Description

アルカリ金属類は、周期表の1族に属する金属である。本明細書においては、「1族金属」又は「1族金属類」という用語は、本発明によるシリカゲル組成物に使用してもよいアルカリ金属及びアルカリ金属の合金を記載するために用いる。これらのアルカリ金属類には、ナトリウム(Na)、カリウム(K)ルビジウム(Rb)及びセシウム(Cs)が含まれる。これらのアルカリ金属の中でも、本発明によるシリカゲル組成物に使用するためにはナトリウムとカリウムが好ましく、特にナトリウムが好ましい。
シリカゲルは多孔質形態の非晶質シリカである。シリカゲルは、99%以上のSiO2として文献等に記載されているさらさらした粉末である。シリカゲルは容易に入手できる安価な物質である。シリカゲルの一般的な細孔体積及び表面積はそれぞれ約0.6〜約1.2cm3/g及び約300〜約750m2/gである。シリカゲルは一般に次のメッシュサイズ(mesh size)で入手することができる:3〜8、6〜16、14〜20、14〜42、30〜60、28〜200及び約325程度のメッシュサイズ。シリカゲルはその多孔性に起因して、多量の吸着物質を取り込むことができる。本発明によるシリカゲル組成物に使用されるシリカゲルとしては、50〜1000Åの孔径を有するものが好ましい。好ましくは、該孔径は100〜300Åの範囲にあってもよい。より好ましくは、シリカゲルの平均孔径は約150Åである。好ましいシリカゲルには、「ダビシル(Davisil)(登録商標)」のグレード646及び50である。これらの製品はいずれも30〜60メッシュの製品であり、この種の製品は化学品供給業者、例えば、アルドリッチ社等から入手してもよく、又、WRグレース社のダビソン化学部門から直接入手してもよい(該製品は、孔径が150Åで、メッシュサイズが30〜60の粒状純白物であって、指示薬は含有しない)。この種のシリカゲルの別の供給業者は、マルチソーブ社のイーグル化学部門である。
アルカリ金属又は適当な形態のこれらの等価物の利用能は化学工業及び水素の製造分野において依然として必要とされている。このような要請に応えるために、本発明は、シリカゲルとアルカリ金属若しくはアルカリ金属合金を含有する1族金属/シリカゲル組成物を提供する、本発明による組成物は、段階0、 I 、II 及び III の物質として記載される。これらの物質は、調製法と化学的反応性の点で相違する。これらの連続的な段階における各々の物質は、以下に説明する方法を利用することにより、直接的に調製してもよく、あるいは、先行する段階の物質から調製してもよい。段階0の物質は、例えば、NaとKの液状合金を用いて調製してもよい。即ち、該合金は等温条件下(好ましくは、室温又はこれよりも幾分高い温度)においてシリカゲル(多孔性SiO2)によって急激に吸収されて、親金属の還元能の大部分を保有する緩やかに凝集した粗密状態の黒色粉末を形成する。段階0の物質は、シリカゲルの孔内に吸収された中性の1族金属の小さなクラスター(cluster)を有すると考えられる。段階0の物質は発火性物質であるが、空気中での爆発性は1族の親金属に比べて低い。段階 I の物質は、段階0の物質を140℃で一夜加熱することによって調製してもよい。段階 I の物質は、乾燥空気中での安定性が不確定な緩やかな粗密状の黒色粉末である。段階 I の物質を400℃に加熱することによって、段階 II の物質が得られるが、該物質も緩やかな粗密状の黒色粉末である。段階 II の物質を400℃よりも高温に加熱することによって段階 III の物質が形成される(この場合、1族金属の一部が放出される)。段階 I、 II 及び III の物質は、1族金属の吸着後にシリカゲルの還元をもたらすと考えられる。本発明による好ましい1族金属/シリカゲル組成物は、ナトリウム、カリウム又はナトリウム−カリウム合金を含有する組成物であるが、ナトリウム及びナトリウム−カリウム合金を含有する組成物が最も好ましい。
本発明による段階 I の物質は、液状の1族金属とシリカゲルを、該液状金属シリカゲルの細孔内へ吸収されるのに十分な発熱条件下で混合させることによって得られる生成物を含有する1族金属/シリカゲル組成物である。段階 I で製造される1族金属/シリカゲル組成物は乾燥O2とは反応しない。段階 I の物質においては、アルカリ金属又はその合金は、バルク金属の特性(例えば、融解性)を失った形態へ変換される。活性な還元性物質が分散された骨組の大部分はSiO2である。段階 I の物質に関する対分布関数実験によれば、結晶化度を伴わない支配的なケイ素と酸素のピークが示されており、このことは、アルカリ金属がイオン化されてアルカリカチオンを形成すると共に、放出された電子はシリカの骨組み又は空隙内へ移動したことを示すものである。対分布関数に関しては、次の文献を参照されたい:ビリンゲら、Chem. Commun. 、2004年、第749頁〜第760頁。
