Abstract
【解決手段】 大容量記憶に適した光データ記憶システムは多重データ面を有する光媒体と、光ヘッドを含む駆動装置からなる。駆動装置は、レーザ光を所望のデータ面に照射し、反射してきた光を信号とする。深いデータ層のデータを読み取る際、光は多くの層を通らねばならず、弱い信号しか得られない。その結果、データ面によって、信号強度が異なる。本発明は、各データ面が、コーティングされた誘電反射層を持った媒体を用い、そのコーティング材料及び厚みを適当に選択することで、各データ面からの信号強度がほぼ等しくなるよう最適化した。好適な実施例では、半導体材料が各データ面に付着され、その厚みが反射量を決定する。

図2は媒体12の断面図である。媒体12は基板50を有している。基板50はフェース・プレートまたはカバー・プレートとも呼ばれ、レーザ・ビームが媒体12に進入する個所である。外径(OD)リム52及び内径(ID)リム54が、フェース・プレート50と基板56の間に取り付けられている。ODリム58及びIDリム60が基板56と基板62の間に取り付けられている。ODリム64及びIDリム66が基板62と基板68の間に取り付けられている。ODリム70及びIDリム72が基板68と基板74の間に取り付けられている。フェース・プレート50及び基板56、62、68、74は、ポリカーボネートまたはその他のポリマ材料、あるいはガラスなどの透過性材料でできている。好ましい実施例において、フェース・プレート50及び基板56、62、68、74の厚さは0.3mmである。あるいは、基板の厚さは0.01ないし0.80mmであってもよい。IDリム及びODリムはプラスチック材料製であることが好ましく、厚さはほぼ200ミクロンである。あるいは、リムの厚さは10−500ミクロンであってもよい。フェース・プレート、基板及びリムはポリカーボネート製であることが好ましく、成形法によって形成される。
図13は光ヘッド22及び媒体12の略図を示す。光ヘッド22はレーザ・ダイオード200を有している。レーザ200は約780ナノメートルの波長で一次光束202を発生するガリウム・アルミニウム・ヒ素・ダイオード・レーザとする。光束202はレンズ203によって平行にされ、円形化プリズムといったサーキュラライザ204によって円形とされる。光束202はビーム・スプリッタ205を通過する。光束202の一部はビーム・スプリッタ205によって集束レンズ206及び光検出器207に向かって反射される。検出器207は光束202の出力を監視するために使用される。光束202の残りの部分は通過し、ミラー208で反射される。光束202は次いで、集束レンズ210及び多重データ面収差補償装置212を通過し、媒体12のデータ面の1枚(図では面96)に集束される。レンズ210はホルダ214に取り付けられている。ホルダ214の位置は、ボイス・コイル・モータなどの焦点合わせアクチュエータ・モータ216によって、媒体12に対して調節される。
レンズは通常、屈折率が1.0である空気中で光を集束するように設計される。このようなレンズが屈折率が異なる材料を通して光を集束する場合、光は球面収差をこうむり、この収差が光束のスポットを歪ませ、拡大し、読取り及び記録性能を低下させる。
408と同様である。区画454には何も材料がなく、図24に示すように円形パターンにおけるブランク空間を表している。円形要素452はステップ・モータ462に取り付けられており、該モータはコントローラ314によって制御される。スピンドル462は要素452を回転させ、光束202がどのデータ面に集束しても、同じ厚さの材料を通過するようにする。
光束202を媒体12の特定のデータ面に集束すると、反射光束230がデータ面からヘッド22へ戻される。しかしながら、光束202の一部は他のデータ面で反射される。適当なデータ及びサーボ信号を得るためには、この望ましくない反射光束を排除しなければならない。本発明の媒体12の多重データ面フィルタ222はこの機能を達成する。

前記レーザと前記光ディスクとの間に配設され、前記光ディスクにおける1の記録面の位置と他の記録面の位置との相違によって生じる球面収差を補正するための球面収差補正手段とを有する記録再生装置。

Claims (2)
- 複数の記録面を有する光ディスクへのデータの記録、または前記光ディスクに記録されたデータの再生を行なう記録再生装置であって、
レーザと、
前記複数の記録面のうちのいずれかの記録面に前記レーザから出射された光を合焦させる手段と、
前記レーザと前記光ディスクとの間に配設され、前記光ディスクにおいて1の記録面と他の記録面とを離間させる透明部材によって生じる球面収差を補正するための球面収差補正手段とを有する記録再生装置。 - 複数の記録面を有する光ディスクへのデータの記録、または前記光ディスクに記録されたデータの再生を行なう記録再生装置であって、
レーザと、
前記複数の記録面のうちのいずれかの記録面に前記レーザから出射された光を合焦させる手段と、
前記レーザと前記光ディスクとの間に配設され、前記光ディスクにおける1の記録面の位置と他の記録面の位置との相違によって生じる球面収差を補正するための球面収差補正手段とを有する記録再生装置。
