するネジ山115を含む形で金属末端部114を受け入れるように配置されている。金属末端部114は、インクカートリッジを交換できるように取り外し可能である。
・スタイラス120のペン先121が出る。
・インクカートリッジ118のペン先119が出る。
・インクカートリッジ118のペン先119も、スタイラス120のペン先121も出ない。
ペン101は、赤外線スペクトルで、ペン先の近くにある表面の一領域を撮像することにより、ペン先(スタイラスペン先121又はインクカートリッジペン先119)の位置を決定するように配列されている。これは、最も近い位置にある配置タグから配置データを記録し、また光学系135及びコントローラチップ134を使用して配置タブからペン先121又は119の距離を計算するように配列される。コントローラチップ134は、ペンの配向及び撮像されたタグ上で観察される遠近歪みからのペン先−タグ間距離を計算する。
ペンのペン先に接続するのに適している力センサーは、図28に例示されているように、1つの固定された板と少なくとも1つのバネに取り付けられている1つの移動可能な板とを有する平行板キャパシタである。外力がバネを圧縮し、これらの板の間の距離を変化させ、したがって静電容量を変化させる。静電容量の変化を測定することにより、外力の量を知ることができる。

ネットページシステムの力センサーのいくつかの要件を以下に示す。
・ペンダウン遅延時間<1.5ms
・最終サンプリングレート50Hzから150Hz
・10ビットを単調に出力する
・消費電力<100uW(55uA@1.8V)
・動作温度範囲−10℃から55℃
・6グラムでペンダウン検出
・精度<20%
これらの要件を考慮して、VHDLモデリングが実行された。
1次シグマ/デルタ容量センサーについて書かれたVHDLモデルでは、本発明の、距離に比例する(1/C)構成を調べる。
すでに説明されているように、図33の2次構成では、1次設計に比べて最適化できるパラメータが増えている。

コンバータの両方のモードについて同じである、デシメータ利得は、
で与えられるが、ただし、式中、dec=デシメーション係数、n=デシメータの次数、scale=デシメータ出力における倍率であり、2の累乗でなければならない。デジタル出力は、10ビットであり、scaleは、有用なデータをこれらの10ビット内に収めるように調整されなければならない(又は、これが許容可能な場合に何らかのクリッピングを行えるようにする)。典型的には、シグマ/デルタCDCは、デシメータ出力がフルスケールに達しないように内部クリッピングを回避するためにフルスケールの10%から90%までの範囲内でのみ動作すべきである。

図37及び38にプロットされているグラフは、第8.1.3節の式から導き出されたもので、指定されたキャパシタ値誤差による測定された力誤差を示している。
ペン先は、100uまで移動することが許されており、したがって、50uから150uまでの範囲が実用的である。センサー静電容量は、0.333pFから1pFまでの範囲内にあると予想される。次いで、Cref=0.333pFとすると、出力は、1Vから0.333Vまでの範囲内となる(全範囲の変更形態では−0.34V)。フルスケールに到達できないことによるS/N損失は、20*log(2/3)=3.5dBにすぎない。

回路シミュレーションは、容量性インターフェースを実装するための基準のいくつかを示している。
センサーに接続されているステージは、このノードでグラウンドへの寄生容量の効果を解消することができなければならない。入力抵抗は、1/gmで与えられ、Cpar/gmの時定数を持つRCフィルタを形成する。この時定数は、積分器の整定時間に支配的であり、第1のステージの最小gm要件を決定するために使用されうる。電圧ステップ応答は、