本発明による段階 II の物質は、液状の1族金属とシリカゲルを、該金属若しくはその合金をシリカゲルの細孔内へ吸収されるのに十分な発熱条件下で混合して得られる混合物を約215℃〜約400℃まで加熱することによって調製される生成物を含有する1族金属/シリカゲル組成物である。例えば、閉鎖容器内において、ナトリウムとシリカゲルの混合物中のナトリウムを溶融させ、該混合物を400℃で一夜加熱することによってナトリウムをシリカゲルの細孔中へ完全に包含させて段階 II のナトリウム/シリカゲル組成物を調製することができる。段階 II のナトリウム含有物質に関する予備的な対分布関数実験によれば、ナノサイズの結晶性ケイ化ナトリウム(化学量論組成がNaSiである化合物、例えば、Na4Si4)がシリカゲル組成物中に存在し、ナトリウム金属は存在しないことが判明した。
本発明による段階 III の物質は、液状の1族金属とシリカゲルを、該金属がシリカゲルの細孔内に吸収されるのに十分な発熱条件下で混合して得られる混合物を約400℃よりも高い温度(好ましくは、約500℃よりも高い温度)まで加熱することによって調製される生成物を含有する1族金属/シリカゲル組成物である。製造される段階 III の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物は乾燥O2とは反応しない。
本発明による全ての1族金属/シリカゲル組成物は水と発熱的に反応することによって、1族金属に基づいて実質上定量的な収率で水素を生成する。即ち、都合のよいことには、本発明による組成物は1族金属の反応性を保持する。段階0の物質は乾燥空気中において手短に取り扱うことができるが、該物質は酸素とはゆっくりと反応し、又、湿気とは急速に反応する。これとは対照的に、段階 I、 II 及びIII の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物は乾燥酸素に対しては全く反応性を示さない。
例示的なシリカゲルとして、グレース-デビソン社製の「ダビシル」(30〜50メッシュ)を使用した。該シリカゲルはさらさらした粉末であって、99+パーセントのSiO2である。しかしながら、該粉末は多量のガス状物質(水蒸気及び空気)を含有した。この種のガス状物質を除去するために、該シリカゲルを排気可能な三角フラスコ内において、真空下で加熱した。加熱手段として、最初は熱風ドライヤーを使用し、次いでトーチを使用した。加熱温度は約300℃に達した。前述のように、シリカゲルの脱ガス処理は、空気中において600℃又はそれよりも高温に加熱するか焼処理によってより容易におこなうことができる。この場合、活性サイトの不動態化(passivation)を伴う。
本発明による1族金属/シリカゲル組成物の1つの重要な特徴は、水の添加によって、純粋な水素ガスを定量的に生成する特性を有することである。1族金属/シリカゲル組成物の還元力は、排気処理に付した該組成物の試料へ水を添加したときに発生する水素を、改造テプラーポンプを用いて捕集することによって決定した。還元力は、等量の水素を発生させるために使用したアルカリ金属又はその合金の量(重量%)で定義される。このことは、既知量の試料を脱ガス処理に付した水と反応させたときに生成する水素を捕集することによって証明した。水素は、水銀を充填した改造テプラーポンプを使用し、較正したピペット内へ捕集した。水素の生成量は、一般に金属のみによって生成される量に等しい。このような分析は、全ての段階の還元シリカゲル試料に対しておこなった。例えば、NaKを40重量%含有する段階 I のシリカゲル試料が、該量のNaKのみによって生成される水素の量と同量の水素を生成するならば、還元力は40%となる。生成するアルカリ金属水酸化物の全量は、HClの添加と水酸化ナトリウムを用いる逆滴定によって決定した。滴定と還元力から得られるアルカリ金属の全百分率の間の差は、SiOH基と他の水素源の濃度の尺度となり得る。アルカリ金属は、試料の調製時にこの種の基と反応して水素を発生させる。この反応は、アルカリ金属又はその合金とシリカゲルとの混合時に生成する検出可能な量のガスの起源となる。
