Abstract
【解決手段】 この摩擦調整剤は飽和カルボン酸とアルキル化されたまたはアルコキシル化されたアミンを組み合わせることによって調整される。特定の摩擦調整剤を選択することにより、添加剤濃縮物で変性された燃料で動作している燃焼エンジンの中におけるIVD沈着物の生成を増加させずにCCDを著しく減少させる安定な添加剤濃縮物を調合することができる。

Description
本発明によれば、エンジン中のCCDの生成を減少させる方法が提供される。この方法ではエンジン中において分岐したもしくは直鎖の飽和カルボン酸とアミン、例えばアンモニアまたはアルキル化されたまたはアルコキシル化されたアミンを組み合わせることによって製造された摩擦調整剤が使用される。
(a)好ましくは室温および常圧において液体であるか或いは可溶化させ得るアンモニア或いはモノ−またはジアルキル化されたアミンまたはモノ−またはジアルコキシル化されたアミンの分岐したもしくは直鎖の飽和カルボン酸塩を含んで成る摩擦調整剤0.2〜50%、
(b)主として清浄剤と担体の混合物を含んで成る清浄剤パッケージ40〜99.8%、および
(c)溶媒0〜80%を含んで成る添加剤濃縮物を利用する。
本発明に用いられる摩擦調整剤は、好適具体化例においては、アンモニア或いはモノアルキル化された、ジアルキル化された、ポリアルキル化された、またはモノアルコキシル化された、ジアルコキシル化されたまたはアルコキシル化されたアミンの分岐したもしくは直鎖のモノ−、ジ−またはポリ飽和カルボン酸塩を含んで成っている。さらに好適な具体化例においては、飽和カルボン酸の骨格の中に分岐が含まれ、低い周囲温度における燃料との相容性(compatibility)が強化されている。

イソドデシルオキシプロピル−1,3−ジアミノプロパン、
イソトリデシルオキシプロピル−1,3−ジアミノプロパン、
イソヘキシルオキシプロピルアミン、
2−エチルヘキシルオキシプロピルアミン、
オクチル/デシルオキシプロピルアミン、
イソデシルオキシプロピルアミン、
イソプロピルオキシプロピルアミン、
テトラデシルオキシプロピルアミン、
ドデシル/テトラデシルオキシプロピルアミン、
テトラデシル/ドデシルオキシプロピルアミン、
オクタデシル/ヘキサデシルオキシプロピルアミン。
伝統的なGPAパッケージは一般に、主としてエンジンの構成部分に沈着物が付着しないように保つことを主な目的とする清浄剤および担体混合物を含む清浄剤パッケージを含んで成っている。GPAパッケージ中に存在する他の成分には典型的には腐蝕防止剤、抗乳化剤、酸化防止剤および溶媒が含まれる。或る場合には識別を行うためにGPAパッケージの中にマーカーを加えることがある。従って清浄剤パッケージは典型的にはGPAパッケージの一部として燃料添加剤濃縮物に導入されるが、このことは必ずしも必要ではない。
本明細書に記載された添加剤濃縮物の一具体化例における清浄剤パッケージ成分に使用される清浄剤即ち沈着物阻止剤は、この機能をもった任意の市販の清浄剤または沈着物阻止剤を含んでいることができる。通常清浄剤または分散剤と呼ばれるガソリンに対する沈着物阻止剤は公知であり、多様な種類の化合物を使用することができる。その例としてはマンニッヒ塩基、ポリアルキレン基の数平均分子量が典型的には600〜2000、好ましくは800〜1400のポリアルキレンアミンおよびポリアルキレン琥珀酸イミド、およびポリエーテルアミンがある。本発明の添加剤濃縮物に対する好適な清浄剤はマンニッヒ塩基清浄剤である。
好適具体化例においては、清浄剤は担体即ち導入助剤と共に使用することが好ましい。この担体は典型的には担持用の流体である。このような担体には種々のタイプがあり、例えば液状のポリ−α−オレフィンのオリゴマー、鉱油、液状のポリ(オキシアルキレン)化合物、ポリアルケン、および同様な液状担体であることができる。2種またはそれ以上のこのような担体の混合物も使用することができる。
望ましい場合または必要に応じて、特に、溶媒を添加することにより添加剤濃縮物の動粘度(kinematic viscosity)を調節する(減少させる)ことができる。これを達成するためには、例えば芳香族炭化水素溶媒またはアルコールのような溶媒を濃縮物に加えることができる。これらの溶媒の例にはトルエン、キシレン、テトラヒドロフラン、イソプロパノール、イソブチルカルビノール、n−ブタノール、および石油系炭化水素溶媒、例えば溶媒ナフサ等が含まれる。
本発明の燃料組成物は、上記の沈着物抑制添加剤の他に、補助的な添加剤を含んでいることができる。該補助的な添加剤は、分散剤/清浄剤、酸化防止剤、担持用流体、金属不活性化剤(metal deactivator)、染料、マーカー、腐蝕防止剤、殺虫剤、帯電防止用添加剤、滑り減少剤(drag reducing agent)、抗乳化剤、乳化剤、濁り除去剤(dehazar)、氷結防止用添加剤、オクタン価向上剤、アンチノック用添加剤、弁座凹み防止用添加剤(anti−valve−seat recession additive)、潤滑用添加剤、表面活性剤および燃焼改良剤が含まれる。特に好適な補助的な添加剤はMMTとして知られているメチルシクロペンタジエニルマンガントリカルボニル、およびマンガン含有ガソリン添加剤を含んでいる。。
下記の実施例の目的に対し、境界摩擦(boundary friction)の測定のために5W30 GF−3試験油中の5%溶液として、或いはSequence VI−Bエンジンの燃料経済性試験(Sequence VI−B fuel economy engine tests)およびIVDおよびCCDの測定を行うために、該溶液と清浄剤HiTEC(R)6421とを組み合わせ、幾つかの異なった摩擦調整剤の試験を行った。HiTEC(R)6421ガソリン性能向上用添加剤(GPA)は、米国バージニア州、RichmondのEthyl Corporationから市販されている。下記実施例に記載されているSequence VI−Bエンジンの燃料経済性試験に対しては、摩擦調整剤/GPAの組み合わせは(a)50PTBの摩擦調整剤および(b)清浄剤源としての80.9PTBのHiTEC(R)6421 GPAを含むように調合を行った。

