【解決手段】本発明は、外光センサ9を配置して減少した開口率による色相の変化を色相補正機構79R、79Bで補正する。

Description
(1−1)全体構成(図2〜図6)
図2(A)及び(B)は、本発明の実施例1の表示装置である携帯電話を示す平面図である。図2(A)は、携帯電話を開いた状態を示す図であり、図2(B)は、携帯電話41を折り畳んだ状態を示す図である。この携帯電話41は、上側筐体部42、下側筐体部43、下側筐体部43に対して上側筐体部42を折り畳み可能に連結する連結部44により構成される。携帯電話41は、折り畳んだ状態で各種の情報をユーザーに通知可能に上側筐体部42の外側に副の表示部45が設けられる。また携帯電話41は、開いた状態で各種の情報を通知可能に、上側筐体部42の内側に主の表示部46が設けられる。携帯電話41は、この主及び副の表示部46及び45に本発明の構成が適用される。
ところで図7に示すように、有効画素領域2に外光センサ9を設けると、外光センサ9を配置したサブ画素で開口の面積(開口率)が低下し、輝度値が不足することになる。その結果、当該サブ画素により構成されるカラー画像の1画素で色相が変化し、この液晶表示パネル71では画質が劣化することになる。そこでこの実施例の液晶表示装置70は、外光センサ9を配置したことによる局所的な色相の変化を補正する色相補正機構が設けられる。
以上の構成において、この表示装置70(図7)では、輝度調整回路72によりバックライト装置73の一次光源74が駆動され、この一次光源74から出射される光が導光板75を介して液晶表示パネル71に供給される。液晶表示パネル71では、画像データ等に応じて各画素の階調が設定され、バックライト装置73から各画素に供給される光がこの各画素に設定された階調に応じて空間変調され、これにより所望の画像を表示することができる。
以上の構成によれば、外光センサを配置して減少した開口率による色相の変化を色相補正機構により補正することにより、有効画素領域内に外光光量検出用の外光センサを設ける場合にあっても、画質の劣化を有効に回避することができる。
Claims (11)
- サブ画素をマトリックス状に配置した有効画素領域で所望の画像を表示し、
外光を受光して、前記画像の輝度調整用の外光光量検出結果を出力する外光センサが、前記有効画素領域の所定のサブ画素に設けられ、
前記外光センサを前記所定のサブ画素に配置したことによる局所的な色相の変化を補正する色相補正機構を有する
表示装置。 - 前記色相補正機構が、
前記所定のサブ画素と共にカラー画像の1画素を構成する他のサブ画素の開口を制限する開口制限機構である
請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記開口制限機構が、
前記他のサブ画素の開口を部分的に遮光する遮光部である
請求項2に記載の表示装置。 - 前記所定のサブ画素が、
前記有効画素領域の最外周の緑色のサブ画素である
請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記所定のサブ画素が、
前記有効画素領域の最外周の緑色のサブ画素である
請求項3に記載の表示装置。 - 前記有効画素領域の最外周の緑色のサブ画素であって、前記外光センサを配置していない緑色のサブ画素と、前記外光センサを配置していない緑色のサブ画素に対応する他のサブ画素とに、開口を部分的に遮光する遮光部が形成された
請求項5に記載の表示装置。 - 前記色相補正機構は、
前記所定のサブ画素とは異なるサブ画素に比して、前記所定のサブ画素の画素電圧を大振幅化して前記色相の変化を補正する
請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記色相補正機構は、
前記異なるサブ画素に比して、保持容量の増大により前記画素電圧を大振幅化する
請求項7に記載の表示装置。 - 前記色相補正機構は、
前記異なるサブ画素に比して、信号線の駆動信号の大振幅化により前記画素電圧を大振幅化する
請求項7に記載の表示装置。 - サブ画素をマトリックス状に配置した有効画素領域で所望の画像を表示する表示装置の輝度調整方法において、
前記有効画素領域の所定のサブ画素に設けられた外光センサにより外光を受光し、前記画像の輝度調整用の外光光量検出結果を出力する外光受光ステップと、
前記外光光量検出結果に基づいて、前記画像の輝度を調整する輝度調整ステップと、
色相補正機構により、前記外光センサを前記所定のサブ画素に配置したことによる局所的な色相の変化を補正する色相補正ステップとを有する
表示装置の輝度調整方法。 - サブ画素をマトリックス状に配置した有効画素領域で所望の画像を表示し、
外光を受光して外光光量検出結果を出力する外光センサが、前記有効画素領域の所定のサブ画素に設けられ、
前記外光センサを前記所定のサブ画素に配置したことによる局所的な色相の変化を補正する色相補正機構を有する
表示装置。