ステンレス鋼製のパンを使用し、内部にヘリウムを満たしたグローブボックス内において、脱ガス処理とか焼処理に付したシリカゲル(14g)を、パスツールピペットから供給されたNa2K(9.7g)と混合することによって段階0の物質を調製した。この場合、Na2Kは、シリカゲルで覆われたパンの種々の領域へ滴下することによって添加した。合金の滴下によってシリカゲルは湿潤化され、該混合物をスパチュラで押しつぶすことによって合金のシリカゲルへの混入を促進した。生成物は温まらず、非常に光沢のある表面を有した。このことは、生成物の表面上に遊離の金属が存在することを示すものであり、Na2Kはシリカゲルの細孔中へ完全には吸収されなかった。生成物の試料(3.6mg)をDSC用パンに入れて該熱分析をおこなった。DSCは約−55℃〜60℃の温度範囲に10分間保持した後、これを繰り返した。次いで、試料を450℃まで2回加熱した。溶融による吸熱量は、金属1gあたり約135Jであった。この吸熱量は、添加した金属に基づいて予測された値よりも幾分高い値である。秤量した質量は予想値とは一致せず、濃度に不均一性がみられた。試料を60℃まで加熱して10分間保持し、次いでこれを繰り返すことによって、ΔH溶融=61.4J/g 金属の値が得られた。このことは、か焼効果が既にもたらされて試料が次の段階の物質に変換されたことを示す。試料の還元力は、排気処理に付した試料へ水を添加して発生する水素を改造テプラーポンプ内へ捕集することによって決定した。この還元力は、同量の水素を生成するのに必要な1族金属の量として定義される。同じ試料(21mg)からのH2の発生量は37%の還元力をもたらした。この値は、所定の金属濃度(40重量%)に一致する。
段階0の物質から段階 I の物質への変換は、試料をエージング(aging)処理又は均一な加熱処理に付すことによっておこなうことができる。段階0の物質を真空下又は不活性雰囲気下において、撹拌しながら約140℃で一夜加熱することによって段階 I の物質が生成した。DSCによれば、この過程において溶融吸熱量はほとんど又は全く認められなかった(図7参照)。段階0の物質は、粒径が小さいために、バルクの立ち上がり温度(−13℃)ではなくて、−25℃で溶融を開始した。段階0の物質のΔH(117J/g 金属)に比べて段階 I の物質のΔHは小さく(9J/g 金属)、このことは、当該金属の大部分がアルカリ金属カチオンへ変換されたことを示すものである。シリカゲル粒子の細孔中又は表面上に遊離のアルカリ金属が明らかに存在しないことに起因して、この段階においては、乾燥空気中での酸化は全くおこなわれない。
段階 II の物質の調製は、段階0及び段階 I の物質を400℃まで連続的に加熱するか、又は高融点アルカリ金属(例えば、ナトリウム及びカリウム)を使用することによりおこなうことができる。脱ガス処理とか焼処理に付したシリカゲル13.5gを秤量し、これにナトリウム金属7.3gを添加した。このシリカゲルを減圧下(3.5×10−5torr)で加熱することによる脱ガス処理に付した。シリカゲルとナトリウムとの混合物を150℃で1時間加熱した後、激しく撹拌し、次いで200℃で1.5時間加熱した。この場合、約30分ごとに激しく撹拌した。最後に、得られた物質を300℃で一夜加熱した。緩く凝集してさらさらした粉末が形成された。400℃まで昇温させ、該粉末をさらに3時間加熱した。
シリカゲル中にNaKを包含させた物質を調製するために、600℃でのか焼処理に付したシリカゲル(3.00g)を、NaK(3.012g)を収容した三角フラスコ内へ入れた。NaK合金は、Na(5.562g)とK(9.433g)から調製した。得られたマスは、約50ミリモルのNaと約50ミリモルのKから成るNaK及び50ミリモルのSiO2から構成された。従って、試料中の金属とSiとのモル比は2:1である。室温では、このシリカゲルは黒色化を開始し、数分以内に均一で光沢のある流動性黒色粉末に変化した。この場合、発熱量は検出されなかった。得られた物質から、H2分析用試料(22.6mg)を採取した。H2の発生は、T=296.6oK及びPatm=738.9torr の条件下でおこなった。353マイクロモルの金属に相当するH2(176.5マイクロモル)が発生した。このH2の発生量はシリカゲル中の金属の濃度(48.4重量%)に相当する(所定の初期添加量:50重量%)。得られた試料を制御された条件下で加熱することによって、段階 I 及び II の物質を調製した。しかしながら、該物質の調製中にフラスコを加熱することによって、強い発熱反応が開始して金属が突沸し、フラスコの内部は該金属によって被覆された。
