Abstract
【解決手段】紙のような処理に適した低電力高解像度のディスプレイを備えたマルチレイヤ入出力装置は、第1表示層、第2表示層、入力層及び制御論理部を含む。第1表示層は低電力ディスプレイである。第2表示層は、第1層の上に設けられた高速で透明なディスプレイである。入力層はユーザのしぐさや入力の動きを検出する層である。制御論理部は第1表示層、第2表示層及び入力層に結合され、本発明方法に従ってそれらの動作を制御する。本発明方法は、第2表示層を選択的に操作し、入力層で検出した動きを表示する。所定の時点で、第2表示層に表示されていた情報は、第1表示層に移されそこで表示される。

Description
図3を参照するに、本発明によるマルチレイヤ入出力装置304の一実施例を含む装置302の例が示されている。この実施例では、装置302はタブレットパーソナルコンピュータのような携帯用コンピュータである。図3は装置302のブロック図を示し、その装置はマルチレイヤディスプレイ304を保持及び包囲する外部ハウジングを備えている。
更に、本発明は入出力装置として説明されるが、本発明は表示装置だけでもよいことを当業者は認識するであろう(その表示装置は、マウスタイプのコントローラのような何らかの他の組み込まれていない入力装置と協同する。)。
図6Aを参照するに、紙状のディスプレイに映像を表示する方法例が示されている。ステップ604では、静的な画像が第1の電気泳動表示層406に示される。ビデオ又は動く画像のリクエストが受信される(ステップ606)。ステップ608では、第2層404が活性化され、又は第2層に電力が与えられる。ステップ610では、ビデオ又は一連の画像は、第1層406上の第2層404に表示される。ステップ612では、ビデオが終わったときに、第2層404は非活性化される又は電源が切られ、再び透明になる。

Claims (20)
- 信号に応じて情報を表示することが可能な低電力ディスプレイを含み、情報が外側に表示される第1層と、
第2信号に応じて情報を表示する第2層と、
を有し、前記第2層は、選択的に透明になり、前記第1層の上に設けられ且つ前記第1層とは異なる表示特性を有する、情報を表示する装置。 - 前記第1層が、低電力の紙状のディスプレイである又は電子ペーパーディスプレイである請求項1記載の装置。
- 電源の入っていない状態では通常的に透明であるが、電源の入った状態では画素を個々に暗くすることができる材料で、前記第2層が形成されている請求項1記載の装置。
- ペンを用いた入力に応じて速やかなフィードバックをもたらすように、ディジタルインク画像の瞬時的な表示に備えて第2層が速やかに更新可能である請求項1記載の装置。
- 前記第2層が、エレクトロクロミックディスプレイ又は透明な有機発光ダイオード(OLED)ディスプレイである請求項1記載の装置。
- 動きを検出し、入力信号を生成する入力層を更に有する請求項1記載の装置。
- 前記入力層が、前記第2層の上に設けられる請求項8記載の装置。
- 前記入力層が、タッチセンサパネルである請求項1記載の装置。
- 前記第1層及び前記第2層の動作を制御する制御部を更に有し、該制御部は、前記第1層及び前記第2層に結合され、第1信号及び第2信号を用意する請求項1記載の装置。
- 入力信号を受信し、前記第1層による情報の表示を制御する前記第1信号と、前記第2層を選択的にアクティブにする前記第2信号とを出力する制御部を更に有し、該制御部は、前記第1層、前記第2層及び前記入力層に結合されている請求項8記載の装置。
- 前記制御部が、前記第1層で表示された情報を前記第2層で表示されるように転送する請求項10記載の装置。
- 前記第2層の前記異なる表示特性が、迅速に更新される特性である請求項1記載の装置。
- 前記第2層の前記異なる表示特性が、色を表示できる特性である請求項1記載の装置。
- 入力を受信するステップと、
前記入力に対応する情報を第2表示層で一時的に表示するステップと、
前記入力に対応する情報を第1表示層で表示するステップと、
を有するマルチレイヤ表示装置で情報を表示する方法。 - 前記情報を前記一時的に表示する前記ステップが、前記入力に対応する情報が前記第1表示層に表示されるまで実行される請求項14記載の方法。
- 前記情報を前記一時的に表示する前記ステップが、所定の期間にわたって実行される請求項14記載の方法。
- 前記情報を前記一時的に表示する前記ステップが、タッチセンサパネルが所定の期間にわたって触られなかった場合に実行される請求項14記載の方法。
- 前記入力がディジタルインクであり、前記情報を前記一時的に表示する前記ステップが、前記第2層から前記第1層へ前記ディジタルインクが転送されるまで実行される請求項14記載の方法。
- 前記第2層を非活性化するステップを更に有する請求項14記載の方法。
- 入力を受信するステップに先立って、前記第1層に他の情報を表示するステップを更に有する請求項14記載の方法。
