TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to ceramics and a method for producing ceramics, and more particularly, to a structural material requiring excellent workability, toughness and plastic deformation, a biomaterial requiring excellent corrosion resistance and non-toxicity, or an excellent electrical material. The present invention relates to a ceramic useful for an electrode material or the like requiring conductivity and a method for producing the ceramic.
[0002]
[Prior art]
The material represented by Ti 3 SiC 2 has a high electrical conductivity of 4.5 × 10 6 Ω −1 m −1 , and is a ceramic that is more excellent in corrosion resistance than metal. Promising as a material. Further, since it has a hardness as low as 4 GPa, it is also expected to be a ceramic having good workability. However, it is extremely difficult to produce a ceramic having only a crystal phase represented by Ti 3 SiC 2 .
[0003]
So far, as a method of producing a ceramic having a Ti 3 SiC 2 is, Ti such that the stoichiometric ratio of Ti 3 SiC 2, together with SiC and C, by calcining the mixture obtained by adding a small amount of TiSi 2 A manufacturing method is known (Patent Document 1).

[0005]
However, when the mixture of Ti, SiC, C and TiSi 2 was used, the density of the obtained ceramic was 85% of the theoretical density. According to X-ray diffraction, it contained 5% by volume of a TiSi 2 crystal phase.
[0006]
Further, a mixture of Ti, SiC and C was fired once to produce a lump having Ti 3 SiC 2 , and a mixture of a powder obtained by pulverizing the lump and a small amount of TiSi 2 powder was used. In this case, the density of the obtained ceramic was improved to 95% of the theoretical density. However, according to X-ray diffraction, it contained 5% by volume of a TiSi 2 crystal phase.
[0007]
On the other hand, a crystalline ceramic composed of a single phase of Ti 3 SiC 2 is known (Patent Document 2).