種々の量の金属+シリカゲルを用いることによって、アルカリ金属の濃度が20〜50重量%である多数の組成物を調製した。Naとシリカゲルを混合して調製した1つの試料は45.6%の還元力を示した。還元力は、一般に、添加した金属量に基づいて得られる最大値の94%又はそれよりも高い値である。残余の2〜6%は、アルカリ金属と欠陥サイトとの反応に相当する。種々の処置(例えば、酸素への暴露又は加熱等)に付した後の還元力を測定することによって、当該試料の安定性に関する情報を得た。この試料の還元力は、48時間後には僅かに44%まで低下するに過ぎなかった。この場合の還元力の全喪失量が1.6%であるということは、湿分の不存在下での酸素との反応がほとんど発生しなかったことを示す。室温又はこれに近い温度で液体である種々の組成比の他のNa−K合金を使用することも可能である。例えば、Na3Kを用いて調製した還元シリカは、実施例5で得られた試料と類似の結果を示した。この試料は、ヘリウムで満たしたグローブボックス内の三角フラスコ内において、シリカゲル8412mgをNa3K433mgに添加することによって調製した。NaKとシリカゲルの質量比を1:1にする2種の別の試料も調製した。さらに、NaKとシリカゲルの質量比を1:4にする試料も調製した。これらの全ての試料は、さらさらした状態の黒色粉末である段階 I の物質を形成した。該粉末は乾燥空気中において安定であった。又、これらの試料をグローブボックス内において長期間貯蔵したところ、特性に関して検知できる変化は認められなかった。
実験に際して、ヘリウムで満たしたグローブボックス内において液状Csのこぼれ液が生じた。この事故に起因して、アルカリ金属の有効な掃除法が見出された。Csのこぼれ液へシリカゲルを注ぎかけ、キムワイプ(Kimwipe)を用いてかき混ぜた。Cs金属の全てのこぼれ液はシリカゲル中へ吸収され、シリカゲルは黒色に変化した。従って、シリカゲルは、融点の低いアルカリ金属及び共晶合金(例えば、NaK等)に対する理想的な掃除材料である。
図3に示すように、純粋なセシウムの挙動はNaK合金の挙動に類似する。図3において、DSCダイヤグラムは、1:1セシウム/シリカゲル試料に関する記録曲線を示す。この場合、上部の曲線(310)は新鮮な室温での試料に関するものであり、下部の曲線(320)は、試料を冷却した後、分析を繰り返したときの曲線である。発熱過程に対するΔHの総和は約−120kJ/mol 金属に相当した。溶融発熱が不存在のとき、セシウム金属は発熱する。しかしながら、50重量%のCsはシリカ1モルあたり0.5モルよりも少ないCsを含有するので、DSC実験においては、Cs金属の溶融吸熱は観測されなかった。セシウムを添加した4種の試料を調製した。2種の試料は蒸気相添加によって調製し、1種の試料はシリカゲルへのセシウム金属の直接添加によって調製した。これらの3種の試料はさらさらした粉末として調製された。蒸気相添加による2種の試料は室温及び40℃においてそれぞれ調製した。蒸気相添加によって20重量%未満のセシウムを添加することによって、青色の還元シリカが形成された。セシウムの濃度がこれよりも高くなると、さらさらした黒色粉末が得られた。段階 I の物質を加熱することによって、段階 II 及び/又は段階 III の還元されたCs含有シリカゲルが発熱を伴って形成された。例えば、図3は、段階 I のCs-シリカゲル(1:1)を650℃まで加熱した後、冷却した試料を再加熱したDSC実験の結果を示すが、この図から明らかなように、最初の加熱によって発熱反応がもたらされるが、このような発熱反応は再加熱した試料の場合には見られない。このことは、段階 I の物質から段階 III の物質への変換はおこなわれるが、段階 III の物質のさらなる有意な反応はおこらないことを示すものである。
段階0から段階 II までの全てのアルカリ金属-シリカゲル粉末は、バーチ還元によって、アントラセンをラジカルアニオンへ還元させることができる。この還元は、溶液が濃い青色を示すことによって観測され、又、この還元反応は、生成物の光学的吸収スペルトルを得ることによって証明された(図8参照)。図8は、本発明による段階 I の物質(M-SG)によるアントラセンの還元によって得られるアントラセンラジカルアニオンの光学的吸収スペクトルを示す。このスペクトルは、該アニオンの既知のスペクトルと実質上同一である。このラジカルアニオンは、溶液中で長時間にわたって存続するのに十分安定である。この反応は、種々の反応形式、例えば、バッチ反応、積層クロマトグラフィーカラム(市販のシリカゲル上に積層させたアルカリ金属-シリカゲル)及び混合クロマトグラフィーカラム(市販のシリカゲルと均一に混合したアルカリ金属-シリカゲル;一般的な混合比は50:50である)等によって実施することができる。積層クロマトグラフィーカラム又は混合床クロマトグラフィーをアルカリ金属-シリカゲルと併用することによりアントラセンを還元させ、生成するラジカルアニオンをその保留水(retained water)によってプロトン化させることができる。予想されるように、生成物は9, 10 - ジヒドロアントラセンである。上記の反応は次の反応式によって表される:
