Claims (4)
- a)材料の層を載せるための基板;
b)ポリマー分散型コレステリック液晶材料を含む画像形成層、当該画像形成層は、動作スペクトルを規定する可視光スペクトルの部分の範囲内で第1の相対的に高い反射状態と、前記動作スペクトル内の第2の相対的に低い反射状態とを有しており、前記状態は電場によって当該2つの状態の間で変わることができ、そしてこれらの状態は電場が無くても維持されることができる;
c)前記画像形成層の一方の側に配置された第1の透明導体;
d)前記画像形成層のもう一方の側にある、前記画像形成層の動作スペクトルの範囲内で相対的に低い透過率を有し、そして前記動作スペクトルの範囲外の光に相対的に高い透過率を有する相補光吸収層、ここで前記相補光吸収層は1μm未満の厚さを有しており;および
e)前記相補光吸収層を通って透過した光を前記相補光吸収層を通して反射させる、随意選択的に第2電極の一部となる反射表面;並びに
f)第2電極
を含んで成るディスプレイ・シート。 - 前記画像形成層が前記第1の相対的に高い反射状態にあるときには、前記ディスプレイ・シートからの反射光のCIE三刺激値X、Y及びZは、互いから20%以内にある、請求項1記載のディスプレイ・シート。
- ディスプレイの前面が観察者によって見ることができる前面から裏面に以下順に:
a)随意選択的な基板;
b)透明な第1の導体;
c)前記観察者に到達する液晶由来の第1の反射光を提供するために、フォーカル・コニック状態で光を透過し、プレーナー状態で光を反射するポリマー分散型コレステリック液晶材料を含む画像形成層;および
d)相補光吸収層、ここで前記相補光吸収層は1μm未満の厚さを有しており;
e)前記画像形成層および前記相補光吸収層を通って透過した光を、前記相補光吸収層を通して反射し、それによって前記観察者に到達するカラー・フィルター処理された第2の反射光を提供する反射表面;ならびに
f)随意選択的に前記反射表面を形成している第2の導体;
を含んで成るディスプレイであって、
液晶材料がプレーナー状態にあるときに、前記液晶由来の第1の反射光およびカラー・フィルター処理された第2の反射光を含み、前記カラー・フィルター処理された第2の反射光無しの前記液晶由来の光単独よりもより無彩色である総反射光が観察者に到達するような光吸収率を、前記相補光吸収層が有するディスプレイ。 - 液晶材料がプレーナー状態にあるときに、前記液晶由来の第1の反射光およびカラー・フィルター処理された第2の反射光を含み、前記カラー・フィルター処理された第2の反射光無しの前記液晶由来の光単独のCIE三刺激値よりもCIE三刺激値X、Y及びZが互いに20パーセント接近する総反射光が観察者に到達するような光吸収率を、前記相補光吸収層が有するディスプレイ。
