Abstract
【解決手段】酸化チタンと、4価のレニウムを含むレニウム化合物と、を含む光触媒を使用し、レニウム化合物が、ヘキサクロロレニウム(IV)酸イオン([ReIVCl6]2−)を含み、また、酸化チタンが、カチオン性の有機シランカップリング剤によって予め処理されている光触媒を使用する。

Description
光触媒のエネルギー源として太陽光線や室内光に多く存在する可視光が利用可能になれば、反応活性が強化され、さまざまな場所での光触媒の利用が可能となる。そこで、可視光の照射により光触媒機能を発揮する材料の開発が進められている。
1972年に酸化チタンを光触媒に用いることで紫外光照射により水から水素が発生することが報告されて以来(例えば、非特許文献1参照)、太陽光(特に可視光)による水の分解反応に対する様々な触媒材料が検討されている。
従って、本発明の目的は、可視光(特に、波長400nm〜800nmの光)の照射により高い効率で水から水素を発生させることができる光触媒及び水素の製造方法を提供することである。
即ち、前記課題を解決するための具体的手段は以下のとおりである。
<2> 前記レニウム化合物が、ヘキサクロロレニウム(IV)酸イオン([ReIVCl6]2−)を含むことを特徴とする<1>記載の光触媒である。
<3> 前記酸化チタンが、カチオン性有機シランカップリング剤によって処理されていることを特徴とする<1>又は<2>記載の光触媒である。
<5> 水と接触している<1>〜<3>のいずれか1つ記載の光触媒に、波長400nm以上の光を照射する処理を含む水素の製造方法である。
<6> 前記光の照射は、電子供与体の存在下で行うことを特徴とする<5>記載の水素の製造方法である。
本発明の光触媒は、酸化チタンと、4価のレニウムを含むレニウム化合物と、を含む。
光触媒を上記本発明の構成とすることにより、可視光(特に、波長400nm〜800nmの光)の照射により高い効率で水から水素を発生させることができる。
なお、本発明において「可視光」とは、波長380nm〜800nmの光を指す。
また、前記レニウム化合物としては、例えば、4価のレニウムを含むハロゲン化物又は酸化物等を用いることができる。
上記の中でも、水素の発生効率をより向上させる観点からは、4価のレニウムを含むハロゲン化物イオン又はその塩が好ましく、ヘキサクロロレニウム(IV)酸イオン([ReIVCl6]2−)又はその塩がより好ましい。
ここで、カチオン性有機シランカップリング剤は、アンモニウム基等のカチオン性の官能基を有する有機シランカップリング剤を指す。
カチオン性有機シランカップリング剤の具体例としては、N−トリメトキシシリルプロピル−N,N,N−トリメチルアンモニウムクロライド、N,N−ジデシル−N−メチル−N−(3−トリメトキシシリルプロピル)アンモニウムクロライド、オクタデシルジメチル(3−トリメトキシシリルプロピル)アンモニウムクロライド、テトラデシルジメチル(3−トリメトキシシリルプロピル)アンモニウムクロライド、N−(トリメトキシシリルエチル)ベンジル−N,N,N−トリメチルアンモニウムクロライド、等が挙げられる。
中でも、前記レニウム化合物の脱離を抑制する観点からは、前記レニウム化合物が酸化チタンに担持された形態であることが好ましい。
従って、本発明の光触媒は、すでに報告されている太陽光(主に可視光)による水からの水素製造用光触媒(例えば、NEDO技術情報データベースNo.100008278、「光触媒の技術ロードマップ作成に関する調査研究」報告書、平成18年6月、参照)に比べ、コスト面、取り扱い易さ、耐久性の面で優れている。
また、本発明の光触媒は、例えば、シリカ、アルミナ、活性炭、ゼオライトなどの、光触媒作用を持たない担体または吸着剤に担持されていてもよい。
粒子状の光触媒は、1nm程度の微粒子から数mm程度の造粒体までを包含し、その大きさ、形態などは特に限定されない。
シート状、皮膜状、繊維状などの任意の形に成形する場合、本発明の光触媒は、バインダーを含有することが好ましい。バインダーの含有によって、その皮膜の厚みや繊維径を増したり、また膜や繊維の強度、加工性などを増大させることが可能である。バインダーに代えて、または加えて、成形助剤を使用してもよい。