アルカリ金属と有機化合物との最も古い反応の内の一つはウルツ反応である。この反応においては、クロロカーボンの脱ハロゲン化によってカップリングがもたらされて新たな炭素-炭素結合が形成される。しかしながら、塊状のアルカリ金属と純粋なクロロカーボンを使用する場合には、反応は爆発的におこなわれて危険である。以下に示すように、このカップリング反応は、10mlのTHFにベンジルクロリドを約130mg溶解させた
溶液を使用し、段階 I の物質であるNa2K/シリカゲル(Na2Kの含有量:約30〜40重量%)を約1.3g用いる還元によっておこなった。しかしながら、小さなカラムを急速に通過させる場合には、部分的な還元(約30%)がもたらされた。しかしながら、段階 I 及び段階0の物質であるNa2K/シリカゲル(Na2Kの含有量:約30〜40重量%)を用いる別の実験においては、反応液のカラム中の急速な通過によって、完全で100%の収率がもたらされた。従って、反応体の所望の生成物への転化率はカラムの通過時間によって変化する。バルク還元は、段階 I の物質であるNa2K/シリカゲルとの撹拌を3時間おこなった後で発生する。GC-MSと1H-NMRによって検出された唯一の生成物はビベンジルであった(図10A〜10C参照)。図10A〜10Cは、バッチ法によるベンジルクロリドの還元によって得られる生成物の分析結果を示す。図10Aは、GCチャートにおいて単一のピークが出現したことを示し、図10Bは、GC生成物のマススペクトルを示し、又、図10Cは生成物の1H-NMRスペクトルを示す。図10Bに示すMSはビベンジルのMSに正確に一致する。4.6ppmの位置に反応体であるベンジルクロリドの全く出現しないことに注意すべきである。
炭化水素硫化物からの脱硫は多くの問題をもたらし、又、無数の生成物を生成する。従って、フェニルスルフィドと段階 I の物質であるNa2K/シリカゲル(Na2Kの含有量:約30〜40重量%)をバッチ反応させることによって、以下に示すように、ビフェニルのみが生成するということは驚くべきことであった。このことは、GC-MSと1H-NMRによって証明された(図11A〜図11C参照)。図11A〜11Cは、フェニルスルフィドと本発明による段階 I の物質とのバッチ反応を一夜おこなって得られた生成物の分析結果を示す。図11Aは、GCチャートにおいて単一のピークが出現したことを示し、図11Bは、GC生成物のマススペクトルを示し、又、図11Cは生成物の1H-NMRスペクトルを示す。図11Cに示す1H-NMRスペクトルは主としてビフェニルのスペクトルであるが、該スペクトルは、測定に使用したジュウテロン-クロロホルムに由来するクロロホルム及び僅かに残存するフェニルスルフィド反応体が存在することも示す。7.3ppm周辺の化学シフトの領域においてスペクトルが重なり合うために、収率を正確に求めることはできないが、生成物のほとんどはビフェニルである。同様にして、ジベンゾチオフェンから硫黄は完全に除去された(このプロセスは炭化水素の脱硫においては特に困難なプロセスである)。1H-NMRスペクトルは別の生成物の存在を示すが、GC-MSによれば、主要な生成物はビフェニルである。
本発明による1族金属/シリカゲル組成物を使用する場合の当初の重要な問題点は、還元シリカ組成物中に1族金属が金属性の状態で存在するかどうかということであった。このことを確認するために、微細に分割したナトリウムとシリカゲルの試料を調製した。ナトリウムは容易に凝集するために、ナトリウムの試料は、凍結させたナトリウムのアンモニア溶液からアンモニアを蒸発させることによって調製した。得られた試料の3箇所の部分をDSCに付した。98℃でナトリウムを溶融させた時に吸収される熱を用いてサンプル中のナトリウムの量を測定した。この分析においては、幅広い発熱ピークが100℃〜490℃の温度範囲にわたって観測され、又、280℃においては、未知物に起因する鋭いピークもみられた。