第1の積分器が、容量センサーと直接インターフェースするために使用される場合、未使用の差動入力をコモンモード電圧vcmに直接接続して、仮想アース加算ノードでの抵抗を最低にすることが望ましい。しかし、OTAにおけるオフセットのため、この接続は、サンプリングフェーズで格納され、評価フェーズで相殺されるように、キャパシタとなされなければならない。
20fFでは小さすぎる場合がある。慎重なレイアウト及び良好な抽出を必要とする。
マルチプレクサによっては、積分器の加算点に直接接続されるものもある。この場合、ボディソースダイオード及びサブスレッショルド電流による漏れは、最小限度に抑えられなければならない。十分な絶縁を得るために、capdacと変調装置入力マルチプレクサの両方にT字型スイッチが使用されうる。
センサーノードへのDC漏れ電流は、回路の精度を落とす。アナログ入力パッドは、最大のソースになると予想される。1nAの漏れ電流の場合、積分器1ステップ当たりの誤差はlnA*15.625us/3pF=5.2mVとなる。両方のモードにおいて、この電流により、結果として、ペンアップの力誤差は20gとなる。これは、励起信号及び変調装置入力をチョッピングすることにより解決できる。チョッピング信号は、デシメーションフィルタの出力期間内に偶数個のサイクルを含んでいなければならない。この漏れ電流が変換範囲の一部を使い切るので、コンバータがその動作範囲内に収まっていることを保証されなければならない。コンバータが飽和(これはペンアップ時に発生する可能性が最も高い)しないことを前提として、シグマ/デルタ変調装置内のフィードバックにより、範囲損失が最小限に抑えられる。
センサーの並列抵抗は、チョッピングでは補正されえず、時間依存の電荷注入を行う。これは、センサーと並列につないだキャパシタのように見えるが、ただし、このキャパシタの値はクロック周波数に依存する。漏れ電流が50nAである、値1.8/(2*50nA)=18MΩの抵抗器をとると、図40は、並列抵抗器なしで、数サイクル後にビットパターンが基準からずれることを示している。
によって与えられるが、ただし、式中、Fsはサンプリング周波数であり、Rpは並列抵抗である。2の係数が2つで4の係数となる。第1は、漏れ電流の積分は、サイクル時間の半分である積分器の評価フェーズでのみ実行されることである。第2に、CDSのため、キャパシタに対するクロックの両方のフェーズで電荷が考慮される。事実上、センサーキャパシタは、vddの電圧振幅に従うが、抵抗器は、vdd/2にのみ従う。これは、仮想アース点が、vdd/2に保持され、抵抗器は0又はvddで駆動されるからである。Fs=64kHz及びRp=1GΩでは、Ceq=3.9fFとなる。
これは、本発明の構成について考慮される場合のある設計基準のうちの他方の基準である。
ドライバ出力は、クロックサイクルの半分の期間内に整定しなければならない。式

において定電流駆動であると仮定すると、Fs=64kHzについて、Cpar=50pF、Vd=1.8V、Imin=11.5uAである。
抵抗性の駆動であると仮定すると、

これは、アンチエイリアシングフィルタではない。スイッチドキャパシタ回路内部にあるため、そのカットオフ周波数は、整定時間に直接影響を及ぼす。近似として、カットオフ周波数は、約10Fsでなければならない。カットオフ及び最高サンプリング周波数が1MHz固定である場合、これは、10MHzに設定されるべきである。
クロックバイアスを使用することにより、出力が入力に接続されているときに低い電圧利得が許容可能なので、積分器のサンプルフェーズ(クロックph0=1)において電流を節約することが可能である。このサンプルフェーズで、電流消費量を10%まで削減することが可能である。
表5は、2クロック位相における電流消費及び64kHzクロックによる平均を示している。緩衝増幅器にはメリットがないため、クロックバイアス機能は、シグマ/デルタコンバータにのみ適用された。バンドギャップ基準及び低消費電力発振器ではさらに電流を必要とする。
DCでは、インターフェースの式中で相殺されるので、回路の動作範囲以外ではvddへの依存はない。しかし、フィードバックループは、前のクロックサイクルから次のクロックサイクルまでの間の変動を相殺できないけれども、ある種の平均化がデシメーションフィルタ内で生じる可能性がある。これは、VHDLモデルにおいて見られるが、電源電圧除去の量は、センサー静電容量とともに変化するので簡単には推定できない。
主にシミュレーションのためである。追加の手間を省くため、すべてのスイッチは閉じられる。
1.8Vの入力振幅では、図42に示されている加算点電圧は、OTAが応答する前に0.9V±1.8Vに瞬時に到達しうる。この結果、クリッピング及び電荷減少が生じ、積分器の出力に大きな誤差が発生する。これは、駆動波形の立ち上がり及び立ち下がり時間のいずれかを延ばすことにより解決されうるが、これは、低インピーダンススルーレート制限ドライバが必要になるため望ましいものではない。それとは別に、キャパシタを加算点のところでグラウンドに追加することができる。これが、入力キャパシタに等しい場合、電圧振幅は、0.9V±0.9Vに制限されるであろう。これは、パッド及びグラウンドの寄生容量によって与えられる。
バッファ加算点における平均電圧は、センサーが正常に動作している場合にvcmでなければならない。板と板の間にショートが発生する場合、電圧はGNDとVDDとの間でトグルする。これは、vcm±Vtの基準レベルを使用するコンパレータと単純なローパスフィルタを組み合わせたものにより検出されうる。これは、さらに、GND又はVDDへの感知入力のショートをも検出できる。
図43は、センサーの要件を決定するためのセンサー等価回路を例示している。
8.4 較正手順
必要なデシメーション係数及び対応するデシメータシフトが、最初に設定されなければならない。ADCオフセットは、0に設定されなければならない。動作モードは両方とも、利得とオフセット誤差を取り出すために2点較正を必要とする。500gmの1つの較正済みの力のみが適用される必要がある。

