“DISPOSITIVO DI SUPPORTO DI UN PANNELLO E METODO PER â € œPANEL SUPPORT DEVICE AND METHOD FOR
The present invention relates to a panel support device and a method for mounting a panel, in particular for use in interior design.
Devices for supporting panels are already known comprising a lower profile and an upper profile adapted to receive respective opposite edges of the panel itself. In particular, after having applied the lower profile to the floor and the upper profile to the ceiling, the upper edge of the panel is positioned inside a cavity of the upper profile, while the lower edge of the panel is positioned inside a cavity of the lower profile. The panel thus assembled is substantially orthogonal to the floor and ceiling and its height with respect to the floor can be adjusted by inserting shims. In fact, if the height of the panel with respect to the floor has to be changed, it is necessary to remove the edges of the panel from the housings in the relative profiles. Subsequently, in correspondence with the cavity of the lower profile, a certain number of thicknesses is placed which allows to obtain the desired height. These thicknesses consist, for example, of wooden or metal or plastic blocks.
The main disadvantage of the solution just described is linked to the fact that the panel height adjustment operations are long and laborious. In fact, every time it is necessary to make an adjustment, it is necessary to remove the panel itself which, generally, is heavy and bulky. Furthermore, especially in the case of glass panels, handling is critical because the operator risks flexing the panels or hitting other objects (furniture, machinery, walls), damaging the panels themselves or even causing them to break. Since the adjustment of the height of the panels is a frequent operation, carried out to compensate for the tolerances due to the deformation due to strain of the materials of the profiles, the panels are subjected to repeated mechanical stress and tend to wear out quickly.
A further disadvantage of the known solutions is linked to the fact that the thicknesses allow a coarse adjustment of the height, that is, by discrete steps of at least a few millimeters, while the deformations of the materials are of the order of microns.
Another disadvantage of the known solutions lies in the deformation of the thicknesses themselves. In fact, the thicknesses, being burdened by the weight of the panel, yield and deform, therefore further adjustments of the panel height are necessary.
In this context, the technical task underlying the present invention is to propose a support device for a panel and a method for mounting a panel, which overcome the drawbacks of the aforementioned prior art.
In particular, it is an object of the present invention to propose a device for supporting a panel and a method for mounting a panel, which allow to adjust the height of the panel with respect to the floor in a practical and fast way.
A further object of the present invention is to make available a device for supporting a panel and a method for mounting a panel, which allow to reduce or eliminate the risks of damage to the panel during the adjustment of its height with respect to the floor.
Another object of the present invention is to make available a support device for a panel and a method for mounting a panel, which allow to increase the average life of the panel.
A further purpose of the present invention is to propose a support device for a panel and a method for mounting a panel, which allow a fine adjustment of the height of the panel with respect to the floor, that is, allow to recover the tolerances due to the micrometric deformations of the materials.
The specified technical task and the specified purposes are substantially achieved by a support device for a panel and a method for mounting a panel, comprising the technical characteristics set out in one or more of the appended claims.

With reference to the figures, 1 indicates a support device for a panel 2 for one of its edges 3. Preferably, the panel 2 is made of glass, for example tempered, with a transparent, acid-etched or back-painted finish. Alternatively, panel 2 is made of wood, for example subjected to â € œopen poreâ € paint.
The device 1 comprises a profile 4 defining a housing section 5 into which the edge 3 of the panel 2 can be inserted. In particular, the housing section 5 is delimited by a base 6, by a first side wall 7 and by a second side wall 8 of the profile 4. In this way, the housing section 5 has the shape of an open cavity having a squared U-shaped vertical section with an access opening 9 (see Figure 1). Preferably, profile 4 is made of aluminum. For example, the panel 2 has a thickness between 8 mm and 12 mm, while the access opening 9 has a dimension between 18 and 20 mm.
The device 1 is provided with means 10 for adjusting the height of the panel 2 with respect to the base 6 of the profile 2. These adjustment means 10 are arranged within the housing section 5.
Advantageously, the adjustment means 10 are at least partially arranged in proximity to the first side wall 7 in such a way that, with the edge 3 of the panel 2 inserted in the housing section 5, these adjustment means 10 are accessible through a first passage slot 11 . In particular, as shown in figure 10, this first passage slit 11 is obtained between the edge 3 of the panel 2 and the first side wall 7 to allow the height of the panel 2 to be adjusted on site. More precisely, the first the passage slit 11 is obtained between the edge 3 of the panel 2 and a tooth 7a of the first side wall 7. Preferably, the edge 3 of the panel 2 and the second side wall 8 define a second passage slit 26. More precisely, the second passage slit 26 is obtained between the edge 3 of the panel 2 and a tooth 8a of the first side wall 8.