試料を冷却させた後、再加熱したところ、熱的ピークは観測されなかった。このことは、熱処理によって遊離のナトリウムが完全に除去されたことを示すもので、この原因はナトリウムがシリカと反応するためであると考えられる。さらに、固体状態のNaのNMRは、還元シリカゲル組成物中には金属性のナトリウムが存在しないことを示した。さらに又、生成物「還元シリカ」と水との反応熱を概算することが可能であった。還元シリカと水との反応熱(発熱)は、Na1モルあたり約−136±18kJであり、この値は純粋なナトリウムの反応熱の約75%である。従って、本発明による1族金属/シリカゲル組成物は水と反応するときに相当な量の熱を発生する。
最初に、シリカゲル(約40g)を空気中において600℃で一夜加熱することによって、シリカゲル中に含まれるガスを放出させた。この処理に付したシリカゲル(3.0g)を長い首を装着させた三角フラスコ内に入れ、高真空下(2×10−5torr)において約300℃まで加熱することによる脱ガス処理にさらに付した。次に、該フラスコを排気口を介してヘリウムを満たしたグローブボックス内へ移した。次いで、モル比が1:1のNaK(3.0g)を、シリカゲルを保有する該フラスコ内へ添加することによって、質量比が50:50のシリカゲル/NaK混合物を調製した。この時点において、NaKはシリカゲル表面の湿潤化を開始させ、シリカゲルは黒色に変化した。グローブボックスから取り出したフラスコを約2×10−5torr まで排気させた。試料全体が被覆されてさらさらした黒色粉末(段階 I の物質)になるのに十分な活性化がもたらされるように僅かな撹拌力を混合物に印可させた。反応中、検出可能な熱は発生しなかった。ヒートガン(heat gun)を用いて加温した第二の試料は自然に発熱的に反応し、フラスコは接触することができないほど熱くなった。この反応によって段階 I の物質はその他の形態(段階 II 又は段階 III の物質)へ変換されると考えられる。
最初に、シリカゲル(2.25g)をフラスコ内に入れて真空下で加熱することによって、シリカゲルの脱ガス処理をおこなった。ガスが発生しなくなって、フラスコ内の圧力が3×10−5torr になった後、フラスコを加熱源から移動させた。次に、フラスコを排気口を介してヘリウムを満たしたグローブボックス内へ移した後、Na(1.135g)をフラスコ内へ添加した。次いで、液体アンモニア(NH3)をポンプでフラスコ内へフリーズ(freeze)輸送させる操作を1回おこなった後、液体アンモニアをNa-シリカゲル粉末上で蒸留させることによって、次式で表される触媒分解反応を発生させた。
最初に、99%シリカゲル(30〜50メッシュ)2.2786gを三角フラスコ内へ入れた。フラスコを真空条件下で加熱して脱気処理をおこなった。加熱は、最初はヒートガンを用いておこない、次いでトーチを用いておこなった。トーチの燃料(O2)の供給量は、トーチの炎の先端部が黄色になるように調整した。シリカゲルの加熱と脱気処理をおこなった後、約2.145g(2.5cm3)のシリカゲルが残存した。次に、フラスコをさらに加熱し、2×10−5torr の圧力まで排気した。加熱後、Na(980mg)をシリンダー内へ転がして入れ、次いでフラスコ内へ添加した。Naの目標量は1.0gであった。フラスコ内でNaが溶融すると、フラスコ内の圧力は約10−3torr に変化した。さらなるガスが発生したので、フラスコは真空下で断続的に90分間加熱した。フラスコを室温まで冷却した後、2×10−5torr の状態で密封した。次いで、フラスコ壁上に残存するNaがシリカゲルの表面上へ蒸着されるまでフラスコを加熱した。最後に、フラスコを210℃の加熱炉内に一夜保持した。得られた試料は4個のバイアル内へ分配した。僅かの残存物を含有する試料をそれぞれ812mg、771mg、823mg及び525mg保有する4個のバイアルをフリーザー内へ移した。
実施例2において調製したNa/シリカゲル混合物の2種の試料をフリーザーから取り出した。第一の試料の重量は520mgであった。ポンプを使用して、柑橘類オイル芳香剤(684mg)の所定圧(2×10−5torr)までの凍結移送を3回おこなった後、ヘリウムを満たしたグローブボックス内へ移した。Na/シリカゲル混合物の第一の試料をグローブボックス内の柑橘類オイルへ添加した。この試料を、液体NH3で冷却しながら排気処理に付した。次いで、試料を室温まで暖めた後、Naとシリカゲルとの反応によって生成したガス類及び柑橘類オイルを測定した。試料を室温で110分間保持して反応を観察した。次いで、試料を液体窒素で冷却させ、水分を5分間にわたって試料上へ凝縮させた。試料を暖めることによって、試料と水との反応を惹起させた。全てのガス類は捕集して測定した。
