【請求項1】 原稿を照明するための異なる色の光を発する複数のエレクトロルミネッセンス素子が所定間隔をおいて透光基板上に配置され、前記透光基板が読取原稿と平行かつ近接配置される光源と、前記原稿からの反射光を光電変換し、この光電変換された電気信号によって原稿の画像情報を読取るイメージセンサと、を具備し、前記光源は、前記エレクトロルミネッセンス素子を制御することで光の色を順次切り替えながら前記透光性基板を介して前記原稿に光を照射し、一方、前記イメージセンサは、前記原稿から前記透光基板の前記エレクトロルミネッセンス素子間を透過して入射する反射光を前記原稿に照射される光の色毎に順次切り替えて読取ることを特徴とする画像読取装置。
【請求項2】 前記光源は、赤、緑、青の三原色を発光するように、三原色を発光するエレクトロルミネッセンス素子をそれぞれ有し、発光効率の低い色を発光する前記エレクトロルミネッセンス素子が他の色を発光するエレクトロルミネッセンス素子より原稿に近く配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の画像読取装置。
【請求項3】 前記光源は、赤、緑、青の三原色を発光するように、三原色を発光するエレクトロルミネッセンス素子をそれぞれ有し、発光効率の低い色を発光するエレクトロルミネッセンス素子の発光面積が、他の色を発光するエレクトロルミネッセンス素子の発光面積より大きくなされていることを特徴とする請求項1または請求項2に記載の画像読取装置。
【請求項4】 前記エレクトロルミネッセンス素子の端部の幅を中央部の幅よりも広くしたことを特徴とする請求項1から請求項3のいずれかに記載の画像読取装置。
