Claims (9)

  1. 1つ以上の複数の基地局の1つ以上の複数のセクタからの順方向リンク信号の品質を測定し、
    各セクタからの順方向リンク信号の質が高い方の閾値を上回るときに1以上の基地局のセクタの1つ以上をアクティブセットに追加し、
    各セクタからの順方向リンク信号の質が低い方の閾値を上回り、そのセクタの基地局の少なくとも1つの他のセクタがアクティブセット内にあるときに、1つまたは複数の基地局のセクタの1つまたは複数をアクティブセットに追加する、
    ことを備える1以上のセクタに分けられた基地局から移動局への高速データ伝送のための方法。
  2. 移動局のアクティブセット内に含まれるそれらの基地局で移動局の順方向トラヒックデータのデータ待ち行列を維持するプロセッサと、
    を備える、複数の基地局と1つの移動局に通信可能に接続されるシステムコントローラであって、
    システムコントローラが2以上の基地局にそれらのそれぞれの順方向トラヒックチャネルで同時にデータを送信するように命令するメッセージを受信し、それぞれの基地局に相応して命令するシステムコントローラ。
  3. 基地局コントローラと、複数の他の基地局と、1以上の複数移動局に通信可能に接続される基地局であって、
    順方向トラヒックチャネルを備えるパイロット及びコードチャネルを送信するための送信機と、
    移動局からメッセージを受信する受信機とを備え、
    基地局が、その順方向トラヒックチャネルでデータを送信するようにそれに命令するメッセージを受信し、メッセージに応えて送信し、
    基地局が、2以上の基地局にそれらのそれぞれの順方向トラヒックチャネルで同時に送信するように命令するメッセージを移動局から受信し、基地局コントローラに送達し、
    基地局が基地局コントローラの指示を受けて相応して送信する基地局。
  4. 1つ以上の複数の基地局の1つ以上の複数のセクタからの順方向リンク信号の品質を測定するための手段、
    各セクタからの順方向リンク信号の質が高い方の閾値を上回るときに1以上の基地局のセクタの1つ以上をアクティブセットに追加するための手段、
    各セクタからの順方向リンク信号の質が低い方の閾値を上回り、そのセクタの基地局の少なくとも1つの他のセクタがアクティブセット内にあるときに、1つまたは複数の基地局のセクタの1つまたは複数をアクティブセットに追加するための手段、
    ことを備える1以上のセクタに分けられた基地局から移動局へのデータ伝送のための装置。
  5. その測定された順方向リンク信号品質が特定の基準を満たすときに、タイムスロットの期間に最高の測定された順方向リンク信号の品質を有するセクタから移動局に送信するための手段、
    最高の測定された順方向リンク信号の品質が特定の基準を満たさないときに、タイムスロットの間にソフトハンドオフで1つ以上のセクタから移動局に送信するための手段、
    をさらに備える請求項4記載の装置。
  6. 高い方の閾値が、現在アクティブセット内にあるセクタからの順方向リンク信号の品質に最小の最低限の改善要因を追加することにより決定される請求項4記載の装置。
  7. 低い方の閾値が、現在アクティブセット内にあるセクタからの順方向リンク信号の品質に最小の最低限の改善要因を追加することにより決定される請求項4記載の装置。
  8. そのセクタからの順方向リンク信号が削除閾値に該当するときにアクティブセットからセクタを削除することをさらに備える請求項4記載の装置。
  9. 1つの基地局からの複数のセクタがアクティブセット内にあるときに削除閾値は低い方の閾値であり、セクタがアクティブセット内のその基地局の唯一のセクタであるときに削除閾値は高い方の閾値である請求項4記載の装置。