クエン酸0.8g、重炭酸ナトリウム0.35g、ナトリウム含有還元シリカゲル0.11g及び芳香剤0.27gを含有する第一の脱臭剤組成物、クエン酸0.8g、重炭酸ナトリウム0.35g、ナトリウム含有還元シリカゲル0.11g及び芳香剤0.35gを含有する第二の脱臭剤組成物、並びにクエン酸0.8g、重炭酸ナトリウム0.35g、ナトリウム含有還元シリカゲル0.11g及び芳香剤0.5gを含有する第三の脱臭剤組成物を調製した。
Claims (53)
- 液状1族金属をシリカゲルの細孔へ吸収させるのに十分な等温条件下での不活性雰囲気中において、液状1族金属とシリカゲルを混合させることによって得られる生成物を含有する1族金属/シリカゲル組成物であって、乾燥酸素と反応する該組成物。
- シリカゲルが50〜1000Åの孔径を有する請求項1記載の組成物。
- シリカゲルが約150Åの平均孔径を有する請求項1記載の組成物。
- 1族金属が、ルビジウム、セシウム、及び2種以上の1族金属の合金から成る群から選択される金属である請求項1記載の組成物。
- 1族金属が、ナトリウム−カリウム合金である請求項1記載の組成物。
- 1族金属の含有量が50重量%までである請求項1記載の組成物。
- 液状1族金属若しくは液状1族金属合金をシリカゲルの細孔へ吸収させるのに十分な発熱条件下において、液状1族金属とシリカゲルを混合させることによって得られる生成物を含有する1族金属/シリカゲル組成物であって、乾燥酸素と反応しない該組成物。
- シリカゲルが約50〜1000Åの孔径を有する請求項7記載の組成物。
- シリカゲルが約150Åの平均孔径を有する請求項7記載の組成物。
- 1族金属が、ルビジウム、セシウム、及び2種以上の1族金属の合金から成る群から選択される金属である請求項7記載の組成物。
- 1族金属が、ナトリウム−カリウム合金である請求項7記載の組成物。
- 1族金属の含有量が50重量%までである請求項7記載の組成物。
- 液状1族金属若しくは液状1族金属合金をシリカゲルの細孔へ吸収させるのに十分な発熱条件下において、液状1族金属とシリカゲルを混合させて得られる混合物を約215℃〜約400℃の温度まで加熱することによって調製される生成物を含有する1族金属/シリカゲル組成物であって、乾燥酸素と反応しない該組成物。
- 多孔性シリカゲルの細孔が約50〜1000Åの平均孔径を有する請求項13記載の組成物。
- 多孔性シリカゲルが約150Åの平均孔径を有する請求項13記載の組成物。
- 1族金属が、ナトリウム、カリウム、ルビジウム及びセシウムから成る群から選択される金属又は2種以上の1族金属の合金である請求項13記載の組成物。
- 1族金属が、ナトリウム、カリウム又はナトリウム−カリウム合金である請求項13記載の組成物。
- 1族金属の含有量が50重量%までである請求項13記載の組成物。
- 1族金属の含有量が30〜40重量%である請求項18記載の組成物。
- 液状1族金属若しくは液状1族金属合金をシリカゲルの細孔へ吸収させるのに十分な発熱条件下において、液状1族金属とシリカゲルを混合させて得られる混合物を約400℃よりも高温まで加熱することによって調製される生成物を含有する1族金属/シリカゲル組成物であって、乾燥酸素と反応しない該組成物。
- 多孔性シリカゲルの細孔が約50〜1000Åの平均孔径を有する請求項20記載の組成物。
- 多孔性シリカゲルが約150Åの平均孔径を有する請求項20記載の組成物。
- 1族金属が、ナトリウム、カリウム、ルビジウム、セシウム及び2種以上の1族金属の合金から成る群から選択される請求項20記載の組成物。
- 1族金属が、ナトリウム、カリウム又はナトリウム−カリウム合金である請求項23記載の組成物。
- 1族金属の含有量が50重量%までである請求項20記載の組成物。
- 1族金属の含有量が30〜40重量%である請求項25記載の組成物。
- 液状1族金属とシリカゲルを等温条件下で不活性雰囲気中又は真空中において接触させることによって、1族金属をシリカゲルの細孔中へ吸収させる工程を含む段階0の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物の製造方法。
