Claims (6)
- ピストン(3)とシリンダヘッド(5)との間に燃焼空間(4)が形成される少なくとも1つのシリンダ(2)と、
前記燃焼空間(4)内に配置される点火プラグ(7)と、
前記シリンダヘッド(5)内に配置され、燃料を中空の円錐体(8)の形で前記燃焼空間(4)内に噴射する外向きに開口した噴射ノズル(11)を有し、
前記点火プラグ(7)は、前記噴射ノズルによって生成される前記中空燃料円錐体(8)の円周表面(9)の外側に配置され、
前記噴射された燃料の噴射の円周表面(9)から燃料の境界渦(10)が形成され、前記点火プラグ(7)の電極(12)が該境界渦(10)の中に突き出るように配置された内燃機関(1)において、
前記シリンダ(2)は直径(D)シリンダ内径(2a)を有し、
該直径(D)の寸法は、内燃機関(1)の点火時点において、前記燃料境界渦(10)の平均直径(dmR)と前記直径(D)との比(dmR/D)が、0.08〜0.2の範囲内、特に0.1〜0.12の範囲内にあるように定められることを特徴とする内燃機関。 - 前記点火時点において、前記境界渦(10)の平均直径(dmR)と前記境界渦の中心距離(aR)との比(dmR/aR)が、0.25〜1.5の範囲内、好ましくは0.5〜1.1の範囲内にあることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の内燃機関。
- 前記中空の燃料円錐体(8)が、前記点火時点においてドーナツ形の渦の直径(dR)を有し、該ドーナツ形の渦の直径(dR)と前記シリンダ内径の直径(D)との比(dR/D)が、0.2〜0.4の範囲内、又は0.25〜0.35の範囲内にあることを特徴とする請求項1あるいは2に記載の内燃機関。
- 前記中空の燃料円錐体(8)が燃料雲の最大直径(dS)を有し、前記点火時点において、該最大直径(dS)と前記シリンダ内径の直径(D)との比(dS/D)が、0.35〜0.65の範囲内、又は0.45〜0.55の範囲内にあることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の内燃機関。
- 前記ピストン(3)が窪み直径(dm)を有する窪み(3a)を備え、前記点火時点において、前記燃料雲の最大直径(dS)と該窪み直径(dm)との比(dS/dm)が、0.5〜1.5の間、又は0.8〜1.2の間にあることを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の内燃機関。
- 前記点火時点において、前記中空の燃料円錐体(8)の最大進入深さ(ES)と前記シリンダ内径の直径(D)との比(ES/D)が、0.1〜0.5、又は0.2〜0.3になることを特徴とする請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載の内燃機関。