本発明の光触媒機能性部材は、基材上に、前記本発明の光触媒を含む光触媒層(皮膜状に形成された光触媒を含む)を有する。
本発明の光触媒機能性部材は、必要に応じその他の層を有していてもよい。
但し、光触媒の凝集を抑制する観点からは、光触媒の粒子を溶媒中で分散処理をして分散液を調製し、この分散液を用いてコーティング液を調製することが好ましい。このようにしてコーティング液を調整することにより、より薄く、より均質な光触媒層を形成することが可能となり、皮膜特性や光触媒活性が大幅に向上する。
本発明の光触媒又は光触媒機能性部材は、光触媒と分解対象である水とを接触でき、かつ、水に接触している光触媒に可視光を照射できる環境下で使用することができる。
分解対象である水は、液体であっても気体(水蒸気)であってもよい。
また、前記液体である水は、純水であることに限定されず、不純物を含む溶液、コロイド、又は懸濁液を用いてもよいし、河川、湖沼、海などの水を用いてもよい。
光源は、400nm以上(より好ましくは400nm〜800nm)の光を含むものが好ましく、例えば、太陽光、蛍光灯、ハロゲンランプ、ブラックライト、キセノンランプ、水銀ランプなどを使用できる。
まず、光透過性部材(例えば、可視光の透過率が90%以上のガラス、プラスチック、等)により密閉系の反応系を形成し、この反応系内に本発明の光触媒又は光触媒機能性部材を配置する。次に、反応系内に水(液体又は気体)を導入し、光触媒と水とを接触させる。次に、水と接触している光触媒に対し、前記光透過性部材(及び必要に応じ水)を介して波長400nm以上(好ましくは波長400nm〜800nm)の光を照射することにより、水素を発生させることができる。
ここで、電子供与体(犠牲剤)としては特に限定はなく、ヨウ素イオン等のハロゲンイオンや、各種有機分子を用いることができる。
また、本発明において、酸化チタンをカチオン性有機シランカップリング剤で処理した場合には、カチオン性有機シランカップリング剤に由来する部位が電子供与体(犠牲剤)の役割を果たすことができる。
本発明の水素の製造方法は、水と接触している本発明の光触媒(本発明の光触媒機能性部材中の光触媒を含む。以下同じ)に、波長400nm以上の光(以下、単に「光」ともいう)を照射する処理を含む。
ここで、光は直接光触媒に照射してもよいし、光透過性の部材や分解対象である水を介して照射してもよい。
水素の製造方法を前記本発明の構成とすることにより、高い効率で水から水素を発生させることができる。
例えば、まず水と光触媒とを接触させる処理Aを行い、水と接触している光触媒に光を照射する処理Bを行ってもよいし、まず光触媒に光を照射する処理Bを行い、光が照射されている光触媒に水を接触させる処理Aを行ってもよい。また、処理Aと処理Bとを同時に開始してもよい。
なお、開始順序と同様に、前記処理A及び処理Bの終了順序についても特に限定はない。
電子供与体は、光触媒の構造の一部に含まれていてもよいし、反応系における光触媒以外の部分(例えば、分解対象である水)に含まれていてもよい。例えば、分解対象の水として海水を用いる場合には、電子供与体として、海水中に含まれるヨウ素イオン等のハロゲンイオンや、各種有機分子を用いることができる。
光照射に用いる光源やその他の具体的形態については、光触媒の使用方法として既に説明したとおりである。
≪試料の作製≫
<試料1([ReIVCl6]2−−grafted TiO2)の作製>
恒温乾燥機(温度50℃)に一晩放置して乾燥させた酸化チタン(アナターゼ型酸化チタン207-11121:和光純薬工業(株)製)2.0gを、メタノール160ml中に分散させた。
得られた分散液に、カチオン性有機シランカップリング剤(N−トリメトキシシリルプロピル−N,N,N−トリメチルアンモニウムクロライド〔(MeO)3Si(CH2)3N(CH3)3Cl〕;和光純薬工業(株)製)0.556ml(1mmol)を加え、85℃で6時間還流した。得られた反応物をメンブランフィルター(JG0.2μm)にて濾過して集め、25mlのメタノールで3回洗浄した後、恒温乾燥機(温度50℃)に一晩放置して乾燥させた。
