Abstract
【解決手段】非透光性の電極と発光層との間に光吸収層を有することで外光反射を低減する。光吸収層としては、有機化合物と金属酸化物とを含む層にハロゲン原子を添加することで形成される層を用いる。また、発光素子を駆動するための薄膜トランジスタが形成されている領域および配線が形成されている領域等の上にも光吸収層を形成することで、TFTが形成されている側の反対側から光を外部に取り出す構造において、外光反射を低減することができる。

Description
本実施の形態では、外部から発光素子へ入射した外光の反射を低下させる構成を有する発光素子について説明する。
本実施の形態では実施の形態1とは異なる構成の発光素子について説明する。本実施の形態では、陰極として機能する電極と接するように、光吸収層を設けた発光素子について、図3を用いて説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の発光素子を有する発光装置について説明する。
本実施の形態では、発光素子への電流の供給を制御するトランジスタ(駆動用トランジスタと記す)がp型TFTの場合における、画素の断面構造について説明する。なお本実施の形態では、第1の電極が陽極、第2の電極が陰極の場合について説明する。

前記有機化合物は、正孔輸送性材料であることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれか一において、
前記ハロゲン原子は、フッ素であることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項6のいずれか一項に記載の発光素子を有する発光装置。
- 請求項1乃至請求項6のいずれか一項に記載の発光素子を有し、
前記発光素子は、薄膜トランジスタに電気的に接続されており、
前記光吸収層は、前記薄膜トランジスタの上部にも形成されていることを特徴とする発光装置。 - 請求項7または請求項8に記載の発光装置を有する電子機器。
- 非透光性の第1の電極を形成する工程と、
共蒸着法により金属酸化物と有機化合物とを含む膜を形成し、
前記金属酸化物と有機化合物とを含む膜に、ハロゲン原子を添加し、光吸収層を形成する工程と、
発光層を形成する工程と、
透光性の第2の電極を形成する工程と、を有することを特徴とする発光装置の作製方法。 - 透光性の第1の電極を形成する工程と、
発光層を形成する工程と、
共蒸着法により金属酸化物と有機化合物とを含む膜を形成し、
前記金属酸化物と有機化合物とを含む膜に、ハロゲン原子を添加し、光吸収層を形成する工程と、
非透光性の第2の電極を形成する工程と、を有することを特徴とする発光装置の作製方法。 - 請求項10または請求項11において、
前記第1の電極は、薄膜トランジスタと電気的に接続されるように形成し、
前記光吸収層は、前記薄膜トランジスタの上部にも形成することを特徴とする発光装置の作製方法。 - 請求項10乃至請求項12のいずれか一において、
前記ハロゲン原子は、イオン注入法により添加されることを特徴とする発光装置の作製方法。
