上記タイプの反応容器内に、一体部材をなす10gの原子炉起源グラファイトを、配置した。このグラファイトは、水中に完全に含浸され、水の総容積が、1.5lとされた。まず最初に、水の上方のデッド容積を、窒素ガスによって一時的にパージした。これにより、空気中の酸素を追い出した。1kJという程度のパルスを、グラファイトに対して印加した。数分後に、一酸化炭素の存在、および、水素の存在、が検出された。しかしながら、メタンは、検出されなかった。

Claims (9)
- 放射性物質によって汚染された放射性グラファイトの処理方法であって、
前記放射性グラファイトを、水を含有した媒体内に浸漬し;
電気アークを発生させ得るような、かつ、水分子の結合を破壊し得るような、かつ、前記グラファイトの炭素−炭素結合を破壊し得るような、十分に大きなエネルギーを有した高電圧パルスを、前記放射性グラファイトに対して印加し;
この高電圧パルスの数を、前記グラファイトをガスへと変換し得るものとして、決定する;
ことを特徴とする処理方法。 - 請求項1記載の処理方法において、
前記高電圧パルスのエネルギーを、100J〜100kJとすることを特徴とする処理方法。 - 請求項1または2記載の処理方法において、
前記高電圧パルスの持続時間を、200ns〜100μsとすることを特徴とする処理方法。 - 請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の処理方法において、
前記高電圧パルスの周波数を、1〜1000Hzとすることを特徴とする処理方法。 - 請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の処理方法において、
水を含有した前記媒体を、少なくとも1つのラジカル安定化触媒を含有したものとすることを特徴とする処理方法。 - 請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載の処理方法において、
前記発生ガスを使用するという目的で、前記発生ガスの排出を行うことを特徴とする処理方法。 - 請求項6記載の処理方法において、
前記発生ガスの前記排出を、不活性ガスを連続的に供給することによって行うことを特徴とする処理方法。 - 請求項7記載の処理方法において、
前記不活性ガスを、窒素とすることを特徴とする処理方法。 - 請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載の処理方法において、
水を含有した前記媒体を処理するステップを行うことを特徴とする処理方法。