以上により、表面がカチオン性有機シランカップリング剤で処理された酸化チタン(以下、「TiO2−N+」ともいう)を得た。
即ち、図1に示すように、「TiO2−N+」の表面は、シランカップリング剤中の珪素原子の3つの結合手それぞれが、酸化チタン中の異なる酸素原子に結合した構造となっている(以下、この構造を、「{TiO2}n[≡Si(CH2)3N(CH3)3Cl];nは正の整数を表す」と表記することがある)。
得られた分散液に、K2[ReIVCl6](3.20mg、6.71μmol)を加え、25℃で一晩攪拌した。
攪拌後の分散液から固体試料を、メンブランフィルター(JG0.2μm)にて濾過して集め、25mlのメタノールで3回洗浄した後、更に純水で洗浄し、恒温乾燥機(温度50℃)に一晩放置して乾燥させた。
以上により、カチオン性有機シランカップリング剤で処理された酸化チタンに[ReIVCl6]2−が担持された構造である試料1([ReIVCl6]2−−grafted TiO2)を得た。
また、上記K2[ReIVCl6]を加えた後の純水洗浄時の濾液には[ReIVCl6]2−が溶出した形跡は見られなかったため、加えた[ReIVCl6]2−の全てが酸化チタンに担持されていることが確認された。以上より、試料1中における[ReIVCl6]2−の量は、酸化チタン1g当たり4.4μmolとなっていることが確認された。
また、試料1([ReIVCl6]2−−grafted TiO2)について、紫外可視吸収スペクトルを測定したところ、紫外領域だけでなく可視領域(特に、波長400nm以上の領域)にも吸収を示していた。
試料1の作製において、K2[ReIVCl6](3.20mg、6.71μmol)の代わりに、以下のようにして合成した化合物K−1(レニウム(V)置換ポリ酸塩)(1.0g、0.10mmol)を用いた以外は試料1の作製と同様にして比較用の試料2(1−grafted TiO2)を作製した。
K2ReCl6(0.701g、1.47mmol)とK10[α2−P2W17O61]・17H2O(7.14g、1.47mmol)とを純水80mlに加え、30分間還流した。ここで、上記K2ReCl6のみ溶解させた溶液の色は緑色であったが、K10[α2−P2W17O61]・17H2Oを加えた後は青色に変化した。そしてその後の還流により、溶液の色は、青色から濃黒紫色へ変化した。
得られた濃黒紫色溶液をロータリーエバボレーター(50℃)で蒸発乾固させた(黒紫色粉体析出)。
得られた黒紫色紛体をできるだけ少量の熱水(80℃、ca.9ml)に溶解させた(濃黒紫色溶液)。この溶液を室温(25℃)まで放冷後、冷蔵庫(4℃)に一昼夜(約12時間)放置した(黒紫色粉体析出)。析出した黒紫色紛体をメンブランフィルター(JG0.2μm)で回収し、エタノール20ml×3回、ジエチルエーテル30ml×3回で洗浄した後、2時間、凍結乾燥することにより、化合物K−1を6.38g得た(収率89.7%)。
得られた化合物K−1について、元素分析、TG/DTA、IR、31P NMR、UV−visの各分析を行い、化合物K−1の詳細な構造を解析した。
その結果、化合物K−1は、K14[O{ReV(OH)(α2−P2W17O61)}2]・21H2Oであることがわかった。
各分析の結果を以下に示す。
上記「Found」は実測値を、上記「calcd」は理論値を示す。
分析前に試料を、室温、1.33×10−1Pa〜1.33×10−2Paの条件下で乾燥させる間に2.8%の質量の減少が観測された。この質量の減少量は、15〜16分子の水分子に相当する。
・IR(KBr):1091cm−1、1018cm−1、954cm−1、907cm−1、787cm−1、527cm−1
・31P NMR(25℃、D2O、25%H3PO4):δ−12.38、−13.39
・31P NMR(25℃、D2O、85%H3PO4):δ−12.06、−13.05
・UV−vis吸収(in water,1.00´10−6M−1 and 1.00´10−4M−1):λ254nm(ε9.39´104M−1cm−1),λ298nm(ε6.28´104M−1cm−1),λ496nm(ε6.61´103M−1cm−1),λ737nm(ε4.02´103M−1cm−1)