表1の結果は、飽和カルボン酸のn−ブチルアミン塩を含む燃料組成物(FM−1、FM−2およびFM−3)と清浄剤の組み合わせを含む燃料組成物が不飽和性の添加剤(FM−4)と同じタイプの清浄剤とを組み合わせて含む燃料組成物に比べて著しく良好なCCDの抑制と沈着物の減少を達成できることを示している。
Claims (31)
- 燃焼室を有する内燃機関中における沈着物の生成を減少させる方法において、該方法は、該内燃機関中で炭化水素性燃料と摩擦調整剤とを含んで成る燃料組成物を燃焼させ、ここで該摩擦調整剤はアミンを飽和カルボン酸と組み合わせることによって調製され、該エンジン中の燃焼室の沈着物の生成は該摩擦調整剤を含まない燃料組成物を該エンジン中で燃焼させた場合の燃焼室の沈着物の生成に比べて減少していることを特徴とする方法。
- アミンがアンモニア、アルキルアミンおよびアルコキシアミンから成る群から選ばれることを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
- 飽和カルボン酸が分岐していることを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
- 飽和カルボン酸が直鎖であることを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。

- 燃料組成物がさらにメチルシクロペンタジエニルマンガントリカルボニルを含んでなることを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
- 燃料組成物がさらに、メタノール、エタノール、イソプロパノール、t−ブタノール、C1〜C5混合アルコール、メチルt−ブチルエーテル、t−アミルメチルエーテル、エチルt−ブチルエーテル、および混合エーテルから成る群から選ばれる1種またはそれ以上の酸素化物を、該燃料組成物を酸素化するのに十分な量で含んでなることを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
- 燃料組成物がさらに担持用の流体、ポリオール、鉱油およびポリ−α−オレフィンから成る群から選ばれる材料を含んでなることを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
