【特許請求の範囲】
【請求項1】 複数の固定アクセスポイントと複数の移動ユニットとを備え、上記移動ユニットは、少なくとも2つのデータレートで送信可能であり、また、上記移動ユニットから設定レンジ内の少なくとも2つのアクセスポイントと通信可能であるデータ通信ネットワークであって、
設定された間隔で最も適格なアクセスポイントを走査する、上記移動ユニット内の手段を備え、上記最も的確なアクセスポイントは、上記1つの移動ユニットでの受信信号品質、及び各固定アクセスポイントでのローディング要素に従って選定され、上記アクセスポイントの適格なグループが、設定された閾値より高い信号品質を有する全ての固定アクセスポイントから選定され、上記適格なグループは、更に設定された閾値より高い信号品質を有する現在の固定アクセスポイントの1つを含んでおり、上記最も適格なアクセスポイントは、現在の固定アクセスポイントのローディング要素の特定値より大きなのものを除く最も低いローディング要素を有する全てのアクセスポイントから選定され、複数の上記アクセスポイントが、同じローディング要素を有している場合、最高の信号品質を有する固定アクセスポイントを、最も適格なアクセスポインとして選定するようになっており、
性能統計値と受信したアクセスポイントの信号品質とを評価する、移動ユニット内の手段と、
データレートを第2のデータレートに変更する移動ユニット内の手段、及び
最高データレートで最も適格なアクセスポイントと関連付ける手段
を備えたことを特徴とするデータ通信ネットワーク
【請求項2】 上記各移動ユニットは、
該移動ユニットから設定レンジ内の上記アクセスポイントの全てに精査パケットを同報通信する送信器を備え、上記レンジ内の上記各アクセスポイントは、各々、同報通信である上記精査パケットを検出する共に、各々、上記移動ユニットの1つに精査応答パケットを返信する受信器と、
上記精査応答パケットから、最も適格な1つのアクセスポイントを選定し、設定間隔で最も適格な1つのアクセスポイントと上記1つの移動ユニットを関連付けるための選定器と、
を備えたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のデータ通信ネットワーク。
【請求項3】 上記1つの移動ユニットは、少なくとも閾値と等しい信号品質によって、全ての上記アクセスポイントを確認すると共に、最低ローディング要素を有する最も適格な1つのアクセスポイントを選定し、且つ、複数の上記固定アクセスポイントが等しい最低ローディング要素を有している場合は、最高の受信信号品質を有する固定アクセスポイントを選定することを特徴とする請求項1に記載のデータ通信ネットワーク。
【請求項4】 上記閾値は、最高の受信信号品質より低く設定されていることを特徴とする請求項3に記載のデータ通信ネットワーク。
【請求項5】 上記複数の移動ユニットの1つは、許容できない程低い信号品質を経験する、上記固定アクセスポイントの1つと関連付けられると、ローミングし、上記選定から上記固定アクセスポイントの1つを除外することを特徴とする請求項4に記載のデータ通信ネットワーク。
【請求項6】 上記許容できない程低い信号品質は、50%以上の、再トライ、CRCエラー又はビーコン見逃しが経験されている場合に設定されることを特徴とする請求項4に記載のデータ通信ネットワーク。
【請求項7】 上記除外された固定アクセスポイントの1つは、受信信号品質が設定限界値を超えた時、再び選定に含まれることを特徴とする上記請求項4に記載のデータ通信ネットワーク。
【請求項8】 上記移動ユニットの1つが、再関連付けに対し、どの固定アクセスポイントの確認も採れない場合、上記移動ユニットの1つは、現在の上記固定アクセスポイントの1つとの関連付けを継続するようにしたことを特徴とする請求項4に記載のデータ通信ネットワーク。
【請求項9】 上記各移動ユニットは、満足できる通信レベルを達成している現在の固定アクセスポイントの1つと関連付けられており、選択された間隔で、選定の決定を行うようにしたことを特徴とする請求項4に記載のデータ通信ネットワーク。