・ESRスペクトル:silent
試料1の作製で得られた「TiO2−N+」1.5gを、45mlの純水(25℃)に10分間分散させた。
得られた分散液に、上記化合物K−1(1.0g、0.10mmol)を加え、25℃で一晩攪拌した。
攪拌後の分散液から固体試料を、メンブランフィルター(JG0.2μm)にて濾過して集め、25mlのメタノールで3回洗浄した後、恒温乾燥機(温度50℃)に一晩放置して乾燥させた。
以上により、比較用の試料2を得た。
元素分析の結果、試料2中における化合物K−1由来の部位(K7[O{Re(OH)(α2−P2W17O61)}2]7−)の量は、酸化チタン1g当たり2.2μmolであった。また、試料2中における[≡Si(CH2)3N(CH3)3Cl]の量は、酸化チタン1g当たり31.7μmolであった。
また、元素分析の結果、試料2中におけるカリウム原子の比率は0.032%であった。この結果、試料2の構造は、{TiO2}5500[≡Si(CH2)3N(CH3)3Cl]7[≡Si(CH2)3N+(CH3)3]7(K7[O{Re(OH)(α2−P2W17O61)}2]7−)であることがわかった。
即ち、試料2では、1分子の化合物K−1に含まれる14個のカリウムイオンのうち7個が、酸化チタンを修飾するカチオン性基([≡Si(CH2)3N+(CH3)3])7基に置き換わった構造となっている。
なお、本明細書中では、試料2に含まれるポリオキソアニオン[O{Re(OH)(α2−P2W17O61)}2]m−(mは1〜14を表す)を「1」で表し、試料2全体を「1−grafted TiO2」と表記することがある。
得られた試料2(1−grafted TiO2)について、DRUV−visスペクトルを測定したところ、496nm及び751nmに鋭いバンドが観測された。
化合物K−1(5.6μmol)とシランカップリング剤による処理を施していない酸化チタン1.0gとを混合して、比較用の試料3(「K−1+TiO2」混合物)を得た。
シランカップリング剤による処理を施していない酸化チタンを、比較用の試料4とした。
試料1の作製で説明したシランカップリング剤によって処理された酸化チタンを、比較用の試料5(TiO2−N+)とした。
なお、試料6中における化合物K−1由来の部位の量は、試料1g当たり2.2μmolであり、非晶質酸化ケイ素1g当たり0.055μmolである。
上記で得られた試料1を用い、25℃の環境下にて、以下のようにして水蒸気から水素を製造した。
まず、試料1(500mg)をガラス容器に入れ、このガラス容器をパイレックス(登録商標)製の閉鎖系循環装置に接続し、反応系(閉鎖系)とした(体積238.8ml)。
反応系を排気した後、水蒸気(2.7kPa;257μmol)を導入し、試料1に対し、可視光領域の光(波長400nm以上の光)を一定時間(表1に示す時間)照射した。ここで、可視光領域の光の照射は、400nm未満の波長をカットするためのフィルターを介し、500Wのキセノンランプを照射することにより行った。
光照射後、反応系内の反応生成物をガスクロマトグラフィーにより分析し、試料1g当たりの水素の発生量を測定した。
具体的には、試料1の水素発生量及び発生速度は、酸化チタンと5価のレニウムを含むレニウム化合物とを含む光触媒である試料2の水素発生量及び発生速度と比較して著しく向上した(光照射時間5時間のときで約2.7倍であった)。
Claims (6)
- 酸化チタンと、4価のレニウムを含むレニウム化合物と、を含む光触媒。
- 前記レニウム化合物が、ヘキサクロロレニウム(IV)酸イオン([ReIVCl6]2−)を含むことを特徴とする請求項1記載の光触媒。
- 前記酸化チタンが、カチオン性有機シランカップリング剤によって処理されていることを特徴とする請求項1又は請求項2記載の光触媒。
- 基材上に、請求項1〜請求項3のいずれか1項記載の光触媒を含む光触媒層を有する光触媒機能性部材。
- 水と接触している請求項1〜請求項3のいずれか1項記載の光触媒に、波長400nm以上の光を照射する処理を含む水素の製造方法。
- 前記光の照射は、電子供与体の存在下で行うことを特徴とする請求項5記載の水素の製造方法。