Originally, the adjustment means 10 comprise a lower plate 12 and an upper plate 13. The lower plate 12, which can be rested on the base 6 of the profile 4, is provided with parallel cylindrical pins 14 (for example in steel). For example, the lower plate 12 has the shape of a parallelepiped with dimensions 50 mm x 30 mm x 4 mm and from a face 15 of greater extension (50 mm x 30 mm) protrude two pins 14a and 14b, which are orthogonal to such face 15, as visible in figure 4. In the upper plate 13, on which the edge 3 of the panel 2 can be positioned, smooth holes 16 are obtained for the passage of said pins 14. Furthermore, on the upper plate 13, there is obtained also a threaded hole 17 interposed between said smooth holes 16. Both smooth holes 16 and threaded hole 17 are through holes. For example, the upper plate 13 has the shape of a parallelepiped of dimensions 50 mm x 25 mm x 8 mm whose faces 18 of greatest extension are crossed by two smooth holes 16a, 16b and by the threaded hole 17, as shown in figure 4 Preferably, the smooth holes 16a and 16b and the threaded hole 17 have a circular section and their centers are aligned. The lower plate 12 and the upper plate 13 are arranged parallel to each other so that the pins 14a and 14b pass through the smooth holes 16a, 16b while the threaded hole 17 can accommodate a screw 19, preferably without a head. Advantageously, the screw 19 is arranged in proximity to the first side wall 7 in such a way that, with the edge 3 of the panel 2 inserted in the housing section 5, the screw 19 is located in the first passage slot 11. The lower plate 12 (with the pins 14), the upper plate 13 (with the smooth holes 16 and the threaded hole 17) and the screw 19 thus define a spacer 20.
In a first embodiment described and illustrated here, the profile 4 is formed by a first portion 4a and a second portion 4b which are distinct and connectable by means of joining means 21 so as to define the housing section 5. Preferably, the two portions 4a and 4b of the profile 4 are asymmetrical, as can be seen in Figure 2a. In particular, the first portion 4a defines the first side wall 7 of the housing section 5, while the second portion 4b defines the base 6 and the second side wall 8 of the housing section 5.
In a second embodiment (not shown), the two portions 4a and 4b of the profile 4 are symmetrical. In particular, the first portion 4a defines the first side wall 7 and half of the base 6 of the housing section 5, while the second portion 4b defines the second side wall 8 and the remaining half of the base 6 of the housing section 5.
In a third embodiment, illustrated in Figure 2b, the profile 4 is formed by a single piece.
Preferably, the first side wall 7 has an interlocking seat 22 and the second side wall 8 has a shoulder 23 (for example, see Figures 1 and 10). As illustrated in Figures 5 and 6, the joining means 21 comprise a bent plate 24 having a first end 24a that can be inserted into the shoulder 23 and a second end 24b carrying a bushing 25. In particular, this plate 24 is bent to support the bushing 25. It should be noted that the horizontal section of the bushing 25 is defined by a circumference arc 25a and by a segment 25b, as shown in figure 7. Advantageously, the bushing 25 is accessible through the first passage slot 11 in such a way which, when subjected to rotation, this bush 25 engages the interlocking seat 22. In fact, by rotating the bush 25, it passes from a rest configuration in which the segment 25b is substantially parallel to the first side wall 7 to an operative configuration in which the extension of the segment 25b is incident with respect to the first side wall 7.
In an alternative embodiment (not shown), the shoulder 23 is made in the first side wall 7, while the interlocking seat 22 is made in the second side wall 8. The first end 24a of the bent plate 24 can be inserted into the shoulder 23. The bushing 25, arranged at the second end 24b of the bent plate 24, is accessible through the second passage slot 26. In particular, by subjecting the bush 25 to rotation, it engages the interlocking seat 22. In fact, by rotating the bush 25, it passes from a rest configuration in which the segment 25b is substantially parallel to the second side wall 8, to an operative configuration in which the extension of the segment 25b is incident with respect to the second side wall 8.
