Abstract
【解決手段】 電気光学装置の最表面に親水性を有する層を設け、上記親水性層に吸着した水分が蒸発するときの気化熱を利用して電気光学装置から放熱する。また、本電気光学装置は水分の供給源を有する。本発明によれば、金属性のヒートシンクやヒートパイプといった重量増加や体積増加を伴う放熱手段を利用しなくとも、効果的な放熱を行うことが可能となる。また、親水性層として酸化チタンなどの光触媒活性を有する材料を使用すると、親水性層の表面を清浄に保つことができる。

Claims (11)
- 情報を可視的に表示する電気光学装置であって、
画素を構成する電気光学素子を配列して画像を表示する表示パネルと、
前記表示パネルの少なくとも一つの面に水分を吸着する親水性層と、を有することを特徴とする電気光学装置。 - 前記親水性層は、透明性を有する金属酸化物からなる材料であることを特徴とする請求項1記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記金属酸化物は、エネルギーバンドギャップが3eV乃至6eVまでの酸化物半導体材料を主成分とすることを特徴とする請求項2記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記金属酸化物は、チタン、亜鉛、錫、インジウムの内のいずれかの金属を主成分とすることを特徴とする請求項2記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記電気光学装置は、更に、前記親水性層と前記電気光学素子との間に少なくとも前記水分の通過を阻止するガスバリア性を有する封止層を有する請求項1乃至4のいずれかに記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記封止層は、珪素化合物であることを特徴とする請求項5記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記親水性層は、前記表示パネルの両面に設けられることを特徴とする請求項1記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記電気光学装置は、更に、前記親水性層に吸着させる水分の供給源を有することを特徴とする請求項1記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記水分の供給源は、前記表示パネルに電源を供給する燃料電池であることを特徴とする請求項1記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記水分の供給源は、保湿性を有する物質であることを特徴とする請求項1記載の電気光学装置。
- 請求項1乃至10のいずれかに記載の電気光学装置を表示部に備えた電子機器。
