Abstract
光ファイバ同士あるいは光ファイバと光学部品の接続において、従来の光ファイバに押圧をかけて光ファイバ端面同士を突き当てて接続する方法、あるいは屈折率整合剤を用いる接続方法では、光ファイバの破損、光ファイバの汚染あるいは接続作業に時間を要するなどの問題がある。本発明は、これらの問題を解決し、単純な構造で、接続部材を光ファイバに十分密着させることができ、また単心でも多心でも、光学安定性に優れ、作業性の良い光学接続構造及び光学接続方法を提供することを目的とする。
【解決手段】
光伝送媒体および光学部品と屈折率整合性を有する接続部材が、互いに対向する該光伝送媒体の端面もしくは該光伝送媒体と該光学部品との間に波状に変形して介在することを特徴とする光学接続構造、および、該光学接続構造を用いた光学接続方法である。

Claims (7)
- 光伝送媒体および光学部品と屈折率整合性を有する接続部材が、互いに対向する該光伝送媒体の端面もしくは該光伝送媒体と該光学部品との間に波状に変形して介在することを特徴とする光学接続構造。
- 前記接続部材が、前記光伝送媒体の端面形状に対応して凹部をともなって変形していることを特徴とする請求項1記載の光学接続構造。
- 前記接続部材の接続点における接続後の厚みが、50μm以下であることを特徴とする請求項1又は請求項2記載の光学接続構造。
- 前記光伝送媒体と前記接続部材の接触面の中心から、該接続部材の周縁部までの距離の最小値Dと該光伝送媒体の半径Rが、
R<D≦60R
の関係を満たすことを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項3記載の光学接続構造。 - 前記接続部材の周縁部に支持材が具備されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項4記載の光学接続構造。
- 前記光伝送媒体が多心の光ファイバであることを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項5記載の光学接続構造。
- 光伝送媒体および光学部品と屈折率整合性を有する接続部材を用いて、該光伝送媒体の端面同士もしくは該光伝送媒体の端面と光学部品を接続する方法であって、互いに対向する該光伝送媒体の端面、もしくは該光伝送媒体の端面と光学部品の間に接続部材を配置する工程と、一方の光伝送媒体の端面を接続部材に密着するまで移動する工程と、該一方の光伝送媒体の端面を、前記接続部材が波状の変形をともなって他方の該光伝送媒体もしくは光学部品に接触するまでさらに移動する工程、とからなることを特徴とする光学接続方法。