Preferably, the device 1 is also provided with gaskets 35 snap applied between the profile 4 and the edge 3 of the panel 2 in such a way as to isolate the housing section 5. In particular, these gaskets 35 are applied in such a way as to occlude the first slit 11 and the second slit 26 for passage, as shown in figure 9.
As can be seen in figure 8, preferably the support device 1 is used in a wall structure 27 formed by a plurality of uprights 28 and crosspieces 29 able to define sectors for the application of as many panels 2. In particular, the profile 4 of the device 1 can be anchored to a floor 30 or to a ground in such a way as to constitute the lower profile of the wall structure 27.
The method for mounting a panel, according to the present invention, is described below.
First consider the use of monolithic profiles (ie formed by a single piece). A lower profile 4 is placed on the floor 30 or on the ground and anchored thereto. An upper profile 40 is anchored to a ceiling 32. Preferably, the upper profile 40 is identical to the lower profile 4. The access opening 9 of the lower profile 4 faces an access opening 90 of the upper profile 40.
In the lower housing section 5, defined in the lower profile 4, one or more spacers 20 are arranged, typically two for each panel 2 to be supported. In particular, the lower plate 12 of each spacer 20 rests on the base 6 of the lower profile 4.
An upper edge 33 of the panel 2 is inserted into an upper housing section 50 defined in the upper profile 40. A lower edge 3 of the panel 2 is inserted into the lower housing section 5, in particular this lower edge 3 rests on the upper plate 13. In this way, the panel 2 is arranged substantially orthogonal to the floor 30 and to the ceiling 32.
The height of the panel 2 with respect to the base 6 of the lower profile 4 (and therefore the height of the panel 2 with respect to the floor 30) is adjusted by means of the adjustment means 10 arranged in the lower housing section 5. Advantageously, access to the adjustment means 10 takes place through the first passage slit 11 in such a way as to allow adjustment on site. For example, by passing an Allen key 34 through the first passage slot 11, the screw 19 is screwed into the threaded hole 17. In this way, the upper plate 13 moves away from or approaches the lower plate 12, allowing to vary the height of the panel 2 with respect to the base 6 of the lower profile 4. In particular, when screwing the screw 19, the pins 14a and 14b and the corresponding smooth holes 16a and 16b act as guides. For example, each turn of the screw 19 corresponds to a height variation of approximately 0.8 mm.
Let us now consider the use of a non-monolithic lower profile 4, that is, consisting of the two distinct and connectable portions 4a and 4b. First of all, the second portion 4b of the lower profile 4 must be placed on the floor 30. The lower plate 12 of the spacer 20 rests on the base 6 of the lower profile 4. One then proceeds by placing one or more folded plates 24 on the base 6 of the lower profile 4. In particular, the first end 24a of each folded plate 24 is inserted into the shoulder 23 in the second side wall 8, as shown in Figures 1 and 10. After that, the lower edge 3 of the panel 2 is positioned near the base 6 of the lower profile 4, in particular this lower edge 3 rests on the upper plate 13. Finally, the first portion 4a is arranged next to the second portion 4b of the lower profile 4. The connection between the two portions 4a and 4b is carried out by rotating the bushing 25 of each bent plate 24 (for example by means of the Allen key 34) so that the bushing 25 itself engages the interlocking seat 22. The height adjustment of panel 2 is carried out as already explained above. Finally, snap gaskets 35 are applied between the lower profile 4 and the lower edge 3 and between the upper profile 40 and the upper edge 33.
From the above description the characteristics of the device for supporting a panel and of the method for mounting a panel, according to the present invention, are clear, as well as the advantages.
In particular, thanks to the first passage slit, it is possible to access the screw and adjust the height of the panel on site. This adjustment is practical and quick as it is sufficient to insert the Allen key in the first passage slot, avoiding removing the panel. Among other things, the adjustment of the panel height on site allows to reduce or totally eliminate the risk of damage to the panel during the adjustment operations, thus reducing wear.
Furthermore, since each turn of the screw corresponds to a variation in height of less than a millimeter, the device and the method proposed allow a fine adjustment of the height of the panel with respect to the floor, allowing to recover the tolerances due to the micrometric deformations of the materials.
Furthermore, the use of a non-monolithic profile (for example formed by two portions), makes the assembly of the panel even more practical. In fact, in this case, the panel is applied â € œfrontâ € to the second portion of the lower profile and not by interlocking. Only then is the second portion of the lower profile applied, thus defining the housing section.
