Abstract
【解決手段】 コイル22と、コイルが発生した磁束を通し且つ磁気ギャップ24を形成する磁極26と、コイルを取り囲む絶縁層32と、絶縁層及び磁極を覆う保護膜34とを備える磁気ヘッド構造であって、コイル、磁極、絶縁層及び保護膜の積層方向から見た時に、磁気ヘッド構造の浮上面16側の辺が伸びる方向を第1の方向とし、第1の方向に垂直な方向を第2の方向とした時に、絶縁層の第1の方向と第2の方向の最大長さの比は、1.5以上である。

Description
図4は、磁気ヘッド構造20を積層方向から見た時の、コイル22及び絶縁層32の形状を示す図である。ここでは、図4における横方向を第1の方向、図4における縦方向を第2の方向と称する。図示のように、絶縁層32は、第1の方向の幅がL1であり、第2の方向の幅がL2であり、L1≧1.5L2である。また、コイル22は、上コイル22Uと下コイル22Lの2層構造である。図示のように、コイル22の第1の方向の幅はC1である。
図9の結果から、部分16Aの突き出し量は絶縁層32の横方向の幅L1と縦方向の幅L2の比L1/L2が1.5より大きい時に極小値をもつことが分かる。極小値になる比L1/L2は、保護膜34の厚さにより異なるが、おおよそ1.5から6の間にあることが分かる。また、保護膜34の厚さが大きいほど、部分16Aの突き出し量の極小値は比L1/L2が小さくなる方へ移動する。

Claims (4)
- コイルと、コイルが発生した磁束を通し且つ磁気ギャップを形成する磁極と、コイルを取り囲む絶縁層と、絶縁層及び磁極を覆う保護膜とを備える磁気ヘッド構造であって、
前記コイル、前記磁極、前記絶縁層及び前記保護膜の積層方向から見た時に、当該磁気ヘッド構造の浮上面側の辺が伸びる方向を第1の方向とし、前記第1の方向に垂直な方向を第2の方向とした時に、
前記絶縁層の前記第1の方向と前記第2の方向の最大長さの比は、1.5以上であることを特徴とする磁気ヘッド構造。 - 前記比は、1.5と6の間である請求項1に記載の磁気ヘッド構造。
- 前記コイルは多層コイルである請求項1又は2に記載の磁気ヘッド構造。
- 前記コイルは単層コイルである請求項1又は2に記載の磁気ヘッド構造。
