Abstract
【解決手段】磁気記録媒体の記録面のトラック方向に進行しながら、磁気記録媒体の記録面に磁場を印加するメインポールと、メインポールとギャップをおいて離隔されているリターンポールと、メインポールに磁場を誘導する誘導コイルとを備える磁気ヘッドにおいて、メインポールとリターンポールとの間のギャップ領域には、2つ以上のギャップシールドが形成された、ギャップシールドを備える垂直磁気記録ヘッドである。

Claims (10)
- 磁気記録媒体の記録面のトラック方向に進行し、前記磁気記録媒体の記録面に磁場を印加するメインポールと、
前記メインポールとギャップをおいて離隔されているリターンポールと、
前記メインポールに磁場を誘導する誘導コイルと、を備える磁気ヘッドにおいて、
前記メインポールと前記リターンポールとの間のギャップ領域には、2つ以上のギャップシールドが形成されたことを特徴とするギャップシールドを備える垂直磁気記録ヘッド。 - 前記ギャップシールドは、前記メインポール及び前記リターンポールの下端面(ABS)の中心をつなぐ線分に対称的に形成されたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の垂直磁気記録ヘッド。
- 前記ギャップシールドの前記トラック方向の長さは、前記ギャップの幅より小さいことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のギャップシールドを備える垂直磁気記録ヘッド。
- 前記ギャップは、下端部の幅が100nm以下であることを特徴とする請求項1または請求項3に記載のギャップシールドを備える垂直磁気記録ヘッド。
- 前記ギャップシールドは、軟磁性材料から形成されたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のギャップシールドを備える垂直磁気記録ヘッド。
- 前記ギャップシールドは、NiFeまたはCoNiFeから形成されたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のギャップシールドを備える垂直磁気記録ヘッド。
- 情報が記録される磁気記録媒体と、
前記磁気記録媒体の記録面のトラック方向に進行しながら、前記磁気記録媒体の記録面に磁場を印加するメインポール、前記メインポールとギャップをおいて離隔されているリターンポール、及び前記メインポールに磁場を誘導する誘導コイルを備える書き込み用の磁気ヘッドと、
前記磁気記録媒体に記録された情報を読み出す磁気抵抗素子を備える読み取り用の磁気ヘッドと、を有する磁気記録装置において、
前記メインポールと前記リターンポールとの間のギャップ領域には、2つ以上のギャップシールドが形成されたことを特徴とするギャップシールドを備える垂直磁気記録装置。 - 前記ギャップシールドは、前記メインポール及び前記リターンポールの下端面(ABS)の中心をつなぐ線分に対称的に形成されたことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の垂直磁気記録ヘッド。
- 前記ギャップシールドの前記トラック方向の長さは、前記ギャップの幅より小さいことを特徴とする請求項7に記載のギャップシールドを備える垂直磁気記録ヘッド。
- 前記ギャップの下端部の幅は、100nm以下であることを特徴とする請求項7または請求項9に記載のギャップシールドを備える垂直磁気記録ヘッド。
