Abstract
【解決手段】胴部2の外周に4本の軸部3が十字状に配置されており、この4本の軸部3の軸心を含む仮想面に対し垂直な方向に深さを有する凹部7が前記胴部2に形成されてなる十字軸部材1。前記凹部7内に、前記仮想面において前記軸部3の軸心に対して略45°の角度をなす方向に沿った畝状肉盛部8が4等配されている。

Description
一方、前記胴部の凹部を埋めることで、静強度を増大させることが可能であるが、この場合大幅な重量増加となり、前述した軽量化の要請に反することになる。
前記凹部内に、前記仮想面において前記軸部の軸心に対して略45°の角度をなす方向に沿った畝状肉盛部が4等配されていることを特徴としている。
より詳細には、十字軸部材の強度には疲労強度と静強度とが含まれるが、このうち疲労強度の方は、応力で決まるため、軸部のネック形状等で調整することが可能である。一方、静強度の方は、応力の依存度が低く、軸部のサイズ(直径)や胴部のボリューム(胴部の断面積)で決まるため、静強度を増大させるためには十字軸部材、とりわけ胴部の重量を増加させることが必要となる。これに関し本発明者は、種々検討を重ねた結果、十字軸部材の静強度向上に寄与しているのは、胴部全体のボリュームではなく、軸部の軸心に対して略45°の角度をなす方向における胴部断面積の大きさであることを見出した。そして、軸部の軸心に対して略45°の角度をなす方向に沿った畝状肉盛部を胴部凹部内に4等配することで、最小限の重量増加によって十字軸部材の静強度を大幅に向上させることができた。特に、前記畝状肉盛部の高さを、凹部を囲む胴部の淵部であって当該畝状肉盛部に繋がる淵部の高さと同じにすることにより、当該凹部を全て埋めたものと同等の静強度を確保することができる。
図1は、本発明の一実施の形態に係る十字軸部材1を備えた十字軸継手Cの一部断面正面図である。この十字軸継手Cは、胴部2の外周に4本の軸部3が十字状に配置された十字軸部材1と、前記各軸部3周りに配設された転動体としての複数の円筒ころ4と、この円筒ころ4を介して前記各軸部3に対して相対回転自在に取り付けられた軸受カップ5とを備えている。なお、図1では、分かり易くするために前記軸受カップ5及び後述するヨーク12だけを断面で示している。

- 胴部の外周に4本の軸部が十字状に配置されており、この4本の軸部の軸心を含む仮想面に対し垂直な方向に深さを有する凹部が前記胴部に形成されてなる十字軸部材であって、
前記凹部内に、前記仮想面において前記軸部の軸心に対して略45°の角度をなす方向に沿った畝状肉盛部が4等配されていることを特徴とする十字軸部材。