Ccanのステップサイズは、約20fFとなる可能性が高く、これは、42gmの力変化を表す。ペンダウン閾値が正確であるように、Ccanの調整とADCオフセットの組合せが使用されなければならない。1/Cの動作の場合、利得較正係数を再計算する必要がある。再計算しないと、Ccanのステップサイズの結果、利得誤差は10%となる(許容可能である場合がある)。
AD7745の干渉信号に対する耐性を評価するためにいくつかの測定が行われた。不要信号が、39pFのキャパシタを介して、センサーキャパシタの出力側であるCIN1ピンに注入された。このキャパシタの追加は、測定されるセンサーキャパシタが信号発生器の出力インピーダンスを介してグラウンドに接続されているため、測定されるセンサーキャパシタに及ぼす影響は無視できるくらい小さい。センサー静電容量は、大部分約60fFの寄生容量である。
8.5.1 観察結果
・2MHzより上では、注入信号は、測定静電容量を下げる。
・1MHzより下では、注入信号は、測定静電容量を上げる。
・1MHzから2MHzの間では、周波数と振幅に応じて、静電容量誤差はいずれの方向にも進みうる。
・励起周波数の高調波に近い周波数の場合、感度は最大となる(これらは、通過帯域へエイリアスされる)。
・チョップイネーブルが選択されている場合、耐性は、約3倍高まる。最大出力サンプリングレートは、49.8Hzであった。
これらの測定は、容量近接検出器の機械式モックアップを使用して行われた。センサーの寄生容量をオフセットするために、CAPDACAが最大値16.87pFに設定された。約0.75pFの静電容量変化が、直線領域において観察され、範囲の末端で粘着テープを誘電体として使用すると、1.75pFであった。90Hzのサンプリング及び±VDD/2の励起により、ノイズレベルは、「ペンアップ」で1000個のサンプルを使って、0.00036pFrms及び0.0032pFpk−pkと測定された。
本発明のシグマ/デルタ静電容量インターフェース構成は、特にネットページ感知デバイスのペン先に対する、力感知の問題に対する確実な解決策をもたらす。上述の構成には、外力に正比例するコンバータ出力を発生することを利用し、コンバータ出力からの力の計算におけるハードウェア除算を回避し、力の範囲全体にわたって一定の精度を維持し、コンバータの全範囲を使用するという利点がある。
・センサーキャパシタへの駆動(励起)が低インピーダンスであり、電圧ピックアップの耐性がある
・センサーキャパシタは仮想アースを駆動し、電圧ピックアップ耐性がある
・センサーキャパシタの両側においてグラウンドへの寄生容量に対する許容差が高い
・能動的なガードが不要である
・1/Cに比例する出力を発生するように設計されうる(Cが大きくなると出力を圧縮し、逆に、Cの小さな値に対し十分な分解能をもたらす)
・RF(>10MHz)誘導電圧に対する耐性が良好である
・正確なクロックを必要としない
・正確な電圧基準を必要とせず、したがって、最大励起±VDD/2が使用されうる
・シグマ/デルタ変換の通常の利点を活かせる
・消費電力を十分に低くできる場合(プロセッサのスリープモード)、デジタル領域においてペンダウンオフセットを適用することができる
・サンプリングレートは、不要信号除去を改善するためにプロセッサがオンであるときに高められる。

- 基材とインタラクションを行うための感知デバイスであって、
当該感知デバイスが前記基材とインタラクションを行っているかどうかを検出するための力センサーと、
前記基材上に配置されている符号化データを感知するためのイメージセンサーと、
を備え、
前記力センサーが容量センサー回路を備え、
前記容量センサー回路には、
前記容量センサー回路の出力が1/Csenに比例するように配列された可変静電容量Csenを有するセンサーキャパシタ、が組み込まれている、
感知デバイス。 - 前記感知された符号化データを使用してインタラクションデータを生成するように構成されたプロセッサをさらに備える請求項1に記載の感知デバイス。
- 前記感知デバイスが前記基材とインタラクションを行っていることを前記力センサーが検出したときのみ、前記イメージセンサーが前記符号化データを感知するように構成されている請求項1に記載の感知デバイス。
- ペン先又はスタイラスを持たないクリッカー、
ノンマーキングスタイラスを有するポインタ、及び
マーキング用ペン先を有するペン
を含む群から選択される請求項1に記載の感知デバイス。 - 前記センサーキャパシタは、1つの固定された板と1つの移動可能な板とを有する平行板キャパシタ、である請求項1に記載の感知デバイス。
