Abstract
【解決手段】 サブフィールド法を用いて階調表示を行うプラズマディスプレイ装置であって、プラズマディスプレイパネル11と、サブフィールド毎の表示負荷率を検出し、表示負荷率に応じてサブフィールド毎のサスティンパルス周期を変更するサスティンパルス周期変更手段25,26と、サスティンパルス周期の変更により生じた1表示フレーム内の空き時間を算出し、空き時間に応じてサブフィールドを追加できるか判定して1表示フレーム内のサブフィールド数を決定する適応的サブフィールド数変更手段27,28とを備える。

Description
また、サブフィールドを追加したことによるサスティンパルス数の変動を押さえるために、サブフィールド追加後の各サブフィールドのサスティンパルス数を調整してその合計値をサブフィールド追加前の各サブフィールドのサスティンパルス数の合計値にほぼ等しくなるようにすることを可能である。

Claims (10)
- サブフィールド法を用いて階調表示を行うプラズマディスプレイ装置であって、
同じ方向に伸び、互いに隣接して配置された複数の走査電極及び維持電極と、前記複数の走査電極及び維持電極に直交する方向に伸びる複数のアドレス電極とを備えるプラズマディスプレイパネルと、
サブフィールド毎の表示負荷率を検出し、検出した表示負荷率に応じてサブフィールド毎のサスティンパルス周期を変更するサスティンパルス周期変更手段と、
サスティンパルス周期を変更することにより生じた1表示フレーム内の空き時間を算出し、算出した前記空き時間に応じてサブフィールドを追加できるか判定して1表示フレーム内のサブフィールド数を決定する適応的サブフィールド数変更手段とを備えることを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイ装置。 - 追加される前記サブフィールドの重みは、既存のサブフィールドの重みより小さい請求項1に記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 追加されるサブフィールドの重みは、既存のサブフィールドの最小重みを2の累乗で順次除した順で、サスティンパルス数がもっとも近い整数になるように設定され、
前記適応的サブフィールド数変更手段は、重みの大きなサブフィールドを優先して追加する請求項2に記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。 - 追加される前記サブフィールドの重みは、既存のサブフィールドの最小重みより大きく、2番目に小さい重みより小さい請求項1に記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 追加されるサブフィールドの重みは、既存のサブフィールドの最小重みと2番目に小さい重みの間を追加するサブフィールドの個数に応じて等分した重みである請求項4に記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 追加されるサブフィールドのサスティンパルス周期は、固定である請求項1に記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- サブフィールドは、空き時間が表示フレームの後側に生じるように、表示フレーム内で前詰めで配置され、
追加されるサブフィールドは、表示フレーム内のすべてのサブフィールドの最後に配置される請求項1に記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。 - サブフィールドは、空き時間が表示フレームの前側に生じるように、表示フレーム内で後詰めで配置され、
追加されるサブフィールドは、表示フレーム内のすべてのサブフィールドの最初に配置される請求項1に記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。 - 前記サスティンパルス周期変更手段は、所定の輝度重みより大きいサブフィールドについてのみ、検出した表示負荷率に応じたサブフィールド毎のサスティンパルス周期の変更を行う請求項1に記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- サブフィールド法を用いて階調表示を行うプラズマディスプレイ装置であって、
同じ方向に伸び、互いに隣接して配置された複数の走査電極及び維持電極と、前記複数の走査電極及び維持電極に直交する方向に伸びる複数のアドレス電極とを備えるプラズマディスプレイパネルと、
所定のサブフィールド構成で表示する場合のサブフィールド毎の表示負荷率を検出し、検出した表示負荷率に応じてサブフィールド毎のサスティンパルス周期を変更するサスティンパルス周期変更手段と、
サスティンパルス周期を変更することにより生じた1表示フレーム内の空き時間を算出し、算出した前記空き時間に応じて他のサブフィールド構成での表示が可能か判定して1表示フレーム内のサブフィールド構成を決定する適応的サブフィールド構成設定手段とを備えることを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイ装置。