- 請求項27記載の段階0の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物を140℃の温度において、段階0の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物が段階 I の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物に変換されるのに必要な時間と条件下で加熱する工程を含む段階 I の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物の製造方法。
- 請求項27記載の段階0の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物を約215℃〜約400℃の温度において、段階0の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物が段階 II の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物に変換されるのに必要な時間と条件下で加熱する工程を含む段階 II の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物の製造方法。
- 請求項27記載の段階0の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物を500℃よりも高温において、段階0の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物が段階 III の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物に変換されるのに必要な時間と条件下で加熱する工程を含む段階 III の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物の製造方法。
- 液状1族金属若しくは液状1族金属合金をシリカゲルの細孔へ吸収させるのに十分な発熱条件下において、液状1族金属とシリカゲルを混合させる工程を含む段階 I の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物の製造方法。
- 液状1族金属をシリカゲルの細孔へ吸収させるのに十分な発熱条件下において、液状1族金属とシリカゲルを混合させて得られる混合物を約215℃〜約400℃の温度まで加熱する工程を含む段階 II の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物の製造方法。
- 液状1族金属をシリカゲルの細孔へ吸収させるのに十分な発熱条件下において、液状1族金属とシリカゲルを混合させて得られる混合物を約500℃よりも高温まで加熱する工程を含む段階 III の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物の製造方法。
- 請求項1記載の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物を水と接触させる工程を含む水素ガスの製造方法。
- 請求項7記載の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物を水と接触させる工程を含む水素ガスの製造方法。
- 請求項13記載の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物を水と接触させる工程を含む水素ガスの製造方法。
- 請求項20記載の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物を水と接触させる工程を含む水素ガスの製造方法。
- アルカリ金属の存在下での芳香族化合物のバーチ還元反応であって、該反応を請求項1記載の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物の存在下でおこなうことを特徴とするバーチ還元反応。
- アルカリ金属の存在下での芳香族化合物のバーチ還元反応であって、該反応を請求項7記載の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物の存在下でおこなうことを特徴とするバーチ還元反応。
- アルカリ金属の存在下での芳香族化合物のバーチ還元反応であって、該反応を請求項13記載の1族金属/シリカゲル組成物の存在下でおこなうことを特徴とするバーチ還元反応。
