Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.エンジンの各シリンダーの吸気ポート(14)に2つのガス流れを供給する ように構成された分岐管(22、32)を有する2つの吸気マニフォールド(2 4、34)を有し、上記2つの流れは各シリンダーに別々に入り、シリンダー内 に層状の空気充填を生じさせ、上記第1マニフォールド(24)はその中で燃焼 されるべき燃料が分散される調整された量の空気を供給し、上記第2マニフォー ルド(34)はダイリューション・ガスを供給し、上記第1マニフォールド(2 4)の分岐管(22)を流れるガス流の全抵抗を上記第2マニフォールド(34 )の分岐管(32)を流れるガス流の全抵抗とほぼ等しくするために、エンジン が層状充填状態で作動する際には付加的な圧力降下が上記第1マニフォールド( 24)の分岐管(22)で生じるように、流れを部分的に妨げる手段(23)が 上記第1マニフォールドに設けられ、該流れ妨害手段(23)は、該流れ妨害手 段(23)において増加した流速が、上記吸気ポート(14)において減少する のに充分な距離だけ上記吸気ポート14から上流に位置している、ことを特徴と する層状充填内燃機関。 2.上記第2マニフォールド(34)の上記分岐管(32)は上記吸気ポートの 位置において、エンジンシリンダーの吸気ポート(14)の全面積の4分の1以 上の断面積を有していることを特徴とする請求の範囲第1項記載の内燃機関。 3.上記第1と第2のマニフォールドの分岐管(22、32)は上記吸気ポート (14)の位置においてほぼ等しい断面積を有していることを特徴とする請求の 範囲第2項記載の内燃機関。 4.上記第1と第2のマニフォールドの分岐管(22、32)のガス流は上 記吸気ポート14において、上記吸気バルブ(12)の近傍に達するまでは上記 吸気ポートの物理的な仕切りによって分離させられ、その後で実質的に混ざるこ となく燃焼室に平行に吸入されることを特徴とする、上述の請求範囲のいずれか に記載の内燃機関。 5.上記吸気ポート(14)における上記第1と第2の吸気マニフォールド(2 4、34)の分岐管(22、32)はシリンダー・ボアの周方向に異なった速度 で移動する実質的に平行な流れを発生してシリンダー軸周りにスワール運動を起 こすようにように設計されることを特徴とする、上述の請求範囲のいずれかに記 載の内燃機関。 6.燃料が上記第1マニフォールド(24)を通って吸われる空気の量に応じて 計量されることを特徴とする、上述の請求の範囲のいずれかに記載の内燃機関。 7.燃料は、上記第1マニフオールドのプレナム・チャンバー(24)に供給さ れ計測された供給空気と混合される噴霧として計量されることを特徴とする、請 求の範囲第6項に記載の内燃機関。 8.燃料は、対応する上記流れ妨害手段(23)より下流の上記第1吸気マニフ ォールドの各分岐管への噴霧として別々に計量されることを特徴とする、請求の 範囲第6項に記載の内燃機関。 9.上記第2マニフォールドから導入されるガスはEGRを含んでいることを特 徴とする、上述の請求の範囲のいずれかに記載の内燃機関。 10.上記層状充填吸気の平均空燃比は理論空燃比であることを特徴とする、請 求の範囲第9項に記載の内燃機関。 11.上記第2吸気マニフォールドから吸い込まれるガスは大気を含んでいるこ とを特徴とする、請求の範囲第1項から第8項までのいずれかに記載の内燃機関 。 12.上記第1と第2のマニフォールド(24、34)の供給ガスを制限する供 給絞り弁(50、54)が設けられ、該供給絞り弁(50、54)は同調して動 作するように組み合わせられていることを特徴とする、上述の請求範囲のいずれ かに記載の内燃機関。 13.上記第2マニフォールド(34)に連通する供給絞り弁(54)の上流に 分流調整弁(90)が設けられており、該分流調整弁(90)は第1位置におい ては空気を上記第2マニフォールド(34)に空気を供給し、第2位置において は上記第2マニフォールドにEGRを供給することを特徴とする、請求の範囲第 12項記載の内燃機関。 14.上記第2マニフォールド(34)に連通する供給絞り弁(54)に直列に 、遮断弁56が設けられており、それが閉じた時には上記第2マニフォールド( 34)を大気とEGRとから遮断することを特徴とする、請求の範囲第12項ま たは第13項に記載の内燃機関。 15.上記流れ妨害手段(23)は、穴明き板を有するバタフライ絞りを有して おり、閉じ位置においてはガス流れを所定量妨げ、開位置においては実質的にガ ス流れを妨げないことを特徴とする、上述の請求の範囲のいずれかに記載の内燃 機関。 16.上記流れ妨害手段は上記第1マニフォールドの分岐管の口部において上記 第1マニフォールドのプレナム・チャンバーの中で移動可能なバッフルを有する ことを特徴とする、請求の範囲第1項から第14項までのいずれかに記載の内燃 機関。 17.上記バタフライ絞り(23)またはバッフルは上記供給絞り弁(50、5 4)と組み合わせられて動作することを特徴とする、請求の範囲第12項に従属 する請求の範囲第15項または第16項に記載の内燃機関。 18.上記バタフライ絞り(23)またはバッフルは上記遮断弁(56)と 組み合わせられて動作することを特徴とする、請求の範囲第14項に従属する請 求の範囲第15項または第26項に記載の内燃機関。 19.上記エンジンが層状充填状態で運転されるエンジンの負荷と速度範囲にわ たって、上記第1と第2のマニフォールドから供給される流れ量は互いにほぼ一 定の比率に固定されており、上記流れ妨害手段は一定の妨害比率を有すことを特 徴とする、請求の範囲のいずれかに記載の内燃機関。 20.各シリンダーは開タイミングが互いに異なる2つの吸気バルブを有してお り、吸気工程における各タイミングにおいてシリンダーに供給される2つの流れ の流量の瞬間的な比率は変化することを特徴とする、請求の範囲第19項に記載 の内燃機関。
