【発明の属する技術分野】本発明は光学ファイバネット
ワーク、特に光学ファイバ波長分割マルチプレクサに関

【従来の技術】光学ファイバーネットワークは高速かつ
大容量の通信を行うことが可能であるため、データ通信
においてその重要度は益々高まりつつある。1つの光学
ファイバを用いて波長の異なる光を送信することが可能
である。これらの波長は単一の信号として合成されて送
信される。光学ファイバネットワークの重要な性質とし
て、こうした光学的信号をその成分波長、すなわち「チ
ャンネル」に分離する点があるが、これは通常、波長分
割マルチプレクサにより行われる。この分離は、ネット
ワーク内の「ループ」上の信号間で波長の交換が行われ
るために必要である。この交換はコネクタポイント、す
なわち、波長の交換を行う目的で複数のループが交差す
る点において行われる。
大容量の通信を行うことが可能であるため、データ通信
においてその重要度は益々高まりつつある。1つの光学
ファイバを用いて波長の異なる光を送信することが可能
である。これらの波長は単一の信号として合成されて送

として、信号を光学ファイバに伝送するうえで装置に求
められる精度に関するものがある。稠密波長分割マルチ
プレクサに入る信号の透過帯域は非常に狭い。図3に
は、幾つかのチャンネルについて稠密波長分割マルチプ
レクサ内に進入する際のスペクトル曲線310を示し
た。チャンネルの透過帯域320は非常に狭い。この曲
線は矩形波であることが理想である。狭い透過帯域は、
信号伝送レーザ装置がその物理的制約及び温度感受性に
より光学フィルタの中央波長に正確に光を発信すること
がないため問題である。中央からのズレの量は「オフセ
ット」と呼ばれる。このドリフトの大きさは透過帯域の
幅よりも大きくないことが望ましい。ドリフトの大きさ
が透過帯域の幅よりも大きい場合、チャンネル間の漏話
が顕著となる。漏話は、特定のチャンネル、あるいはチ

置などの信号発生装置にはオフセットが透過帯域の幅に

【発明の実施の形態】本発明を、図1〜図11に基づき
以下に詳細に説明する。本発明は稠密波長マルチプレク
サにおける改良に関するものである。以下の説明は当業
者に本発明の利用を可能ならしめることを目的としたも

良を想到することは容易に可能であるが、ここに示され
る一般的な原理は他の実施形態に適用することも可能で

Bに向けて透過する。干渉計490A及び490Bによ
りS偏光及びP偏光の偶数チャンネルと奇数チャンネル
との間に位相差が導入される。

Claims (17)
- 【請求項1】 光学信号を光学チャンネルに分割するた
めの稠密波長分割マルチプレクサ(220,230)で
あって、 複数の光学チャンネル(λ1〜λn,λ'1〜λ'n)を含む
光学信号を入力するための入力手段と、 前記複数の光学チャンネル(λ1〜λn,λ'1〜λ'n)の
内の少なくとも2つのチャンネルの間に位相差を導入す
ることにより前記複数の光学チャンネルの1つ以上を分
離するための分離手段であって、前記複数の光学チャン
ネルの偏光度に少なくとも部分的に基づいた前記分離手
段と、 分離された複数の光学チャンネル(λ1〜λn,λ'1〜
λ'n)を複数の光学径路(250−1〜250−n,2
80−1〜280−n)上に出力するための出力手段と
を備える稠密波長分割マルチプレクサ。 - 【請求項2】 前記入力手段は、 (a)前記分離手段に光学的に組み合わされた少なくと
も1個のレンズ(450)と、 (b)前記レンズ(450)に光学的に組み合わされた
少なくとも1本の光学ファイバ(410)とを含む請求
項1に記載の稠密波長分割マルチプレクサ。 - 【請求項3】 前記出力手段は、 (a)前記分離手段に光学的に組み合わされた少なくと
も1個のレンズ(455)と、 (b)前記レンズに光学的に組み合わされた少なくとも
2本の光学ファイバ(420,430)とを含む請求項
1に記載の稠密波長分割マルチプレクサ。 - 【請求項4】 前記分離手段は、 (a)前記レンズ(450,455)に光学的に組み合
わされた偏光ビームスプリッタ(470)と、 (b)前記偏光ビームスプリッタ(470)に光学的に
組み合わされた少なくとも2個の非線形干渉計(490
A,490B)とを含む請求項1に記載の稠密波長分割
マルチプレクサ。 - 【請求項5】 前記非線形干渉計(b)(490A,4
90B)はそれぞれ、 (b1)第2のガラスプレート(780B)に光学的に
組み合わされ、空間を形成する第1のガラスプレート
(780A)と、 (b2)前記空間の内側に位置するように前記第2のガ

コーティング(720)と、 (b3)前記空間の内側に位置するように前記第1のガ

を含む光学信号を入力するための少なくとも1本の第1
の光学ファイバ(410)と、 (b)前記第1の光学ファイバ(410)に光学的に組
み合わされた少なくとも1個の第1のレンズ(450)
と、 (c)1以上の光学チャンネルを出力するための少なく
とも2本の第2の光学ファイバ(420,430)であ
って、その内の少なくとも1本が前記第1のレンズに光
学的に組み合わされた前記第2の光学ファイバと、 (d)前記第2の光学ファイバ(420,430)の