[0009]
However, since this crystalline ceramic is manufactured by a vapor phase synthesis method (CVD method), the product is basically in the form of a thin film, so that there is a problem that it cannot cope with the manufacture of a bulk product. In addition, there has been a problem that the manufacturing cost rises.
[0010]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The present invention solves such a conventional problem, and comprises a single Ti 3 SiC 2 -based crystal phase as much as possible, and is required to have excellent workability, toughness and plastic deformability. It is an object of the present invention to provide a ceramic useful for a biomaterial requiring corrosion resistance and non-toxicity or an electrode material requiring excellent electrical conductivity, and a method for producing inexpensive ceramics.
[0011]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present inventors have conducted various studies on the elements contained in the crystal phase represented by Ti 3 SiC 2 in order to solve the above-mentioned problems. As a result, the use of Al as this element can solve the above-mentioned problems. Thus, the present invention was completed based on this finding.
[0012]
That is, a first means for solving the above-mentioned problem of the present invention is:
(1) A ceramic characterized in that a crystal phase represented by Ti 3 SiC 2 detected by X-ray diffraction contains an Al component.
[0013]
Preferred embodiments of the first means include the following ceramics (1) and (2).
{Circle around (1)} The ceramic according to (1), wherein the content of the Si is 15 to 25 parts by mass and the content of the Al component is 0.5 to 12 parts by mass, when the content of the Ti is 100 parts by mass.
(2) The crystal phase other than the crystal phase formed by including the Al component in the crystal phase represented by Ti 3 SiC 2 is substantially below the detection limit by the X-ray diffraction. Ceramics.
[0014]
A second means for solving the above problem of the present invention is:
(2) A method for producing ceramics, comprising firing a base material containing a raw material component and an Al component that form a crystal phase represented by Ti 3 SiC 2 by firing in a rare gas atmosphere. .
[0015]
As a preferred embodiment of the second means, the method for producing a ceramic according to the above (2), wherein the rare gas is argon, can be mentioned.
[0016]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
(1) The ceramic of the present invention is characterized in that a crystal phase represented by Ti 3 SiC 2 detected by X-ray diffraction contains an Al component.
[0017]
The basic crystal phase forming the ceramic of the present invention is a hexagonal compound represented by Ti 3 SiC 2 which is a compound known so far. The ceramic of the present invention is formed by adding an Al component to a crystal phase represented by Ti 3 SiC 2 .
[0018]
The crystal phase represented by Ti 3 SiC 2 by the inclusion of Al component, because Ti 3 SiC 2 based crystal phase is formed. This Al component is preferably contained as an element. However, it is sufficient that Al is substantially contained in the crystal phase, and a small amount of the Al compound is separately provided in a range in which a different type of crystal phase is not generated or a range in which the Ti 3 SiC 2 type crystal phase does not collapse. In some cases, the presence of a mixture cannot be avoided due to its manufacturing method.
[0019]
The contained Al component may be substituted for a part of Si in the crystal phase represented by Ti 3 SiC 2 , and the remaining Al may be simply carried on any part of the crystal phase. Further, all of Al may be supported on any part of the crystal phase.
[0020]
The content of Si and Al in the ceramics of the present invention is not particularly limited, but when Ti is 100 parts by mass, usually, the content of Si is 15 to 25 parts by mass and the content of Al is 0.1 to 25 parts by mass. The content is preferably 5 to 12 parts by mass, the content of Si is 15 to 20 parts by mass, and the content of Al is more preferably 1 to 5 parts by mass.
[0021]
When the content of Si is 15 to 25 parts by mass, a decrease in the generation rate and sinterability of Ti 3 SiC 2 is suppressed, and when the content of Al is 0.5 to 12 parts by mass, This is because a decrease in the generation rate of Ti 3 SiC 2 is suppressed.
[0022]
The ceramic of the present invention is characterized in that an Al component is contained in a crystal phase represented by Ti 3 SiC 2 detected by X-ray diffraction, but the crystal phase represented by the Ti 3 SiC 2 Is a ceramic whose crystal phase other than the crystal phase formed by containing Al as an element is substantially below the detection limit by the X-ray diffraction.
[0023]
(2) The method for manufacturing a ceramic according to the present invention includes firing a base material containing a raw material component and an Al component which form a crystal phase represented by Ti 3 SiC 2 by firing in a rare gas atmosphere. Features.
[0024]
Conventionally, ceramics having a crystal phase represented by Ti 3 SiC 2 have been prepared by a gas phase synthesis method (CVD) using a reaction gas composed of, for example, a chloride of Ti, a halide of Si, a halide of C, and hydrogen. Method).
[0025]
However, as described above, the ceramics manufactured by the CVD method has a problem that the product is basically in the form of a thin film, so that it cannot cope with the manufacture of a bulk product, and a problem that the manufacturing cost increases. was there.
[0026]
Thus, the present inventors have conducted various studies on a method for producing a ceramic having a single crystal phase as much as possible, and as a result, fired a base material containing a raw material component and an Al component in a rare gas atmosphere. As a result, they have found that ceramics having a single crystal phase, which has solved the conventional problems, can be manufactured, and based on this finding, the method for manufacturing ceramics of the present invention has been established.
[0027]
In the method of manufacturing a ceramic according to the present invention, first, a base material containing a raw material component that forms a crystal phase represented by Ti 3 SiC 2 by firing and an Al component is manufactured. In producing this substrate, a molding material such as a binder can be mixed as necessary.
[0028]
As a raw material component that forms a crystal phase represented by Ti 3 SiC 2 by firing, for example, Ti, TiH 2 , TiC, Si, SiC, C, TiSi 2 , and Ti 5
Si 3 and the like can be mentioned.
[0029]
It is preferable that each of the raw material component and the Al component is used as a powder, weighed and collected so as to have a predetermined ratio, and wet-mixed in an alcohol for 2 to 40 hours using a mixer or the like. Next, a binder is added to the obtained slurry, if desired, and granulated using a granulator such as a spray dryer. The particle size of the granules obtained by granulation is preferably 250 μm or less.
[0030]
The binder to be used is not particularly limited, and includes known ones, for example, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, polyacrylic acid, polyacrylamide, polyethylene oxide, polyethylene imine, carboxymethyl cellulose, and the like. The amount of the binder used is not particularly limited, but is usually 0.1 to 10 parts by mass, preferably 0.3 to 5 parts by mass, based on 100 parts by mass of the slurry powder component.
[0031]
Subsequently, the granules obtained by granulation are filled in a mold and molded to produce a base. The molding means is not particularly limited, and compression molding, injection molding, extrusion molding and the like are employed, and among these, compression molding is preferable.
[0032]
By firing the thus obtained base material, the ceramic of the present invention is manufactured. What is important in firing is firing in a rare gas atmosphere such as helium, neon, or argon. This is because precipitation of oxides and nitrides due to a reaction with an atmosphere gas other than the rare gas, such as oxygen or nitrogen, is suppressed.
[0033]
The other firing conditions are not particularly limited, but are usually 1 MPa or less, preferably 0.2 MPa, 1450 to 1800 ° C., preferably 1500 to 1700 ° C., 1 to 5 hours, preferably 2 to 5 hours. It is baked for 3 hours.
[0034]
【Example】
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in more detail with reference to Examples, but the present invention is not limited by these Examples.
[0035]
Examples 1 to 12 and Comparative Examples 1 and 2

TiH 2 (powder passed through a 45 μm sieve), TiC (powder having an average particle diameter of 1 μm), Si (powder passed through a 75 μm sieve), SiC (powder having an average particle diameter of 0.5 μm) and metal Al (average particle diameter) Powder having a diameter of 10 μm) was weighed at the ratio shown in Table 1, and then wet-mixed in ethanol using a ball mill. Next, this mixture was dried, and the obtained dried product was granulated by passing through a 60-mesh sieve. This granulated powder is molded into a molded body of 30 × 9 × 9 mm by a hydrostatic pressure press of 200 MPa. Subsequently, the obtained molded body is calcined at a calcining temperature shown in Table 1 for 2 hours in an argon atmosphere. The ceramics shown in Table 2 were produced. "Density (%)" in Table 2 is a ratio of the density of this ceramic to the theoretical density.

I went. The conditions were a tube current of 100 A, a tube voltage of 40 kV, a step of 0.01 °, and a scan speed of 10 ° / min.
[0037]
From FIG. 1, a peak of only the Ti 3 SiC 2 crystal phase was detected, and it was confirmed that the ceramic was substantially formed of a single crystal phase.
[0038]
[Table 1]
[0039]
[Table 2]
As shown in Table 2, for the ceramics of Examples 1 to 12 containing the Al component, the ratio of Ti 3 SiC 2 by X-ray diffraction was higher than that of the ceramics of Comparative Examples 1 and 2 not containing the Al component. Is higher. When the content of Al is 0.5 to 12 parts by mass and the content of Si is 12 to 25 parts by mass when Ti is 100 parts by mass, the ratio of Ti 3 SiC 2 is 100%. I understand.
