Abstract

Description
この記号は、多層色変移顔料フレークの少なくとも1層で、局所的に反射率などの光学特性の1つを変えることによって形成させる。多層色変移顔料フレークは、一般に、スペーサー層によって反射層から隔てられた吸収層を有するファブリペロー(Fabry Perot)型構造を含む。反射層は、通常金属層であり、顔料フレークを本質的に不透明にする。これらの顔料フレークが大きい割合で他の顔料に混入されると、得られる色は、顔料とは大幅に異なるかもしれず、また顔料へのフレークの混入が少なすぎると、それらを見つけるのは困難であるかもしれない。

図1は、本発明の一実施形態による、防犯形体12を有する印刷物10の一部分の平面図である。防犯形体12の少なくとも一部14は、印を有する不透明なフレーク(以後、「不可視のフレーク(隠しフレーク)」)を、多量の顔料フレークなどの多量の顔料と混合されて含むインクまたは塗料を使用して印刷される。1つの実施形態では、不可視のフレークは、正方形、長方形、台形、「ダイヤモンド」形、または円などの特定の形をしている。他の実施形態では、不可視のフレークは、格子パターンで、選択された形を持つものと持たないものを含む。好ましくは、選択された形は、形押し、エッチング、またはレーザーの使用によってもたらされて、枠または縁が作られ、フレークが当座の支持基材から剥がされる際にはそれらに沿って破断する。ある特定の実施形態では、格子パターンは、スペクトルの可視領域では光学的に活性でない格子間隔を有している。すなわち、これらの格子パターンは、見える回折格子を形成しない。不可視のフレークは、時にはタゲント(taggent)フレークとも称されるが、必ずしもすべてのタゲントフレークが不可視のフレークである必要はない。
マゼンタ〜グリーン光学的可変凹版(「OVI」)顔料フレーク100%を使用して試験基準を作成し測定した。光輝および光学的変化タゲントサンプルは、2000ライン/mmの格子パターンを有しており、これがタゲントフレークをベース顔料フレークと見分ける(すなわち探す)ことをより容易にし、偽造をより困難にした。格子パターンは、約400倍ではっきり見え、試験組成物で印刷された画像に目に見える回折特性を誘発しなかった。タゲントフレークの割合が低いことが、観察者に対して十分に配向されていなかったことと組み合わさって、回折効果の発生を回避したと考えられる。別の一実施形態では、より細かい格子パターンが、成形されたタゲントフレークに含まれている。形は、顕微鏡下の第一の拡大で確認できるが、格子パターンは、この第一の拡大では容易には見られない。格子パターンはより大きい拡大では見える選択された形または記号を有するタゲントフレークにそのような格子パターンを含むことは、偽造者は、顕微鏡で調べて形や記号は見るかも知れないが、格子パターンは見ず、偽造品にも含めないので、タゲントフレークの不可視のという性質をさらに高めると考えられる。
図6は、本発明の一実施形態による顔料フレークを作成する方法600の流れ図である。ロール基材の蒸着表面の領域に選択された比率で、非エンボス加工(滑らかな)部とエンボス加工部とを有するロール基材が準備される(ステップ602)。一実施形態では、エンボス加工部は、選択された形のフレークを作るための枠をエンボス加工される。一代替実施形態では、エンボス加工部は格子パターンまたは記号でエンボス加工される。一代替実施形態では、基材は、エンボス加工以外の、たとえばレーザー研磨などの方法を使用してパターンをつける。基材に少なくとも1層の薄膜を蒸着し(ステップ604)、蒸着された薄膜層をフレークに加工し(ステップ606)、選択された量のタゲントフレークを有するフレーク混合物を得る。タゲントフレークの収率は、加工される薄膜層の種類、枠、格子パターンまたは記号の性質および加工パラメーターなどの要因に依存する。
